Shorts #7 Part 1 - This New Year’s Eve ① [ New Year Special ]

“Yang Kuanning! I’m dying of hunger here, when will lunch be ready?” Gu Yueqing was lounging on the sofa, his voice filled with impatience as he shouted toward the person in the kitchen.

As a result of Lieutenant General Yang’s hard work last night, both of them had ended up sleeping late. It was past noon when Gu Yueqing finally awoke due to the call of hunger.

“Alright, alright, it’s nearly done. You weren’t so vocal last night.” Yang Kuanning shot back.

If Yang Kuanning had said this under normal circumstances, Gu Yueqing would definitely have jumped up and given him a beating. Oh, yes, he still would have even if he could never win a fight against him.

But today, as Gu Yueqing surveyed the plethora of dishes on the table, even though they were merely plain household dishes, but in the eyes of a person close to starvation, these were like meals sent from Heaven!

Yang Kuanning was still useful, all that talk about divorce last night was mere nonsense!

“Let’s rest for a while after we’ve finished eating, then we need to do some housework. Our parents will be coming over today, you didn’t forget that it’s New Year’s Eve tonight right?” Yang Kuanning nagged at Gu Yueqing as he passed a drumstick to Gu Yueqing.

“Cough cough…I…cough cough cough I forgot!!” Now only did Gu Yueqing remember that such a thing had been agreed upon! This shocked him so much that he choked on his food continuing, “Hurry, we need to hurry up and finish eating! We haven’t even started clearing up our room yet!!” If Mom and Dad saw those shameful things, how could he even go on with life?!

Yang Kuanning knew exactly what Gu Yueqing was referring to, but being a Lieutenant General, all he did was smile indifferently as he soothed, “Sure, take your time while you eat. Don’t worry, I’m here. I’ll help you clear up. We’ll have enough time for sure.”

Gu Yueqing continued shoveling rice into his mouth as he nodded his head, “Mhm!”

“Wifey, look at this, if I stick it this way, will it look crooked?”

“It’s crooked again! You, take it down for me right now! Let me do it! Ling Yue! Look at yourself! You’re a big CEO and you can’t even stick a spring couplet on properly! What use are you!”

Ling Yue remained silent as he thought to himself, It’s the first time I’ve ever done something like this since birth! He did feel slightly aggrieved about Liu Ming saying that about him.

Liu Ming began to put up the spring couplets as he side-eyed Ling Yue with distaste. Ling Yue could not feel more wronged at his reaction…

“What are you looking at me for! Have you mopped the floor?! Go do what you’re supposed to do. Don’t think about lazing around!” Liu Ming said snarkily.

Even though Ling Yue had been scolded by Liu Ming, he still felt at ease, after all, all that mattered was that his wifey was happy~

“Alright~Your humble servant will go mop the floors now…” Ling Yue happily skipped away to mop the floor.

At long last Liu Ming was able to finish putting up the spring couplets and he carefully climbed down the ladder. Before he stepped into the living room, he caught sight of Ling Yue hard at work as he quickly mopped the floor, and Beauty Liu finally felt a sense of satisfaction. With his spirits uplifted, he headed into the living, but after a mere two steps.

“Ahhh!!!” Liu Ming’s scream shattered through the air. It was soon obvious that Beauty Liu had fallen prey to Ling Yue’s exceptionally invincible mopping skills, and had slipped.

“Wifey!” Ling Yue wanted to rush over and pick Liu Ming up but he too unexpectedly slipped on this slippery floor.

Still, luckily only the two of them were in the house right now. Otherwise, the sight of two fully-grown men falling on the floor would have been seen.

Liu Ming was close to exploding from anger, and to think he had thought that Ling Yue was finally being of help.

“Ling Yue! Do you have a grudge against me or something?!!!”

“Wifey… It was my mistake, I’ll go write a letter of reflection!” Runs away.

“Don’t you dare! I order you to go wipe the windows, and go sweep upstairs for me! Go throw the rubbish too! I’ll make a list for you, you have to go to the supermarket to buy them alright!” Liu Ming blabbered away as he continued to instruct Ling Yue. In conclusion, all the dirty and tiring jobs became Ling Yue’s responsibility! What a wonderful outcome for everyone~

But someone was dumbfounded as he thought to himself.

