Ch31 - Elopement

Bai Xi dashed down the stairs. The whole family was asleep, so he matched his steps with the quietness of the villa. His footsteps clattered softly like a deer slipping out of the forest.

As he ran outside, he felt surreal. He could not understand why Qi Xun, who should have been in the next city, suddenly appeared downstairs at his parent’s house.

But in just a few minutes, he emerged from the garden, walked around the fence and the bushes beside the door, and suddenly threw himself into Qi Xun’s arms outside the garden.

In just a few minutes, he made his way through the garden, passed the fence and the bushes by the gate, arrived outside and immediately jumped into Qi Xun’s arms..

And Qi Xun caught him.

Bai Xi still wore his indoor slippers and his soft pajamas.

The street lights lit up the small open space around them as the fine snow fell from the sky like willow catkins.

Qi Xun lowered his head to look at the high-spirited man.

Qi Xun smiled unknowingly.

He could not give the reason why he rushed back, it was not his style at all.

Today was just Valentine’s Day, not a race to lock in on a major agreement, where it was subject to change with each delay. So even if today was over, he could still make it up to Bai Xi.

But earlier, after he sent his aunt’s family to the airport, he checked his watch and found it was only a little past nine o’clock. He thought that if he departs now, he still have time to get back before midnight.

Thus, he stepped on the accelerator without much hesitation. Because in his mind, he thought about how Bai Xi should be happy to see him.

And Bai Xi was indeed delighted. He lay in his arms like a kitten, the only thing missing was a fury short tail swaying back and forth.

He helped Percy straighten the messy hair on his temples, and explained, “After the banquet, I found that I still had time, so I rushed over. After all, it’s our first Valentine’s Day together, and it’s not okay for you to spend it alone. It’s a bit much.”

The heater in the car was still on. Bai Xi did not feel cold at all despite wearing only his pajamas and barefoot in slippers.

But as soon as he entered the car, he was attracted by the roses placed in the trunk – a small rose basket filled with red and pink roses, and the basket was tied with beautiful silk ribbons.

Bai Xi was surprised. He did not know that Qi Xun had secretly prepared a gift.

He opened the box.

There was a pair of pearl stud earrings in the dark green silk satin box. The design was very old-fashioned. The perfectly round pearls were smooth and glistening. The studs were decorated with two small emeralds, which were equally bright and sparkling.

Bai Xi always had a habit of wearing earrings.

“I preordered this in advance,” Qi Xun took the earrings out of the box. “You should be tired of what I bought you last time, so I thought it would be a good time for a change.”

As he spoke, he put them on Bai Xi’s ear.

Bai Xi did not move a single muscle, obediently allowing Qi Xun to fuss over.

They captured each other’s lips, as their tongues danced within. It was hard to tell who was biting who.

The fragrance of roses in the car made people’s hands and feet weak, and Bai Xi’s head was also dizzy. He hugged Qi Xun’s neck, like a drowning man who could only surface by relying on Qi Xun.

This was really like an elopement.

There was heavy snow outside, the road was empty and silent like a fantasy world, and they were two runaway lovers, neither asking the way ahead nor the destination.

Their destination was not some isolated island or a secluded town, but the nearest highly rated hotel.

As they booked their room, Bai Xi looked up at the young lady at the front desk before lowering it in a slight embarrassment.

The girl at the front desk was very curious about their story.

As soon as the door was closed and before all the lights turned on, the two kissed again.

The pajamas and the suit shirts were mixed and fell to the ground.

The two crashed on the bed, their limbs intertwined but never broke their kiss.

The snow outside was silent, the winter night rustled, but the room was warm like the evening of spring.

It was an amazing lover’s escape, an indication of a love affair.
