C7 – A Thousand Times Yes
At Pool Feather Mountain Manor.
Inside the main hall.
Gu Feidao, the master of Pool Feather Mountain Manor, sat at the top with both hands on the armrest of his seat. The man looked in his sixties, his face covered with wrinkles, and he was wearing a dark green robe and a silk cloak. While his sideburns were white, the rest of his hair was still ebony and his eyes were deep and bright, which added to his majestic authority.
He had his daughter at an old age, so he looked more like Gu Siyin’s grandfather rather than her father.
Below the master sat three people, all dressed in an ivory long robe with faint blue dark patterns on it, which sparkled as light shone on them.
The robe was the symbol of identity of a disciple from Water Moon Dock.
The handsome young man sitting in the first seat was holding a folding fan sprinkled with gold powder. He acted just like a noble young master from an aristocratic family, only his expression was exceptionally cold, and his eyes were filled with arrogance, which made him seem a bit mean. He was Yue Longzhang, a disciple at the Foundation Establishment Stage from Water Moon Dock.
Next to him sat a younger teenager named Ma Shu, with big round eyes and a likable face. He was a bit shy and would often blush whenever others looked at him. He was only at the Qi Cultivation Stage.
The third person looked quite mysterious, wearing a large hat with a white veil covering the face, so people couldn’t see the person’s face clearly. They could hardly tell if the person was a man or a woman.
In fact, the people in the manor were quite puzzled. Earlier according to Water Moon Dock, only two disciples were sent, but now, there was one more disciple here… Curious as they were, they wouldn’t dare to ask.
Gu Siyin, who had spent almost half the night last night crying in Liu Yuan’s arms, sat on the armchair on the right side of Gu Feidao. She lowered her head and took a sip of tea. From her bulging cheeks, one could tell that she was very dissatisfied and unhappy.
She was petite, so when she sat on the large chair, her two feet in fluffy embroidered shoes couldn’t even reach the ground. Almost her entire body was covered by the large skirt, making her look even more exquisite and cute.
The hall was in silence. Only the slight sound of the maids placing the teacups could be heard.
Actually, this whole thing was a bit absurd, because they were here to discuss the marriage between Xue Zhui and Gu Siyin, but Xue Zhui was not qualified to enter the hall and had to wait outside.
Gu Feidao and the leading disciple Yue Longzhang had been chatting for a while.
The marriage was almost settled.
Gu Feidao said, “I’m glad that today we’ve settled the official date of the wedding. My sincere apologies for our negligence in etiquette the other day. Here, let’s raise our cups and bury the hatchet.”
Even though the guests were cultivators, Gu Feidao’s expression did not change much as he raised the teacup and drank the tea all in one gulp.
“Pah.”
Yue Longzhang closed the fan, picked up the teacup as well and smiled. “Don’t mention it. Master Gu is too polite. Your Pool Feather Mountain Manor is well-known in the country and even among us immortal cultivators as well. Besides, we are only juniors, so how can we hold a grudge? “
The young man didn’t sound respectful with his sarcastic tone, which made everyone in the manor frown disapprovingly.
However, Gu Feidao didn’t even raise his eyebrow; instead, he just said, “That’s very thoughtful of you to say so.”
Yue Longzhang lightly sipped his tea. He looked at the tea leaves in the cup and could sense the angry gazes around him. However, Gu Feidao appeared very calm and composed. Yue Longzhang secretly sneered in his heart.
It seemed that this so-called magnate was just a mortal after all. There was nothing special about him.
Originally he thought that Gu Feidao might have broken through to the Nascent Soul Stage with his martial skills. But now it turned out that he was nothing but a coward afraid of immortal sects.
If it wasn’t for the mission of the sect, Yue Longzhang, the chief inner sect disciple of Water Moon Dock, wouldn’t have come to such a lowly residence in the first place. Even the tea served here tasted so bad, without any spiritual energy to be savored!
Forget it. As long as Xue Zhui could successfully enter Pool Feather Mountain Manor, their mission would be completed.
It was a pity, though, to see such a beauty marry to a man like Xue Zhui.
Yue Longzhang’s gaze fell upon Gu Siyin. Her beauty was rare even among cultivators. She was way too good for Xue Zhui.
Gu Siyin noticed his gaze and returned it with a fierce glare.
A trace of gloominess flashed across Yue Longzhang’s eyes, but he still managed to put on a smile and said, “Miss Gu, I wonder if the wedding dress fits?”
