Girls were annoyed when they came to periods, but when they didn’t, they would be worried and hope it could come soon.
Every time Qin Shu came to her period, she treated it respectfully like worshiping an ancestor. She didn’t dare to eat cold food, touch cold water, or turn on the air conditioner or the fan no matter how hot she felt.
Once she caught a cold, she would definitely suffer from vomiting and diarrhea, which was summed up by Qin Shu after having suffered the torture many times.
On the third day of her period, Qin Shu finally recovered a little, and her complexion was not as sick as before.
Su Xiaoya talked endlessly on the phone, “Darling, you can’t always endure this dysmenorrhea. One of my classmates said she knew a very professional veteran doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, whose family is an old and well-known family of traditional Chinese medicine with a history of a hundred years. The doctor is known as a miraculous gynecologist who specializes in treating dysmenorrhea. Why don’t you let me take you to the doctor another day?”
“Do you know that you are now like the kind of sales profiteer in TV commercials, and your marketing skills are very clumsy?” Qin Shu mocked her.
“Be serious, I’m not joking,” Su Xiaoya said solemnly. But in less than two seconds, she couldn’t hold it and broke into laughter. “Alright, I’m just spouting nonsense. I was just hoping that you could recover quickly.”
“Tsk, don’t make it sound like I’m terminally ill.”
Su Xiaoya stuck out her tongue and thought for a moment before suddenly saying excitedly, “I remember! I heard that if a woman has dysmenorrhea, she won’t feel any pain after giving birth. Hey, hey, hey, you and your Colonel Ling …”
“Bad idea,” Qin Shu said disdainfully, “if you continue to talk nonsense, I will put you in my blacklist for a month.”
“I didn’t say anything!” Su Xiaoya denied it tactfully. “Hey, darling, before I went abroad, you never told me that you had the dysmenorrhea. It’s so serious that you even faint out of pain. What if you faint on the street one day? Let me ask you, how did you get through this over the past few years? How could you damage your body to this extent? You even lied to me that you would take good care of yourself. But as a result, the longer you take care of yourself, the more serious your condition has become instead.”
Qin Shu was most afraid that Su Xiaoya would talk about this issue again and again. She didn’t know how to answer her properly, so she could only move her phone three feet away from her ears.
After a while, she said to Su Xiaoya slowly, “It’s probably because I studied too hard in college. For example, I often stayed up late to write papers and do research projects, and I had to spend a lot of time reading foreign and domestic books. When I got busy, I naturally wouldn’t have time to care about my physical condition.”
“Can you use a more real excuse?” Su Xiaoya did not believe it at all.
“If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing I can help.”
Su Xiaoya snorted and muttered, “Was it because what happened to Ji Chen caused you a huge blow?”
Qin Shu gripped her phone tightly and said as if nothing had happened, “It has nothing to do with him. Don’t think too much about it.”
“Well, then, will you go to the mourning ceremony for Ji Chen’s death anniversary next month?” Su Xiaoya asked, afraid that Qin Shu would not be able to face it.
Qin Shu gave a positive answer softly. Seeing that it was near six o’clock in the evening, she said, “I’m hanging up now. I’m going to make dinner.”
“Wait, wait, wait, wait a moment!” Su Xiaoya shouted on the other end of the phone. “Darling, if my brother asks you about me, you can tell him that you don’t know anything. Don’t tell him my QQ and WeChat alternate account. Don’t betray me anyway!”
Qin Shu raised her eyebrows. “Alright, I’ll see how long you can hide.”
As the two of them just hung up, Mu Qian called Qin Shu and asked her, “Little Shu, is Little Ya with you?”
“She’s not here. What’s wrong?” Qin Shu asked and pretended she didn’t know anything.
“Nothing.” Mu Qian’s voice was calm and it could not be heard any emotions from his tone. “It’s just I haven’t seen her for the past two days, and I can’t get through to her either. I’m worried that it won’t be safe for her to live alone outside.”
