Chapter 4

In the living room, alpha and omega pheromones exploded together and entangling with each other, swaying around in a circle.
Uncle Liu and Aunty Jiang were surprised.
Shao Mingyu had never marked any omega, temporary or permanent. Uncle Liu thought that even if Yu Lan was brought home by him, he wouldn’t be willing to go to such lengths for Yu Lan.
But he didn’t expect…
Aunty Jiang tugged at him and whispered, “Let’s go, we shouldn’t stay here right now.”
Uncle Liu returned to his senses and nodded immediately, following Aunty Jiang out of the living look at a loss, not daring to disturb the two, who were making temporary markings by the sofa.
On the edge of the sofa, Yu Lan sat in Shao Mingyu’s arms, almost losing all his strength.
The back of his neck was bitten. The man’s teeth biting into his glands hurt a little, yet the alpha pheromones injected felt like an instantaneous flow of electricity running through his body.
He shuddered. His eyes blurred, only to feel invaded by the man’s scent.
Trying to hold on to something, but at the same time, not being able to hold on to anything.

Yu Lan unconsciously hummed. His cheeks, eyes and neck flushed red.
He suddenly remembered that every time the estrus came in the pas, the trafficker couple’s son would crouch outside the metal bars after throwing the inhibitor at them.
He was a beta but was very fascinated with omegas. Unfortunately, the trafficker couple wouldn’t let him touch them. After all, if he did, they wouldn’t be able to sell them for more.
So this fat beta could only crouch outside the metal bars and stare at them with a pair of small eyes, watching them painfully inject themselves with inhibitors reluctantly and venting disgusting words.
“I’ll pray for you to get sold soon and when you do, you’ll have someone to help you through your heat, so you won’t have to work so hard to give yourself shots. You guys don’t even know how pleasurable marking is,” he said as his eyes went back and forth between a few omegas and swallowing his saliva. “Marking really doesn’t hurt.”
So Yu Lan loathed the so-called mark.
It must be a very disgusting thing.
However, at this moment, the man’s gentle scent wrapped around him and all of it transformed into a sense of security.
There are many people in the world and he has probably already encountered the most disgusting ones.
But there must be many more good people.
Like Uncle Liu and Aunty Jiang.
Like Officer Song and Assistant Lin.
And Mr Shao.
The man who had saved him, protected him, taken him away and decided to take care of him.
He had a clean scent and seemed indifferent, but he was gentle in every move.
Yu Lan didn’t reject Mr Shao at all.
He knew nothing about marking. He thought this thing that was always talked about by the beta would be hard for him to accept.
But that’s not really true.
It’s probably because of the person.
When occupied by Mr Shao’s scent, Yu Lan’s chest was filled with only reassurance.
After a while, Yu Lan leaned against Shao Mingyu’s shoulder, his brows already loosened.
His eyes were lightly closed, calmly breathing, his heart beating like a drum.
Shao Mingyu was still using his pheromones to soothe him. When he spoke, his voice was a little low, “Did you get a headache just now?”
Yu Lan nodded, opened his eyes and moved. His limbs were still a little limp.
Taking a deep breath, he sat up a little straighter and rubbed his head and quietly said, “Old habits die hard…”
Shao Mingyu frowned and said, “Did you not tell the doctor today? I’ll have the doctor come back tomorrow.”
Yu Lan was a bit dazed, turned around and said, “I didn’t think of that because…because everyone who was locked up there gets hurt. We’re used to it. Eh, are we really going to have the doctor come back tomorrow?”
Yu Lan felt as if he was bothering the doctor a little too much?
Shao Mingyu paused when he heard those words, his eyes darkening.
Yu Lan’s heart tightened.
Mr Shao…is angry?
Shao Mingyu’s eyes narrowed and asked, “When was the last time it hurt?”
Yu Lan nervously said, “Yes…yesterday?”
Shao Mingyu closed his eyes.
There wasn’t a point in asking “why didn’t you tell us” again.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the young man with sweat on his forehead looking apprehensively at him.
He was really skinny, wearing clothes that supposedly fit him, but he felt that they were empty.
His face was very small. He thought it would look better if it were a little rounder.
