Chapter 9

– Yeah, it’s been a really long time.

After my father completely cut off contact with my mother and me, communication with Hyunmin naturally stopped as well. I did miss him, but by the time we entered middle school, we both knew pretty much everything there was to know about each other’s situations.

I sent the reply, thinking to myself:

– Well, we were both young and didn’t understand the adults’ circumstances back then.

The text message from Hyunmin, the youngest of my father’s three legitimate children and my age, brought back memories. We didn’t meet often when we were young, but when we did, we got along well. As the youngest in a wealthy family, he was a gentle and pure-hearted kid, unlike his two older brothers. Because of this, Hyunmin treated me well, and we could be close friends.

– Yeah, it’s been a really long time.

I sent the message, a bitter smile on my face, thinking about how awkward his tone seemed.
