(This chapter is set in the same ‘universe’ as the previous one, read the previous one for clearer picture~)

Luo Shaoyuan would never have expected, never ever could he have imagined that one day, he would become the Emperor’s, only wife – the Empress.

Even if he wanted to feel regret, it was too late d*mn it! That damned Emperor had not even given him a chance to change his mind!

Luo Shaoyuan’s current expression was of a hapless resigned sadness as he sat there… right in the middle of the Emperor’s personal chambers… As he waited for the Emperor to return after listening to all those ministers’ wishes… once he returned… the Emperor would consummate this marriage.

Luo Shaoyuan was all alone on the Emperor’s dragon bed, plus he was clad in vibrant red clothing. Thus, the utterly bored Luo Shaoyuan began to daydream (complain & swear).

What silly backward country was this?! Were these the rules of your ancestors? I mean before I transmigrated here, I was a corrupt academician you know. I know that on the wedding night of the Emperor and the Empress, the marriage consummation should take place in the Empress’ personal chambers right, this was the tradition for numerous dynasties! So why the heck was it the Emperor’s personal chambers for me?

And yeah, how on earth did this Hua Xuan become the Emperor?! He was putting aside all the beauties of the realm just to find himself a male Empress? Were you kidding me?! Could it be that he wanted to use me as a diversion to keep his real lover hidden in a golden palace or something?! If this was really the case, Hua Xuan, you had better be prepared to not have any offspring!

Oh yeah, and all those ministers, what was the deal with them?! Were they a bunch of rag-tag fellows? Apart from that Prime Minister, and that Lord what’s-his-name who still seemed to have their wits about them, what, what happened to the rest?! Not only did they allow the Emperor to marry a male Empress, they were even happy about it? I heard from Linqing that during morning court, when some of the ministers heard that the Emperor was planning on marrying a man, they had wept tears of joy.

Were you guys worried that the Emperor would not be able to get a wife or what?!!! This was so frustrating! Oh, even though I have the tiniest desire to be with Hua Xuan, it was just a tiny bit, but why did I have to marry him! Hmph!

“Shaoyuan.” A gravelly voice pierced through the silence.

Without looking Luo Shaoyuan could tell who it was and he replied rather snarkily, “What?! If you have something to say, then spit it out! If not, hurry and get someone to serve some food. I’m so hungry…” The last sentence seemed to Hua Xuan like it was said with no energy whatsoever.

Thus, the Emperor who deeply cared for his Empress quickly summoned some attendants to serve them their meal, and he also reprimanded them for their neglect. He went on about why didn’t they serve food when the Empress had been hungry etc, giving all the palace maids a good scare! Luckily they had remembered to bring the dishes, otherwise it would have been their heads on the floor, not their knees!

Honestly, Luo Shaoyuan was not that hungry. Initially, when he spent time with Hua Xuan, he had never felt awkward or out of place, but now that they were married, and could rightfully be together, it did make Luo Shaoyuan feel a tad uneasy. So he wanted to use the time of this meal to kind of calm down his chaotic feelings, and coincidentally both he and Hua Xuan had yet to eat dinner. (Empress, did you forget that while the Emperor had been socializing with the ministers, he must have had some food!)

Luo Shaoyuan ate quietly and with his head lowered, cough, he really had been starving. Hua Xuan, on the other hand, ate intermittent mouthfuls as he was focused on watching Luo Shaoyuan eat.

Luo Shaoyuan had an extremely youthful and fair look, coupled with deer-like dewy eyes, not many knew that the Top Ranked Scholar looked like this. In reality, Luo Shaoyuan was not exceptionally handsome, at least he was nothing like the stunning beauty of Yun Linqing, but his features were comforting to gaze at. He had a friendly personality and even Hua Xuan himself had no idea how he had come to fall for this person who appeared clumsy and simple, but was detailed and caring on the inside.

“Hey, the way you keep staring at other people’s faces, do you know how rude that is?!” Luo Shaoyuan swallowed his last mouthful of rice as he turned to meet Hua Xuan’s heated gaze, his tone was devoid of any politeness.

