"Listen up, Tory, you mustn't approach strange people in the capital."
In the carriage, it was Brian who kindly said this to me. We are currently heading to the capital to create a will.
It seems that this is a summons from the king, so there is no right to refuse. The Earl, Paul, Brian, Oliver, and probably I, Middleton, are all going.
"Of course, the 65-year-old Mike uncle, who is creating the will this time, will also be there."
According to Brian, nobles have the obligation to create a will through a magic contract by the age of 65. A magic contract is, as the name suggests, a contract performed by a magician, and it seems that the people named in the will must be present.
Brian, in the carriage, is taking care of me and teaching me various things. When I try to get out of the carriage during a break, he naturally offers me his hand, like a gentleman.
"As a witness, this time, members of the royal family and important people from the temple will also be there. In addition, several of Middleton's spouses will be present to witness, so your mother will be waiting for us in the capital."
While saying this, Brian smoothly took a handkerchief from his chest pocket and placed it where I was sitting. He even offered me a glass of water, truly taking good care of me.
"Um, can I ask you something?"
"What is it?"
"Are there magicians?"
I can't help but be more interested in this than the will because I have never seen or heard of magic in this world. Besides, the word 'magic' seems to be full of dreams. I listen to Brian's explanation with excitement, wondering if I might be able to use magic too.
"There are a few magicians. I know that you can see magicians when creating a will, when a noble gets married, or when making a big contract."
It seems that magicians only appear during contracts.
This might not be what I expected, but I'll check just in case.
"Do magicians fly in the sky?"
"Eh? Why would magicians fly in the sky?"
Brian looked genuinely puzzled.
Oliver, pointing at me, laughed.
"What, Tory, you thought magicians could fly, hahaha."
"Um, then, can they make fire or water come out of their hands?"
"Why would magicians be able to do that?"
Oliver laughed so hard he was in tears.
The Earl looked at me with a smile, as if finding it endearing.
As for Paul,
"I thought Tory was more mature for a four-year-old, but it's reassuring to see you have a childlike side."
I am mature for a four-year-old because of my memories from my previous life.
However, this time, that doesn't matter.
I genuinely thought that magicians could fly in the sky and make fire or water come out of their hands.
"Um, can they make light come out of their hands to heal injuries?"
"No, they can't."
"Ah, and can they bend spoons?"
No, that's not magic, it's a superpower.
But then, Paul took a spoon from his luggage and bent it with force.
"I can bend it."
"Wow."
"Yeah."
Paul looked proud, and I couldn't say it was different.
"Tory, just remember that magicians are people who make documents absolutely binding."
I nodded slightly, looking away from the spoon as Brian said this.
At that moment, I realized that magic in this world has no dreams.
Despite this, the Middleton family's grand move continued.
Thanks to the Earl, we were welcomed in every town we visited, stayed in luxury accommodations, and thanks to Paul, the captain of the knights, we didn't encounter any bandits or thieves in dangerous areas. The journey was going smoothly.
This trip is progressing much faster than expected.
"It's all thanks to four-year-old Tory not complaining once, but are you not overdoing it?"
When Paul asked me this, I thought I had made a mistake. I just realized that a normal four-year-old would probably be a bit spoiled during a trip. Indeed, I was bored, my bottom hurt, and I wanted a break, but since I wasn't carrying anything and was just sitting in the carriage, I felt I was having it easier than anyone else, so I didn't say anything.
I couldn't say that I felt like an adult, so I laughed it off.
The carriage arrived in the capital without any problems. The capital was lively, full of people, and the streets were clean.
On this trip, I learned that the Middleton men are very popular. Whenever we went to a crowded place, the Middleton family would attract attention, and young girls would squeal, and everyone would respond as if it were normal.
Among them, Paul, who is single, was especially popular. As the captain of the knights, his cheerful smile and the way he handled the girls made him a true heartthrob.
However, Paul took separate action as soon as we arrived in the capital.
"Paul is checking if any of the women he dated in the past is Tory's mother."
Oliver, who was wiping my dirty hands, told me this. Thanks to Oliver, who is a cleanliness enthusiast, the carriage was spotless. Even during the journey, everyone's clothes were wrinkle-free and clean, all thanks to Oliver. I think being a cleanliness enthusiast can be very useful.
"Oliver, you're amazing. The carriage and clothes are so clean and cool."
Oliver's smile was so cute that the atmosphere in the carriage became warm and cozy.
That night,
I found myself in another drama.
"This child is mine."
"No, I gave birth to this child."
In front of me were two women claiming to be my mother and Paul, who was scratching his chin, looking troubled. It seems that two women he had relationships with five years ago were both claiming to have given birth to me.
"Who do you think is your mother, Tory?"
When Paul said this, both women glared at me.
"I am your mother."
"Oh, I am your mom."
As expected of the women who were with the heartthrob Paul, they were beautiful, though of different types. However, their overwhelming presence made me take a step back.
Even if one of these two women is my mother, I wouldn't know, so I smiled awkwardly and got through the situation.
In the end, we didn't know who the mother was that day, but I learned that both women still had feelings for Paul.
Later, the Middleton family investigated and found out that neither of them was my mother.
This confirmed that Paul was not my father.
I had thought it would be nice if Paul were my father because he had always been kind to me. He is probably kind to everyone, but I was saved by his kindness and was very happy.
"Have a good dream."
Even on the night when I found out he wasn't my father, he kissed my cheek before bed and said this.
"Um,"
"Hm? What is it?"
I leaned in and kissed Paul's cheek.
"Have a good dream."
I quickly covered myself with the blanket, so I couldn't see Paul's face.
"Hehe, good night."
But his words sounded very kind.