If I had known this earlier, I would not have offered to mop the floor.

All that mopping brought up a whole load of other things.

(T/N: the word mop, begins with 托 which also means pull, so there was like a ‘pun’ in the raw here)

On New Year’s Eve, Bai Mingzhe and Yuan Luo were busy preparing the living room for their New Year’s Eve gathering.

“Mr. Bai, there’s a package for you.”

“Why would there be a package for me?” Bai Mingzhe walked toward the front door as he mumbled to himself.

From the very first second the delivery person had spoken, Yuan Luo’s eyes had been glued onto Bai Mingzhe. Inside, he was thinking, could it be a package from one of Zhezhe’s fans?

Bai Mingzhe could not even move the so-called ‘package’, this was no package, it was a huge box! In the end, Bai Mingzhe was forced to drag the box in and Yuan Luo pitched in to help open the box.

Soon, they heard a voice come out from the box, “Uncle~It’s me! And Nuo Mi too!! Mother got the delivery guys to send us here like this!” Yuan Luo had just managed to open the box, and true enough both sons of Bai Mingzhe’s sister were inside.

The sight of this stunned Bai Mingzhe, what…

“Yu Wan, Nuo Mi. Are you two okay?” Yuan Luo asked.

“Mom and Dad went on a date, she told us to come and accompany you guys. This way, you guys won’t be lonely~” Nuo Mi cutely fluttered his eyes at them. On the other hand, Yu Wan was cooly standing by the side with his arms crossed, a picture of adorableness.

Bai Mingzhe did not know whether to laugh or cry, he drew the two babies close to him and smothered them in kisses. The sight of this was extremely discomfiting to Yuan Luo.

I knew it, it was definitely a love rival.

“Uncle Luo, can we watch tv?” Nuo Mi asked as he fluttered his eyelashes.

Even though they were his ‘love rivals’, Yuan Luo still did like the two kids. As the saying goes, love for a person even extends to the crows on his roof, so because Bai Mingzhe liked them, so too did he. (T/N: Love me, love my dog)

“Go on, feel free to take whatever snacks you like from the table.” Yuan Luo generously said as he patted the two kids’ heads.

Bai Mingzhe was very pleased with Yuan Luo’s performance.

“Zhezhe, did I do well? If I did, then let me kiss you okay? If you want to kiss me that will do too!” The second Yuan Luo noticed that pleased smile on Bai Mingzhe’s face, he immediately ran to him as he begged for his reward.

Bai Mingzhe could not help but feel a tad exasperated. Even though this person was so old already, he still acted like a kid. As he was thinking, Yuan Luo suddenly hugged Bai Mingzhe and what came next was a 5-minute long heated kiss, leaving Bai Mingzhe gasping for air.

Of course, in the short span of these 5 minutes, while Yuan Luo and Bai Mingzhe had been getting hot and sweaty with their locked lips, the two little kids watching them had also been getting in on the action, they even had live commentary.

“Elder brother, is this what mom meant by kissing? Does kissing look like what Uncle and Uncle Luo are doing?” Nuo Mi continuously asked.

“That’s right. They really are so shameless!” Yu Wan indifferently scoffed.

“Elder brother, should we kiss too?” Nuo Mi naively asked.

“No way! We are brothers, plus we’re both boys!” Yu Wan immediately rejected this suggestion.

“Oh… But Uncle and Uncle Luo are boys too!” Nuo Mi cutely observed.

This Yu Wan won’t bother answering that!

Gu Yueqing lightly scoffed: Young Master also wishes everyone a happy new year. Oh yeah, if you have red packets, then give them to me, as a gesture of goodwill.

Ling Yue: It’s rare I get to speak first, I usually have no power of speech at home… Blablablabla (Liu Ming shot him a hard glance) cough, cough, Happy New Year Everyone! May happiness be with your families!

Liu Ming: Happy Year of the Monkey everyone! The New Year means a new beginning, may everything go well! (Ling Yue: Waow, my wifey has the gift of the gab!)

Yuan Luo: I wish everyone a Happy New Year too! I hope you will have fun , and work goes smoothly!