The corners of Hua Xuan’s mouth curved upward as he arched an eyebrow and asked, “Other people? You don’t count as other people now do you, my Empress?”

The minute Luo Shaoyuan saw this smile on Hua Xuan’s face, he could not help but think, d*mn it, his smile is too seductive that shameless guy! Has he forgotten that he’s the leader of this country?!

“Hua Xuan, can you not smile so disgustingly?!” Luo Shaoyuan said with distaste.

Hua Xuan had long since grown used to the way Luo Shaoyuan talked and he leaned closer to him, bending down his head as he asked, “Is it really that disgusting?”

“F*ck, are you trying to seduce me right now? I’m a very moral and upstanding person, I will not give in to pleasures of the flesh!” Luo Shaoyuan tried to rebuke as he watched Hua Xuan come even closer to him.

“Since, I, the Emperor, am willing to sacrifice my body to seduce the Empress, shouldn’t the Empress just give in to me?”

Luo Shaoyuan shied away as he pointed at the wine jug on the table, “Wait, wait, wait!! We need to drink cross-cupped wine! We haven’t had the cross-cup wine yet!”

(T/N: For newlyweds, wine drinking is part of their ceremony. Since the Pre-Qin Period, drinking “cross-cupped wine (交杯酒)” has been an important step in weddings. The new couple needs to hold a cup respectively, cross their arm with each other, and drink the wine in the cups at the same time.)

Hua Xuan smiled as he thought, just what I want.

After drinking the cross-cup wine, Hua Xuan impatiently kissed Luo Shaoyuan’s lips. The aftertaste of the wine and its fragrance still lingered in their mouths as they merged their lips together. Luo Shaoyuan could not tell if he was intoxicated because of the wine, or because of this passionate kiss.

Soon, all the lamps and candles in the Emperor’s personal chambers were extinguished. Even the moon was too shy and hid behind some clouds, all that entered the room were faint rays of moonlight, filtered through the window. All the night shift palace maids and eunuchs were stationed far away from the palace chambers.

A sibilant whisper pierced through the night, “Hua Xuan… It’s my first time… You, you, you must be gentle okay…” A certain someone was so stimulated that his breath was uneven and short.

“Mmm, I know.”

“A-and, and, tomorrow, I-I, I want to go to the Prime Minister’s residence… I want to go play with Linqing.”

“Alright.” He dared to think of others now? At this moment? Harrumph, he’d let him go if he can come down from the bed tomorrow… A certain Emperor plotted silently.

“…Ahhhhhh, Hua-H… Hua Xuan, is it… really… really your first time? Why are you so experienced? Like you’ve done this many times before?! You … “ Luo Shaoyuan agitatedly finished the first sentence but was soon overcame by a wave of fatigue.

“Yes, it is my first time. You are talking too much, just enjoy it properly!” Hua Xuan was a little annoyed at this and moved to capture Luo Shaoyuan’s lips with his teeth, preventing him from saying other anti-climactic things.

……

As noon of the second day approached, Luo Shaoyuan was still unable to get up from bed. (Weary to the bone~!) Hua Xuan accompanied him throughout the day, after all, because it was the Emperor’s wedding, a holiday of three days had been declared.

Much later…Luo Shaoyuan decided that either way he would go and visit Linqing at the Prime Minister’s residence after three days, he would use these three days to rest in bed.

"

"

Alas, the Empress was no match for the Emperor’s plotting, and Luo Shaoyuan had never imagined he would have more or less fully recovered by the second day… Oh and Hua Xuan found this out when he was applying medicine for him… Hua Xuan’s reaction had been a burst of hearty laughter, hahaha, and on the third day Hua Xuan had imprisoned him for a bout of pleasure during the day…

The boneless Luo Shaoyuan lay motionless in Hua Xuan’s embrace as he tried to express his sadness, he really was very sad, he felt that there was nothing worth living for and that he was about to die from all the pain he felt.

The only way that he could think of getting back at Hua Xuan was… to be by his side his entire life! And torture him every single day until the end of their days … Hmph hmph!!
