"What the heck is this! There are too many things to point out. How am I supposed to fight with this skill set? Why do I already have two titles?"
I ignored my sister Haru's complaints and continued checking my skills and titles.
"Training" LV1 - Active Skill
Arts:
- LV1 Tame - Consumes 20 MP - When used on a monster under certain conditions, it connects a magical path, making the target monster a servant.
"Stealth" LV1 - Active Skill
Arts:
- LV1 Conceal - Literally suppresses one's presence. After use, it becomes difficult to be recognized by surroundings for 5 minutes. Cannot be used again for 30 minutes after the effect ends.
"Dark Magic" LV1 - Active Skill
Arts:
- LV1 Bind - Consumes 10 MP - A spell that hinders the opponent's movement. After use, it inflicts a movement hindrance status on the target for 2 minutes.
"Language" LV1 - Passive Skill
- LV1 - Can partially decipher unreadable text with time.
"Reading" LV1 - Active/Passive Skill
- When reading a book, the proficiency of corresponding skills increases.
- LV1 - When reading a book, the skill proficiency is adjusted based on the number of characters and content (small).
Arts:
- Special - Speed Reading - Consumes 10 MP - When used on a book, it grants skill proficiency as if the first page and the number of characters equal to the skill level × 100 have been read. Can be used once per book.
It's good that I learned these arts, but they have no meaning for me. Essentially, it's a skill that lets you pretend you've read something without actually reading it. As someone who enjoys reading, I would rather not use this art. Additionally, the notable points are that the MP cost for the "Training" skill's Tame art is higher compared to others, and the "Language" skill is too vague. It's hard to believe it can exist as a skill at this level. I guess I'll have to look forward to its growth.
Next, the titles:
"Bearer of Talent" - A title given to those who acquire skills and arts during the tutorial.
Effect: Can identify the skill closest to being learned among unlearned skills. The skill currently closest to being learned is "Monster Knowledge."
"Navi's Favorite" - A title given to those who form a friendly relationship with the tutorial NPC.
Effect: A slight boost to friendliness when interacting with guild staff for the first time.
These are titles obtained during the tutorial, so they don't have dramatic effects, but they can be helpful. The effect of "Bearer of Talent" can be useful for deciding in-game actions. As for "Navi's Favorite," it's unclear how effective it is, but given the (slight) notation, it's best not to expect too much. In fact, I should be grateful for receiving a title just for listening to complaints.
"Hey! Are you listening, big brother!"
It seems Haru is getting impatient.
"Stop shouting. There are a lot of people around."
Startled by my warning, Haru quickly covers her mouth.
"So, what's the deal?"
This time, she starts speaking in a low voice.
"Let's move somewhere else. We're getting in the way of other people moving around."
I point to a fountain near the guild.
"Sure. Let's move."
Sitting on the edge of the fountain, we continue our conversation from earlier.
"First, I have too many questions, so I'll confirm them one by one.
First, the Tamer and Librarian classes are fine! I knew you started this game to read a lot of books, so I expected combat skills to be secondary.
But why are there no attack arts in the initial skills?"
"I intended to leave combat to the servants I tame and to have skills that allow us to escape from combat. And I read online that taming doesn't require combat."
"That's true, taming itself isn't that difficult if you don't picky. But taming combat-capable monsters is different!"
"What do you mean?"
"Ruri... I mean, Lapis told me that this game is famous for its detailed design. Each monster has an emotional AI."
"Ah, I see."
So Ruri's in-game name is Lapis.
"Monsters that can be tamed without combat usually have a gentle AI. Do you think they would actively participate in combat? Moreover, they might not even have combat skills."
"Ugh."
That's a blind spot. Thinking about it, if they were combat-oriented, they would likely start with combat. In that case, my skill set leaves me with no choice but to run away once combat starts. Also, since the Librarian class is a special class, I didn't take any production skills, so I can't lure them with items. ...Is this bad?
"That face shows you're starting to realize. So, the next question: I understand 'Navi's Favorite.' But what about 'Bearer of Talent'?"
"That's... the reason is..."
I briefly explained how I acquired the information.
"Getting such important information during the tutorial! And to get multiple titles during the tutorial!"
"It didn't seem like they wanted it to be widely known, so I'll only tell the family."
"Got it. Since it's information you brought, I'll follow your lead."
After a bit more talk,
"We've exchanged information, so what do we do next?"
I asked,
"I'll just go to the guild and complete quests normally."
"I'll look for the library and do some quests around town."
While listening to my sister, I remembered something.
