Chapter 18: Hero Saves a Man

6 min read1,474 words

While listening, the fat man, whose hearing was not as sharp as Zhao Heng's, was puzzled. At the intersection where the alley connected to the road, two neatly folded cardboard boxes were knocked over, tumbling a few times before lying still on the road. Immediately after, numerous angry shouts from men followed, and the cries for help became clearer:

This time, the fat man also sensed something was wrong and stared at the intersection with wide eyes.

A young boy, about their age, suddenly ran out of the alley, panic-stricken. Due to his high speed, it was easy to create the illusion that he had appeared out of nowhere. The boy paused slightly when he reached the intersection, seeing someone blocking the way in Zhao Heng's direction, he instinctively turned around.

He wanted to run in another direction, but two black cars coming from that side made him stop again. In the end, he ran towards Zhao Heng. By this time, the group of men who had been chasing him in the alley also rushed out, each of them muscular and fierce, wielding thick pipes.

"Grab him! Grab him!"

In the dim light, the boy, under the orders of the men in black, ran frantically and soon reached a place where the streetlights could illuminate him. Zhao Heng and the fat man could clearly see the boy's face, which was pale from the intense exercise and fear, like a frightened animal.

The fat man pulled Zhao Heng back two meters to make way, but he didn't run away in fear. He knew that in a fight, the attackers had no reason, their minds filled with blood and savagery, and they would attack anyone who wasn't on their side. So, the fat man held his ground, though he was chilled by the pipes.

Zhao Heng glanced at the fat man: This guy is made for big things.

Because he had paused for a moment, the boy was quickly kicked to the ground by the leading burly man, his body dragged for several meters and crashed into the railing next to Zhao Heng. The man then rushed over and kicked the boy again, cursing, "Damn it! Running, huh?"

"Running, huh?"

The man was about 1.8 meters tall, his physique like a mountain compared to the boy. The exposed hair on his arms showed his excessive masculinity, and the black eye patch on his left eye made his face look terrifying, clearly a violent and ruthless person.

At this moment, he was kicking the boy's back:

"Trying to play tricks, huh? Want to die?"

The boy was soon beaten to the point of groaning. Then, two more men came up and lifted him. The one-eyed man slapped the boy hard and pulled his hair, continuing to curse, "Damn it! You can run, but I chased you for two streets, wasting my time."

"Don't you know our time is precious?"

In the next second, he slapped the boy again.

A trickle of blood flowed from the boy's mouth. Zhao Heng, not knowing the reason, didn't immediately step in to help. However, seeing the boy's thin body and helpless eyes, he clenched his fists in the dark. Then he heard the boy shout, "Hit me, go ahead and kill me, but I won't sign it—"

"I, Song Qingguan, would rather die than let that woman get my father's property."

The fat man was slightly stunned: Why does this name sound so familiar?

The boy shouted again, "If you have the guts, kill me."

Bang!

The leading man punched the boy in the stomach. As the boy's body curled up, the man grabbed his hair and said, "Still being stubborn? Your father is dead, and no one can protect you now. If you're smart, you'll sign the transfer agreement and hand over all the assets to Mrs. Song. Otherwise, we'll torture you slowly."

Despite the pain in his stomach, the boy stubbornly shouted, "I won't sign."

Zhao Heng and the fat man were both smart and quickly understood the underlying conflict from their conversation. It was a dispute within a wealthy family. The leading man, preparing to attack again, saw Zhao Heng and the fat man and shouted, "What are you two looking at? Get lost, or I'll chop you up and throw you in the river. Get lost."

The fat man's lips twitched, "In broad daylight—"

"Damn it! So much talk."

A burly man stepped forward, swinging his iron pipe at the fat man. To him, beating these two guys would have no consequences; they looked like commoners, and beating them would be pointless. The fat man saw the iron pipe coming and instinctively raised his eyebrows, his large body about to dodge.

Zhao Heng stepped forward.

He reached out with his right hand, grabbed the man's wrist, and then clenched it tightly. The overwhelming force in his fingers made the man's knuckles crack, breaking his hand! The man couldn't help but scream, like a fat pig stabbed in the middle of the night.

The iron pipe fell from the man's hand. Zhao Heng turned, grabbed the pipe with his other hand, and then struck the man's chin with the back of the pipe. Blood splattered, and the man, who had been screaming, suddenly fell silent, like a pig whose throat had been cut, and then crashed to the ground.

The sudden silence made everyone's senses feel strange.

The black-clad men and the white-clad boy were all shocked, clearly not expecting Zhao Heng to be so ruthless. Qiao Yuncai felt extremely ashamed, realizing how weak and inferior he was compared to Zhao Heng. Such a weak person claiming to be a leader was a joke. He decided to call Zhao Heng "boss" from now on.

The white-clad boy's eyes sparkled with admiration and gratitude.

"Who dares to hit my brother? Kill him!"

The leading man didn't expect Zhao Heng to be so fierce, incapacitating his companion with one move. Seeing his comrade severely injured, he immediately shouted, and two men rushed from both sides, swinging their iron pipes at Zhao Heng's head. Zhao Heng, holding the bloodied iron pipe, didn't retreat but advanced, striking both men, who screamed and flew backward.

Their wrists were broken by Zhao Heng.

"Damn it! Kill him."

The one-eyed man was shocked and became even more violent, ordering his subordinates to attack. But before he could finish speaking, Zhao Heng kicked the injured man on the ground, sending his large body crashing into the group of attackers, knocking several of them down. Zhao Heng then charged forward, swinging the iron pipe continuously.

"Clang," "Clang," "Clang"

The sudden metallic clashes seemed to form a long, continuous sound. Zhao Heng's iron pipe swung like lightning, the wind whistling fiercely and briefly, making the night seem terrifying. Blood splattered, people fell, and the ground shook, all intertwined with earth-shattering roars and screams, creating a massive din.

The scene was chaotic for a moment.

A red mist of blood spread, illuminated by the streetlights, creating a strangely beautiful scene. In less than two minutes, over a dozen men lay on the ground groaning. Zhao Heng stood like a war god among the fallen bodies, his back illuminated by the streetlights, exuding a powerful aura that made others dare not oppose him.

The fat man and the white-clad boy were dumbfounded, forgetting to cheer. The one-eyed man's lips twitched, his eyes filled with shock and fear of Zhao Heng. He knew his own level; compared to his companions, he was indeed a step higher, but compared to Zhao Heng, he was far, far behind, with no chance of winning.

"Brother, let's settle—"

The one-eyed man tried to intimidate Zhao Heng with his reputation, but Zhao Heng didn't listen and stepped on his left foot, causing a bone-cracking sound. The sudden intense pain made the one-eyed man's face contort, and he forgot to scream, his toes broken by Zhao Heng.

Then, he fell to the ground in a helpless position.

Zhao Heng tapped his chin with the iron pipe, "What were you thinking?"

The one-eyed man was filled with sorrow and anger but dared not resist. He passed out from the pain. Zhao Heng threw the bloodied iron pipe on the ground, patted his hands, and signaled to the fat man, then returned to the school. After such an incident, he had no mood for eating roast chicken. As for the white-clad boy, he believed the boy would call the police to handle the aftermath.

Qiao Yuncai, impressed by Zhao Heng, followed closely behind:

"Boss, you're awesome, boss, you're fierce."
