In the city of General, at the Lu family village.
In July, the sun was scorching, so hot that even the leaves and the ground seemed to emit oppressive heat waves. But amidst this intense heat, a clean-cut young man, about sixteen or seventeen years old, lay on a village rock like a dead body. If it weren't for the slight rise and fall of his chest, one might have thought he had fainted from the heat.
Several people had curiously approached to check on him, but they quickly walked away upon seeing his face.
No one knew how long he had been lying there, but eventually, a white cloud drifted lazily across the sky, casting a cool shadow over the young man. At this moment, a black and white snake, about two meters long and fearsome in appearance, slithered out from behind the rock. It sniffed the air, detecting a faint trace of blood, and immediately raised its head to emerge from the crevice.
The snake, two meters long and terrifying, slithered out.
"Whoosh!"
The ugly and fearsome snake head, emitting a strong fishy smell, circled the young man's trouser leg and then slid over his calf, following the direction of the blood. The long, rough body left a trail of moisture on the young man's leg, but he remained motionless, his breathing even fainter.
The snake head slid over his thigh, across his abdomen, and up to his warm chest.
The vicious snake seemed to sense the weak breath coming from the young man and instinctively paused, ready to attack. If the young man made any movement, it would bite without hesitation. However, the young man remained still, as if he were already dead.
Seeing no movement, the vicious snake relaxed its guard.
In the next second, it lowered its body and continued to follow the trail of blood. The two-meter-long snake body swept over the young man, leaving a faint mark on his face due to the rough and hard scales. But the young man still showed no reaction. The snake head soon reached his outstretched right arm and the faint bloodstain at his fingertips.
That bloodstain was the most delicious food it wanted to devour.
The snake moved freely, easily, and confidently.
But as the snake's middle part passed over the young man's palm, a sudden change occurred!
The young man's stiff fingers instantly became agile, clamping together like a vise.
"Snap!"
The fingers pierced the snake's middle, killing it instantly.
A single decisive strike!
As the snake's eyes widened in disbelief and its life force faded, another larger black and white venomous snake emerged from behind the rock. It seemed to have seen its companion killed mercilessly by the young man and also sensed the danger emanating from him. The snake hissed, its head instantly rising, and it sprang up.
It was as fast as lightning, its mouth vicious.
In the glaring sunlight, the snake's fangs gleamed. In a flash, it lunged at the young man's seemingly frail chest. The young man moved his body, curved his fingers, and struck the snake with lightning speed. Just as the snake's fangs were an inch away from the young man, his fingers pierced its middle.
The young man then flipped and knelt, pinning the snake and his fingers into the hard rock. His fingers were as immovable as a stake, the force of the strike like a thunderbolt. The large, rough body of the snake writhed violently in its death throes, scattering small rocks as it thrashed.
The small rocks flew everywhere, breaking nearby young plants, and the young man's body was hit with a crackling sound. A small cut even appeared on his ear, blood flowing, but he didn't flinch. His fingers, pinned to the rock, remained as steady as a mountain, like a spear embedded in the rock.
After a while, the snake's life force finally faded.
The thin, clean-cut young man stood up, proudly holding the two venomous snakes, which were taller than his own body. Despite the scorching July sun, he exuded a chilling and bloody aura, like a blade immersed in ice water, making people shudder and feel fear.
"Damn! Awesome, Brother Heng!"
The scorching sun penetrated the clouds, and a short-sleeved, short-panted young man of similar age suddenly leaped out from behind a low wall. With a shaved head, he looked excited and wild: "Thirty-eight households in the village, forty-seven hunters, couldn't deal with the six-ringed snakes, but you crushed them like ants. That's amazing."
"Let me play with them for a bit, to satisfy my hands."
The short-sleeved young man had a determined look, a rugged appearance, and was full of raw strength.
The young man called Brother Heng smiled faintly and then threw the two dead snakes to him: "Lu Meng, just play with them for a bit! Don't tear them apart. You'll take them home later to gut and clean them. Aunt Lu and Uncle Lu are out drinking at a wedding, so we'll have to prepare dinner ourselves."
"I'll go early to hunt two wild chickens and then invite Uncle Feng for a drink."
"Alright!"
