Gu Qing swallowed a mouthful of saliva. He had been wandering in this desolate mountain for three days, with no signal on his phone, and still no sign of human habitation or rescue. A few days ago, he was still climbing a mountain with his friends, but he never expected that after climbing to the top of a hill, his friends had disappeared. Looking at the endless hills before him, he thought, "Where the hell am I?"
What made Gu Qing even more uneasy was that he had shrunk, becoming the size of a seven or eight-year-old child.
He reluctantly stood up, feeling dizzy and disoriented after just a few steps. He hadn't eaten anything since finishing the last compressed biscuit two days ago, and although he still had some candies, eating only sugar wasn't very helpful.
He looked up at the sky with a weak and powerless gaze, wishing that a white-bearded old man would come down from the distant horizon on a seven-colored cloud to take his life!
No... it should be to take him home.
Gu Qing looked up at the sky, and everything around him seemed to be spinning. He blacked out and lost consciousness.
The smell of burning wood and a strong herbal scent filled the air. When he regained consciousness, Gu Qing could hear voices nearby. He slowly opened his eyes and saw an old face staring at him.
"Indeed, it's a white-bearded old man..." he muttered, and then fainted again.
Sun Simiao, dressed in tattered clothes, had been feeling his pulse for a long time. He muttered, "Why did he faint again? This child is too weak."
When he woke up for the second time, Gu Qing felt dizzy and had a spicy taste in his mouth. He looked down and saw that he was naked, lying on a pile of dry grass.
Sun Simiao saw that Gu Qing was awake and held out a bowl of medicine, "Child, you're awake? Drink this medicine."
Gu Qing, still tasting something strange in his mouth, looked at the black liquid in the bowl, which had some leaves floating in it, and said, "I won't drink it!"
"It's fine if you don't drink it. You've already had one bowl," Sun Simiao continued, "Let me feel your pulse again to see how you're recovering."
Gu Qing let him feel his pulse and asked, "Old man, where are we?"
"This is the Tang Dynasty, near Jingzhou," Sun Simiao said after feeling his pulse and nodding, "It seems you're recovering well."
"The Tang Dynasty?" Gu Qing was still in shock, "Old man, don't play with me! I need to get home."
"Huh." Sun Simiao snorted, "I, Sun Simiao, never lie!"
"Sun... you're really Sun Simiao? I'm Hua Tuo then." Gu Qing jumped up in a hurry, "Where are my clothes!"
Sun Simiao pointed to a pile of clothes nearby, "Little one, there are big cats in these mountains. I'll take you home."
Home? Hearing this, Gu Qing's eyes lit up again. He quickly put on the clothes, which were several sizes too big for him. He didn't care if the old man was crazy; as long as he could get out of the mountains and make a rescue call, he could go home.
The mountains were full of thorns and shrubs, making it difficult for the old man and the child to walk.
"Why do you have all these herbs in your bamboo basket?" Gu Qing asked, carrying the bag as he walked beside him.
Sun Simiao lifted the bamboo basket on his back and said, "These are medicinal herbs to treat the sick people in the village ahead. These herbs are for their treatment."
Gu Qing's mouth twitched as he listened...
After walking for half a day, they finally left the mountains. However, the scene before him completely shattered his worldview. What was going on... The village had many residents, all dressed in ancient clothing, and the houses were simple thatched huts, with some mud plastered on them. In the distance, there was a large city.
Sun Simiao started treating the villagers, and Gu Qing stood there, unable to regain his composure. What kind of place is this? Did I travel through time?
In the following days, Gu Qing kept walking, asking people outside the village frantically. When he returned to Sun Simiao, he slapped him across the face.
Sun Simiao was taken aback by the sudden slap.
"Does it hurt?" Gu Qing asked.
Sun Simiao, his temper flaring, also slapped Gu Qing on the back of the head, "Does it hurt?"
"It hurts!" Gu Qing nodded vigorously.
Alright... I really did travel through time, and I'm in the Tang Dynasty. This seems to be real. In the days that followed, Gu Qing was a bit dazed, helping Sun Simiao prepare and administer medicine, reluctantly accepting this absurd reality.
If I really traveled back in time while climbing the mountain, I should have been a baby, a cell nucleus, or something fertilized? But I'm still alive... I can't figure it out, so I won't think about it! It hurts my head.
"Do you know where your home is?" Sun Simiao asked.
Gu Qing muttered, "I can't go back, I can't find it."
"Very well..." Sun Simiao sighed, "The war has just ended, and many people are displaced. I have seen many such cases in my travels. Why don't you travel with me as my disciple? Perhaps you will find your way home somewhere along the way."
This Sun Simiao is really good at treating people. Gu Qing noticed that many sick villagers recovered under his treatment. The spring breeze blew for miles, painting the land with lush greenery, a sight not often seen.
"The water is not clean. These people have stomachaches from eating dirty things. If we clean up the upstream area, it should be fine." Sun Simiao was talking to the villagers while busy preparing medicine. He saw Gu Qing sitting on a rock, lost in thought, and said, "Child, come and help me."
"No time!" Gu Qing replied with a lifeless expression.
Sun Simiao picked up Gu Qing by the collar, "Why are you so lazy, child!"
This old man was quite strong. Gu Qing helped weakly, adding firewood and being choked by the smoke. In the distance, the sound of hooves could be heard, and a carriage swayed toward them, stopping in front of them. A middle-aged man got out, "Is this Sun the Divine Doctor?"
Sun Simiao put down what he was doing and bowed, recognizing the official's rank, "I am Sun Simiao, and I greet the Governor of Jingzhou."
After saying this, Gu Qing saw Sun Simiao glare at him and had to follow and bow.
"Who is this?" the man asked, looking at Gu Qing.
Sun Simiao smiled, "He is my disciple, found in the mountains."
Found... Gu Qing glared at Sun Simiao, resisting with his eyes, thinking, "I haven't even let you be my master yet."
"Ha ha ha..." the man laughed dryly, "I heard that the divine doctor Sun is treating people here, so I came. My daughter is also seriously ill. Could you, divine doctor Sun..."
Sun Simiao nodded, "Wait for me for half an hour."
Gu Qing saw the old man finish boiling all the medicine and then distribute it to the villagers.
He took Gu Qing onto the carriage, which swayed as it moved forward. Wu Shiyi looked at Gu Qing's clothes and said, "May I ask where this young brother is from? I have never seen such clothes before."
"I come from a very distant place," Gu Qing replied evasively.
Wu Shiyi didn't ask further. After entering the city, they arrived at a courtyard. Following Sun Simiao inside, they saw many servants. The ancient and elegant architecture showed that the rich in ancient times also enjoyed life. If this house were in modern times, the land area alone would be worth a lot of money.