This question was just like the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Gu Siyin once again thought of how she had been crying her eyes out last night in this damned wedding dress and how her Brother Junxuan had gently comforted her, and she suddenly felt so aggrieved.
She put down the teacup and jumped down from the chair, “It doesn’t fit! It doesn’t fit at all! It’s ugly! I’d rather hang myself than get married in such a hideous wedding dress! You know what? I quit. I won’t get married with that Xue Zhui!”
Her sudden outburst of anger shocked everyone else in the hall, and there was a brief moment of silence.
Housekeeper He Ren was the first one to come to his senses. He immediately took a few steps towards Gu Siyin and geared himself up for the protection of the young miss, in case the three Water Moon Dock disciples might do anything to harm her.
Yue Longzhang’s face stiffened, then he stood up and scolded, “This wedding dress is specially chosen by our Water Moon Dock. It is made of spiritual silk and can be considered a generous gift even in the world of cultivation. How dare you call it hideous?!”
He then shifted his gaze to Gu Feidao and continued in a stern voice, “Master Gu, if you don’t show any disrespect to Water Moon Dock, then don’t blame us for not respecting Pool Feather Mountain Manor as well. If you wish to end the marriage, then help yourself, but I must advise you to think twice about the consequences of becoming enemies with Water Moon Dock!”
Yue Longzhang’s expression was ice-cold. He opened the fan in his hand. The fan bones were like thin swords, flickering with a dark blue light. The aura of a Foundation-Establishing-Stage expert was fully released, and those servants without any martial arts almost fell to the ground in fear.
Ma Shu was also startled. He stood up and carefully advised, “Senior brother, please calm down. Perhaps it’s the style of the dress that is not to Miss Gu’s liking…”
The mysterious person wearing the hat and veil sat still, calm as Mount Tai, and picked up the teacup to take another sip.
The atmosphere in the hall was tense, but everyone knew very well that the marriage had been settled, however unwilling Gu Siyin was.
And now that she had lost her temper, Water Moon Dock might give Poor Feather Mountain Manor a hard time.
Alas, what was the use of it…
He Ren smiled bitterly at this thought, and then his gaze became firm. No matter what, he had to protect the young miss.
Yue Longzhang flicked his sleeve and ignored Ma Shu. He snorted coldly and said, “Master Gu, what do you say?”
Gu Feidao sighed and stood up, “I hope you will forgive the manners of my daughter…”
These words made Yue Longzhang’s expression ease up a bit, and the corners of his mouth curled up into an arrogant and cold laugh, while people of the manor all felt aggrieved and resentful.
Tears were about to fall from Gu Siyin’s eyes. Then, to everyone’s surprise, Gu Feidao suddenly changed his tone and shouted, “But let’s just be clear, it’s not that Pool Feather Mountain Manor doesn’t know how to behave properly, but that Water Moon Dock has gone too far!” A flash of frightening cold light burst out from his eyes.
“What?”
Yue Longzhang was intimidated by the imposing aura of the older man, and he subconsciously took a step back. His face stiffened, and he looked shocked and angry.
“With all due respect, it is very unwise of you to push your luck like that!”
Gu Feidao looked down from above at Yue Longzhang, like a lion looking at its prey. With his hands behind his back, he continued, “Although I’m not young any more, I haven’t lost my touch. In fact, I killed several cultivators at the Core Forming Stage just a few years back. Even the elders of Water Moon Dock have to show some respect when he comes here. And you, you are merely a junior at the Foundation Establishment Stage, so where do you get the nerve to act so tyrannically in front of me?”
“How dare you talking to me like that! I am an immortal cultivator and you are just a mortal!”
Yue Longzhang was furious. In a fit of rage, he circulated the Spiritual Energy and slammed it on the table. The table instantly exploded with a bang, and a wave of air rolled, sending everyone nearby half a step away.
Gu Feidao waved his hand and shot out a stream of inner energy to protect Gu Siyin, while the remaining energy shattered the teacups on the table. With a bang, the pure white porcelain cups broke into pieces and sputtered.
“Ah!” Startled, Gu Siyin subconsciously closed her eyes and cried out in fear.
…
Liu Yuan ran to the entrance of the hall and wanted to find out what was going on inside.
There weren’t many guards at the entrance, because almost all the people gathered in the hall were top experts in the entire manor.