Lu Meng, with a face full of scars, took the two-meter-long venomous snakes and wrapped them around his body, then proudly pinched the ugly snake heads: "Brother Heng, I'll take the snakes around the village to show off, but you don't need to go through the trouble of hunting wild chickens. We have a few at home. Just kill one and stew it with the snakes."
As he twisted the snake heads, they snapped like twine!
Lu Meng, while advising the young man, calmly twisted off the snake heads. Snake blood splattered on his body, creating a shocking sight, but he didn't care. He took a step forward and kicked the snake heads away, which hit a low wall behind him, causing several children to cry out.
The children ran around in a panic.
Lu Meng looked disdainful: "Damn! Kids these days are so timid."
"I'll take them out during the summer vacation and teach them to hunt wild boars in the mountains."
He then brutally twisted off another snake head, hitting a child who glared at him in anger. The force of the blow made the child fall on his back, but he didn't dare to cry. Seeing the ugly snake head, he quickly got up and ran away. In his eyes, Zhao Heng and Lu Meng were devils.
The children who had run away quickly gathered to watch from a distance, but none of them said anything or cried. They knew that Zhao Heng and Lu Meng had removed a threat from the village, and they also respected and feared them. After the children passed by, Zhao Heng patted Lu Meng on the shoulder and said:
"Alright! Stop fooling around! Bullying kids isn't a skill."
Lu Meng touched his nose confidently:
"True, we don't want to tarnish Brother Heng's reputation."
Zhao Heng didn't say anything more, wiped the blood off his hands, and then darted into the mountain forest. Lu Meng, with the two large snakes wrapped around him, strutted around the village, and everyone gave way to him. It wasn't because of the snakes' terrifying appearance but because of the blood-soaked Lu Meng, who exuded an unstoppable aura.
Lu Meng was in high spirits!
"Scared? Scared?"
Before the sun had set, Zhao Heng returned from the mountains, holding an old military bayonet in his right hand and six fat wild chickens in his left. This time, his harvest was abundant. The villagers, both young and old, greeted him with warm smiles, clearly knowing that he had eliminated the two six-ringed snakes that had bitten many people.
The two large snakes had broken through the village's sulfur line and roamed around the damp areas of the village. Traditional methods not only failed to deal with them but also provoked them to bite over ten people. The village men even joined forces to hunt the snakes but were unable to approach their hiding place, a large, wet rock with many holes.
The villagers had to be cautious.
Who knew that after Zhao Heng returned from his college entrance exam, he killed the two snakes like ants, eliminating the threat. Therefore, the villagers looked at him with gratitude and warmth. Both young and old sighed in admiration, realizing that the Lu family village truly couldn't do without Zhao Heng. Zhao Heng smiled and responded to the villagers' greetings, even throwing two chickens to a needy household.
He chatted and greeted the villagers as he walked, soon reaching the end of the village, where a heavy stone gate led to a small courtyard with five brick and tile houses. Although the decoration was not luxurious and the space was not large, it was neatly arranged, giving a comfortable and refreshing feeling. Zhao Heng felt warmth and peace as he saw it.
It was his home, and Lu Meng's home too.
"Bang!"
Just as Zhao Heng stood in the courtyard, about to call Lu Meng to clean the wild chickens, a sharp gunshot shattered the peaceful village. Then, he heard the wailing of police sirens. Lu Meng, with his pants still on, rushed out of the house: "Damn! Amazing! A five-star pistol! Where did the shot come from?"
Lu Meng, who had a deep knowledge of firearms, easily identified the gun type.
"Whoosh—Whoosh—"
As he spoke, eight police cars, filled with a menacing aura, roared to the front of the Lu family's house. Dozens of armed Chinese police officers poured out, loudly ordering the villagers to retreat into the courtyard while keeping a wary eye on the mountain. Zhao Heng turned his head and saw a scene reminiscent of a movie gunfight.
In the fading light of the sunset, a bald man was seen holding a white-clad woman, emerging from the mountain. As they moved hurriedly but calmly, dozens of armed police officers cautiously approached. The lead officer shouted loudly: "Liu Baishu, release Miss Bei immediately! Surrender, and you will be treated leniently."
"Damn! Liu Baishu? The top red-listed fugitive?"
Lu Meng's eyes gleamed: "Kill him, one million!"
