Chapter 99

Leviathan approached the sea surface, extending its tentacles to scoop up some of the black seawater. The cold sensation on the tentacles confirmed that the sea was no longer warm... but where did this black substance come from? Looking around, Lin saw that the sea within her line of sight was entirely pitch black.
The black seawater had a foul smell, a danger signal from the cells, making Lin feel she should not get close. Even the smell of decaying corpses would not trigger such a danger signal, indicating how dangerous this seawater was.
Despite this, Lin still collected some seawater to analyze, to see what kind of dangerous substances it contained and what specific symptoms they might cause.
When will the ocean recover? How extensive is the area of this black water?
Lin didn't know, but she learned one thing: no matter how large a territory, it's not necessarily safe.
So, she had to find the air jellyfish...
Leviathan flew up to a height of over a thousand meters, and Lin stopped to look into the distance. Everywhere she looked, the sea was a dark, black expanse.
How could she find it?
Lin had no idea where the air jellyfish lived, but she saw something special.
In the distance, a small piece of floating ice was drifting on the sea surface, with some shiny creatures on it.
Let's go check it out.
Spreading its wings, Leviathan dove in that direction.
This small piece of floating ice was only about five meters wide, giving Lin the feeling that it had survived the heated seawater. However, she didn't know if it was a leftover ice chunk or newly formed. If it was newly formed, it meant the seawater was indeed cooling down.
On the floating ice, some creatures were lying, their shells shining brightly in the daylight, extremely dazzling.
These... are Ice Crystals?
These shiny creatures were three Ice Crystals, each about three meters long. Lin hadn't seen them in a long time, and a sense of nostalgia welled up in her.
The Ice Crystals looked weak and lifeless, clearly affected by the disaster. Lin considered whether to take one back to compare its crystals with those of the Twisted Jungle's moss, but a three-meter-long creature felt too heavy.
'Boom...'
Suddenly, a low rumble came from the sea, and the entire piece of floating ice began to shake.
A seaquake? Leviathan immediately ascended to a higher altitude, and she saw the sea's shaking becoming more intense, but no tsunami occurred.
Lin realized that the shaking had nothing to do with a seaquake. Not far from the floating ice, she saw a massive object slowly rising from the sea!
The black seawater was pushed aside as it rose, causing strong water currents. When the object was almost completely out of the water, the water's movement gradually calmed down.
To Lin's surprise, the object causing the disturbance and rising from the water was an enormous creature.
This creature had an oval shape, about 40 meters long and 10 meters wide, with a dark blue body. Lin couldn't find any eyes or similar organs, and more bizarrely, the giant creature continued to rise out of the water, flying above the sea!
The creature's underside was covered with thick tentacles, and overall, it looked like an enlarged air jellyfish.
Leviathan descended but maintained a distance to observe the jellyfish.
The air jellyfish could grow so large... Lin confirmed she wasn't mistaken. As long as it had the ability to float, it could make anything, no matter how large or heavy, fly.
The enormous jellyfish flew above the piece of floating ice, extending two tentacles to wrap around the ice and tear it into two pieces. One of the Ice Crystals on the ice fell into the water, struggling to swim back to the ice.
The jellyfish ignored the Ice Crystal, bringing the torn ice to a circular, saw-toothed structure on its underside, which Lin assumed was its mouth. The jellyfish then crushed and ate the entire piece of ice.
So, the seawater is toxic, and it needs to eat ice? But what was it doing in the sea just now?
After eating one piece of ice, the jellyfish didn't eat the other but started to ascend into the sky, very slowly, giving Lin time to think about how to attack.
Using a sniper would be best, right? The jellyfish's skin might be thick, but it's definitely filled with gas. Just creating a hole would cause it to leak.
Thinking this, Leviathan began to create a sniper. Once completed, Lin placed the sniper on Leviathan's head and slowly approached the jellyfish.
Although the jellyfish seemed to have no eyes, it immediately reacted when Leviathan got close, raising its front tentacles and waving them.
It wasn't a posture for hunting, just a defensive stance.
Lin flew around the jellyfish, judging its attack range and observing its skin to find the weakest point, then prepared the sniper's projectile.
Leviathan flew to a side of the jellyfish where the skin was lighter in color, likely the weakest point.
Fire!
The projectile, made of hard shell material, instantly pierced the jellyfish's skin but only halfway, not all the way through.
The skin is very thick...
Lin remembered that when she used this method to hook a jellyfish before, the air jellyfish would swell and explode, but she didn't think such a large jellyfish would do the same.
The jellyfish, seemingly unfazed by the projectile, continued to float leisurely.
Does it not have a brain like a sea jellyfish? That's impossible, given its size.
Although puzzled, this was a good opportunity. The tip of the projectile opened a small hole, and a tiny flyer entered the jellyfish's body.
The flyer lit up, and as Lin expected, the inside of the jellyfish was a large space filled with gas, but the gas composition was very different from ordinary air. This must be the secret of the jellyfish's ability to float.
Lin had the flyer collect some gas for analysis, but that wasn't enough. She needed to know how the jellyfish produced this gas, as she had never seen such gas in the environment, and if it existed, it was extremely rare.
The flyer was now in a sac-like organ. Lin believed the jellyfish had many such sac-like organs and needed to find a path to other organs.
She found it.
The flyer discovered some small holes on the upper wall of the sac and immediately entered one.
'Gur...'
When the flyer entered the hole, Lin found it in a tube-like structure. The jellyfish suddenly made a strange sound, and the airflow around the flyer became intense, pushing it up and down in the tube. Finally, Lin saw a bright light as the flyer was ejected from the jellyfish's body.
At this moment, Lin saw a spherical object protrude from the jellyfish's rear. When it reached a certain size, it split into four parts, releasing a large amount of gas.
Through this function, the jellyfish not only ejected the flyer but also, Lin noticed, another, much larger spherical object protruding from its rear. After continuously expanding, it burst, and the powerful gas jet propelled the massive jellyfish into the sky in an instant.
Lin found it incredible that such a large creature could fly so fast. She immediately had Leviathan follow it.