Qin Shu covered for Su Xiaoya, “That must be because she’s too busy with her work and has no time to contact you. We had dinner at Guxuanzhai a few days ago, Xiaoya told me that their magazine was going to shoot a set of illustrations for the cover and inside pages of popular stars. The editor-in-chief set very high requirements, so everyone was as busy as a bee.”
“Okay.” Mu Qian didn’t ask any further.
Qin Shu didn’t have much to say. She was afraid that if she said too much, she would make many mistakes, and she was even more afraid that Mu Qian would notice something wrong. Thus, she quickly found an excuse to hang up after chatting for a while.
Night gradually fell.
When Ling Mohan came back, he heard the sound of cooking in the kitchen. It was very surprising that such a sound appeared in the villa.
In an instant, his entire body suddenly tensed up, and he quickly took out a pistol that was pinned to his waist. He stared fixedly at the kitchen with his dark eyes, like a swift and terrifying beast.
However, in the next second, he realized that this was his home. There were high-power grids, patrols, and soldiers who were standing guard outside. Without his orders, no one else would be able to enter!
An enchanting and graceful figure flashed through his mind.
Ling Mohan put away his gun and walked to the kitchen door. Sure enough, he saw Qin Shu standing in front of the glass counter in an apron. Her white arm moved continuously, stirring and frying the dishes in the pot.
He felt that it was somewhat wonderful. His dark eyes flickered with a certain strange light of joy and anticipation.
Ling Mohan grew up in a strict family and was sent to the army for training at the age of eight. He could only go home on weekends and other holidays.
In a large family, and as the eldest grandson, he was expected to undertake too much hope and too important responsibilities.
His parents, his Grandpa, and other relatives were all very strict with him. They seldom treated him with the tenderness of an ordinary family, and most of the time, they gave him harsh reprimand and punishment.
Qin Shu was different.
From the day she arrived at the Ling family, she had been doted on by Grandpa Ling. The elders also loved her because of Grandpa Ling. Regardless of whether their love for her was real or not, at least the young Ling Mohan was eager to have that love.
As he grew older, this desire for being doted was buried deeper.
In the army, Ling Mohan often heard his comrades talk about the trivial and warm things at home. They missed their families, their parents, and the food their parents cooked at every festival and at New Year. From their conversation he could unconsciously notice a kind of happiness and show-off.
However, Ling Mohan did not have this kind of emotion, nor did he miss the Ling family’s mansion that much. The main reason was that he had never experienced those warmth before, and he only remembered the serious atmosphere and cautious rules in the mansion.
Probably the only interesting thing was that Little Qin Shu was always causing trouble, and he could use the excuse of disciplining her for Grandpa Ling to bully her.
“Hoh!” Qin Shu turned around and saw Ling Mohan standing quietly at the door. She was so scared that she almost threw the plate. “Dear Lord Colonel, can you make a little noise next time you show up?”
“Come here.” Ling Mohan raised his chin at her.
Qin Shu did not like his commanding tone and purposely beckoned him by curling her finger. “Come, come here.”
Ling Mohan immediately strode towards her.
Qin Shu saw that he was coming aggressively and she had a bad premonition. She dodged to the side, but was caught by the man in the waist and was forcefully pressed down on the glass counter.
“Stop!” Qin Shu grabbed the spoon in her hand and glared at him with her beautiful eyes. “If you dare to act recklessly, I’ll knock your head off!”
“What are you thinking?” Ling Mohan rapped her forehead and hugged her tightly. “From now on, I will come back for dinner every night unless I have a special task.”
Qin Shu was puzzled, a little unable to accept the man who had suddenly become somewhat tender, and she could not help but reach out to touch his forehead.
Ling Mohan grabbed her hand and said unhappily, “Speak properly and don’t touch me all over at will. Otherwise I’ll make you satisfy my fire of desire.”
His fire of desire … Since they were both adults, how could Qin Shu not understand what he meant by saying that?