There was a slight greenish tinge under those eyes, which were trances from years of work and rest, but it didn’t hide the beauty of those eyes at all.
Against such a pair of eyes, Shao Mingyu’s face relaxed.
He stretched out his hand.
Yu Lan shrunk his neck.
However, his fingertips only wiped away some of the sweat from Yu Lan’s forehead.
“Yu Lan.”
Yu Lan nervously looked at the man.
The man softly said, “If you feel any pain in the future, even if it is only a little, please tell me, okay?”
Yu Lan shuddered.
“Don’t get used to the pain,” Shao Mingyu said while gazing at him. “There is no need to get used to it.”
Yu Lan was mute.
No one had ever said anything like that to him before.
All the people locked in the cages could only suffer in silence when they were in pain.
There was no way to share and there was nothing anyone could do. Each person suffered and endured their own pain, and over time, it became a habit.
Yu Lan lowered his head, his nose and eyes sore.
Mr Shao…
Shao Mingyu held Yu Lan back into his arms and asked beside his ears, “Does it still hurt?”
Yu Lan sniffed and softly said, “A little bit.”
Shao Mingyu lightly chuckled.
Another stream of alpha pheromones flowed out, gently wrapping around Yu Lan and flooded into his body.
Everywhere it reached was gently soothed.
All the pain gradually subsided and disappeared.
Is this what a temporary mark is?
Yu Lan quietly touched the back of his neck.
This was the place that Mr Shao had bitten him. It seemed like he could still feel a bit of the tooth marks.
“Mr Shao.” Yu Lan whispered.
“Hm?” The man’s voice came from above.
“Will…will I get pregnant?” Yu Lan blushed and shamefully asked.
Shao Mingyu, “…”
Shao Mingyu, “You won’t.”
t/n: you will in the future ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
A few seconds later.
Shao Mingyu, “Listen to class carefully in the future.”
Yu Lan, “…Okay.”
He’ll study hard…
*
Uncle Liu and Aunt Jiang only dared to appear, when Shao Mingyu carried Yu Lan upstairs and came back down.
The two of them looked at Shao Mingyu with very tentative eyes.
Shao Mingyu glanced at the two.
Uncle Liu asked, “…Then in the future?”
Shao Mingyu glanced upstairs and said, “Yu Lan shouldn’t be used to being so close to other alpha, so I’ll be in charge of his temporary markings from now on.”
His encounter with Yu Lan was special, which was probably why Yu Lan accepted his approach so quickly and so easily.
Shao Mingyu said so, of course, Uncle Liu was fine with it. He himself felt it was a little inappropriate to have his son give Yu Lan a temporary mark.
However, he really didn’t expect that Mr Shao would be so gentle to that kid.
Shao Mingyu thought about it and said to Uncle Liu, “Starting next week, I’ll hire a teacher to teach Yu Lan, so it’s fine for you to take him around a bit first.”
“Yes, yes.” Uncle Liu flatly agreed.
He could also tell that Yu Lan had a very heavy curiosity about everything.
Yu Lan was put directly on the bed by Shao Mingyu, and as soon as the man left, he wrapped himself up in the blanket.
His heart pounded wildly for a while. He burrowed back into the blanket and sniffed.
Mr Shao’s scent still seems to be here!
It’s escaping from his body!
Yu Lan put his head on the pillow and rolled around, wondering what he was so excited about.
When he’d gotten his hair all messed up, he flushed a red and told himself to hurry up and go to sleep!
The next day, instead of sleeping through the sunrise, Yu Lan got up early in the morning.
Just in time as Shao Ming-Yu was also having breakfast, so the two sat down face to face.
Shao Mingyu read the newspaper. Yu Lan looked at him, took a bite of bread, looked at him, drank milk, and before he knew it, his cheeks and ears were red.
Shao Mingyu unintentionally noticed Yu Lan’s demeanour and stopped moving.
Setting down his cup, he spoke, “Yu Lan.”
“Hm?” Yu Lan put down his cup of milk.
Shao Mingyu considered it and said, “Temporary marks can have some influence on you and you may not be able to distinguish it the first time you receive one.”
Yu Lan was startled.
Shao Mingyu said, “Those feelings will disappear after a week. They’re not real.”