There was Gu Feidao, master of Pool Feather Mountain Manor, who had defeated cultivators at the Core Forming Stage, and He Ren, the housekeeper as well as leader of the manor assassination organization. Besides, there were a couple of disciples from Water Moon Dock at the Foundation Establishing Stage.
With these powerful people together, of course there was no need for guards outside the hall.
Liu Yuan decided to take a closer look…
He looked around warily and then squatted in the underbrush. He carefully pried open the underbrush and, like some assassin, sneaked towards the hall.
And he made it!
He was sure if it was because of his awesome movement skill or because the guards were too weak, but he successfully made his way to the hall.
Liu Yuan leaned against the wall and eavesdropped.
The wedding was set one month later, and based on his knowledge of the story, things wouldn’t go wrong.
“Bang!”
The sound of cups and tables clattering could be heard in the hall, followed by a young girl’s scream, “I’m not marrying him! No way!”
Liu Yuan was stunned for a moment and then heard a few loud shouts. This twist was quite unexpected.
“Bang!” The sound of the table being slammed could be heard.
Even the windows and walls were noticeably shaking. The look on Liu Yuan’s face instantly changed.
Something was wrong! This was different from what he knew… What was going on?!
If his memory served him right, things should have proceeded smoothly at the moment!
How come they started fighting?
While Liu Yuan was trying his best to calm down, chaos was going on inside the hall. Clattering sounds and people’s shouts were non-stop.
Among the noises, Liu Yuan could actually distinguish Gu Siyin’s voice, which sounded like a kitten’s.
“Ah!” She was screaming in panic.
Liu Yuan’s heart skipped a beat and he subconsciously cried out, “Siyin!”
The moment he shouted out loud, he knew that things were not good. Yue Longzhang had already turned to look at the window, veins on his forehead bulging. A cold light flashed across his eyes as he shouted, “Who is it?”
“Pah!”
At the same time, he flicked his sleeve, and a wave of Spiritual Qi blasted out and smashed into the wall. In an instant, the walls cracked open and collapsed.
Behind the ruins stood Liu Yuan.
Cold sweat rolled down Liu Yuan’s forehead, and he let out a sigh of relief. If he had not quickly retreated a few steps, he would have been seriously injured by the Spiritual Energy.
‘Lucky me…’ he thought to himself.
Then, he raised his head and saw a big hole in the wall. Everyone in the hall was looking at him.
For a while, no one spoke.
It was very quiet.
Liu Yuan saw Gu Siyin’s tearful but happy little face, the dignified old master, as well as the handsome young man who seemed very furious and was glaring at him.
That was Yue Longzhang!
Liu Yuan recognized this NPC. He was the leading disciple of Water Moon Dock. In the game story, he was considered a minor boss.
Yue Longzhang’s eyes flashed and as his spiritual sense swept over, he immediately found that the young man eavesdropping outside the hall was only a mortal.
He sneered and said, “Very well! Pool Feather Mountain Manor is really full of surprise! You eavesdropping little man, I will end your despicable life!”
Yue Longzhang had already formed the spell in his hand, and with a flick of his finger, a flash of sword light appeared.
It all happened so fast. The sharp sword light cut through the air, producing an ear-piercing sound as it rushed towards Liu Yuan at lightning speed!
Liu Yuan froze on the spot. Fright possessed him and he could only stand stiffly. The attack was from someone at the Foundation Establishing Stage, who was much more powerful than he was!
How could he be a match for Yue Longzhang? To the people in the manor, he was just a stranger who was staying over. There was no way they would risk their lives helping him, not to mention that he had been eavesdropping!
He was doomed…
Liu Yuan felt desperate. The sword light was approaching him and he could almost see death waving at him. He clenched his fists tightly. Was he really fated to die here?
However, at this moment, a shout came from the crowd!
“What… It’s you!”
Liu Yuan followed the voice and turned his head around.
At this critical moment, the mysterious person with the hat and veil suddenly stood up. She lifted the white veil and shouted excitedly.
In an instant, the others saw her stunning face under the white veil. Liu Yuan noticed a shining pink bar on top of her head!
A progress bar?
Liu Yuan was stunned for a moment. Then wild joy surged into his heart, and he couldn’t help but scream in his heart —
God bless me!
He then opened the illustrated handbook.
The next second, the transparent panel opened up in front of his eyes, and he saw that a second character card was lit up after Gu Siyin !