Qin Shu cursed and called him bastard secretly. He came into estrus even when she only touched his forehead. She said angrily, “What should I say?”
“You didn’t listen to me!” Ling Mohan’s tender warmth wasn’t valued, so his tone was fierce and sounded like he was gritting his teeth.
Qin Shu was puzzled. “I did. You said you would come home for dinner, well, it’s up to you. You’re not talking about me anyway.”
Ling Mohan’s face darkened and the blue veins popped out on his forehead.
Qin Shu sniffed and smelled a burnt scent. Immediately, her expression changed slightly. “The food is burnt!”
Ling Mohan was pushed away by her and stood at the side with a face full of displeasure. Finally, he carried the dish out with a cold face.
Qin Shu did not expect Ling Mohan to come back for dinner, so she only cooked two dishes—a braised fish in brown sauce and a sour and spicy shredded potatoes.
Ling Mohan was in a huff. He picked more than half of the fish into his bowl, leaving only the pitiful fish head and tail for Qin Shu. The most delicious part between the fish head and tail was all gone without leaving any residue.
“Hey, can’t you leave some fish for me?” Qin Shu stared at the man in front of her in disbelief. What she was focused on was the fish in the man’s bowl, which she had cooked meticulously.
Ling Mohan sneered. “You’re very stupid, so you need to have more fish heads, it’s good for your brain!”
Qin Shu, “???”
This bastard had gone mad for no reason. He was temperamental, and he would frequently pull a long face. Qin Shu didn’t know how he had developed such a domineering temper.
She held back her anger and decided to ignore Ling Mohan.
However, seeing that the other party enjoyed the fish happily and the fragrance of the fish kept drifting over, Qin Shu could not hold back and asked resentfully, “Hey, isn’t it very delicious?”
Ling Mohan raised his eyes to glance at her and sneered, “It tastes terrible!”
Qin Shu was speechless and stared at the fish that he had finished more than half of.
“Although it tastes bad, you’ve had so much of it. It’s really hard for you,” she said mockingly.
Ling Mohan nodded. “It’s good that you know.”
Qin Shu choked on her anger.
She dared to say that this bastard must have taken the wrong medicine. Otherwise, why would he always target her tonight?
Suddenly, a piece of fish meat was placed in her bowl. It was the most fresh and tender part of the fish’s stomach.
“The fish tastes terrible, eat it yourself,” Ling Mohan said disdainfully and began to eat the sour and spicy shredded potatoes.
The corner of Qin Shu’s mouth curled up slightly.
Ling Mohan stared at her coldly. “Your smile is even uglier than a pig!”
He actually compared her with a pig!
Qin Shu gritted her teeth and said, “Why don’t you show me a pretty smile?”
“Shut up and eat!” Ling Mohan said with a straight face.
After dinner, Qin Shu did not expect the noble young master to wash dishes. In any case, there were just a few dishes, so she cleaned them up herself.
Ling Mohan circled around her like a supervisor without saying a word. He just stared at her.
“What exactly is the matter with you?” Qin Shu asked resignedly.
Ling Mohan snorted coldly and said in a deep voice, “You will be responsible for cooking dinner for me in the future.”
Eh?
Qin Shu looked at him and suddenly came to a realization. She curled her lips and smiled, deliberately saying, “I’m a terrible cook.”
“I don’t mind,” Ling Mohan said.
“I mind, what if you will have something bad?”
“Shut up! This is a military order, you must obey!”
Qin Shu finally couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Then she was grabbed by Ling Mohan at the waist and pressed against the wall, receiving his wild kissing.
Just as she was panting, a loud shout came from the door, “Report to Colonel! Please sign for the item Miss Ji sent!”
Ling Mohan was furious when their kissing was interrupted, but he still stopped.
Qin Shu panted and thought, who was Miss Ji? Was she the lady of ice that Xia Lun once talked about? What did she send to Ling Mohan?
