Business
The cat café had managed to get through the first two days of its opening and various activities had been completed. The traffic had been reduced a lot, but had stabilised and saw repeat customers regularly.
For any store, it was impractical to maintain the same level of traffic as when it opened. How the shop survived still depended on the day-to-day running, and the various festive events could only be described as the icing on the cake to make an extra profit.
At 10:46 am, all parts of the cat cafe were ready for customers. The shop assistants ran around closing the doors and windows of the cat cafe and turning on the air conditioning.
Pei Shiyi, on the other hand, took out the dried introduction board and clipped it in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, the fresh colour scheme instantly becoming a high-value signboard.
Soothing, soft music played in the shop. This music was a great way for the cats to come down and warm up for work.
Fondant ran down the stairs, turned her head and called towards upstairs. Within two seconds, another big snowy white ball of fur slowly walked down the stairs. Fondant rushed back and went into the fur and rubbed it for a long time.
Yun Chao stayed still and let her spill the pampering she had been holding all night. Fondant’s energy now was completely different from when she first came to the cat cafe, much more lively. Although Fondant had not yet learnt how to cultivate on her own. The whole shop was shrouded in the boss’s aura, not to mention keen demons like them, even sluggish humans would be affected by the boss’s aura, so she was also getting more and more active, reverting to her ragdoll dog characteristics.
Practising here, even before the boss had started to teach anything formally, was already benefiting them because of such an aura. You could tell how well they had been nourished by looking at Fondant’s energy, you wouldn’t believe she was timid before.
Yun Chao woke up in a good mood every day, and when Fondant’s stickiness had worn off, Yun Chao licked Fondant’s ears and accompanied her before taking a step downstairs.
The shop assistants came and go, checking the hygiene and various decorations several times before opening.
Zhou Yan, a new part-time recruit at the cat cafe, was wiping the tables when he heard a scratching noise and couldn’t help but follow the sound to find it.
Not as sleepy as the other cats, Copper Coin came down early in the morning and was sharpening his claws on the scratching board, wagging his head and tail extra hard, with a practiced scratch and scratch sound.
His life was now much more comfortable than before, although he was not paid for the time being, he was happy. The boss was easy to talk to, he also played with the cats and groomed them comfortably, where else could he get this kind of treatment? All he wanted now was for the cat café to get better and better, and for it to become a big hit and never close down. He worked out hard every day to keep himself in shape and was the most active cat in the whole cat café apart from Egg Yolk, even his Fondant was not as active as him.
Now was the time for his morning exercise.
Zhou Yan listened with great interest and took out his mobile phone to record for a while.
Pei Shiyi put a little tag on Egg Yolk that said “Store Manager is here”. Egg Yolk stretched out on the bar with his paws out and jumped off the bar, ready to take a tour of the shop as a cat manager.
Pei Shiyi heard the sound and walked up behind Zhou Yan. “What are you laughing at?”
Although not yet at work, the boss saw him teasing the cat… Zhou Yan’s face blushed and he hurried to stand up. “I just think Copper Coin was particularly rhythmic in this section. Paired with bad guy, it will be very catchy.”
Zhou Yan, as an internet-addicted youth, always spoke to his peers interspersed with various internet lingo. Unfortunately, although Pei Shiyi was wearing the skin of a young man who had just graduated from university, on the inside, he was a living relic who had lived for an unknown number of years.
Pei Shiyi half-understood. Zhou Yan’s age was equivalent to the young nephew of a relative’s family in 18 suits, he could neither laugh nor cry and
said, “Okay.”
Zhou Yan scratched his head, remembering that his boss was actually an old cadre and he hurriedly explained, “That is to say, I recorded this part of Copper Coin with a background music, it’s especially …er…”
Once he didn’t use internet vocabulary, Zhou Yan couldn’t find a suitable adjective.
“Is it in sync?”
Pei Shiyi caught Coppe Coin that popped up and casually said, “Why don’t you make one when you’re free and you can show it to Copper Coin when it’s done. If Copper Coin approves it, we can put it on after work.”
Zhou Yan almost laughed, thinking to himself that although the boss didn’t go online much, he was actually still very open-minded and young at heart.
He gave an arch of his hand to Copper Coin. “I’ll ask Mr Copper to review it in a couple of days.”
They were playing around, but things still had to be done. Zhou Yan ran to check the facilities in the shop and suddenly said, “Wait boss, are we missing a carpet here?”
Pei Shiyi, “…”
Did this Bao Jin wash the carpet yesterday or not?
“That piece was dirty, there’s a spare in the storage room, take it out.”
Pei Shiyi turned away silently with the cat in his arms.
When I think of the rug I think of grabbing the paintbrush and when I think of grabbing the paintbrush I recall touching hands…
Pei Shiyi was very upset, and what was even worse was that he turned around to see Bao Jin delivering Sponge Cake to work.
Sponge Cake stretched out his furry paws in front of Pei Shiyi. “Meow.” Good morning, sir.
To Sponge Cake, Pei Shiyi was more like a teacher than a boss.
Pei Shiyi bent down to take hold of Sponge Cake’s front paws and smiled, “Good morning Sponge Cake.”
He and Sponge Cake whispered for a while. It felt like Bo Jin’s eyes were on him the whole time, unlike in the past, where he entered the door and went to another cat.
Pei Shiyi let Egg Yolk take Sponge Cake for his morning snack and asked in a low voice, “Where’s my rug?”
Bao Jin, who had been working hard all night, rubbed his brow. “I’ve washed it, I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”
He didn’t expect the acrylic paint to be so difficult to clean. It took two hours to soak such a small stain in laundry detergent and vinegar, and it still smelt sour afterwards. If he dared to bring it here, Pei Shiyi could have poured vinegar on him.
Pei Shiyi smiled. “That’s the best.”
Once it was time to open, Pei Shiyi had no time to argue with Bao Jin about a rug.
But there was a very special guest today. Pei Shiyi felt a faint aura in the kitchen, but he was preparing lunch for the fluffs and felt that the other party was not moving for the moment, so he pretended not to know.
The plushes wouldn’t approve if they dared to spill their guts here anyways, not to mention the fact that the shop is still under his restrictions. Anyone not approved by him who dared to use their spiritual power at will would absolutely be burnt to ashes on the spot.
Pei Shiyi continued to tear his chicken breast, but Bao Jin, who was pouring the cat food, turned around and went out.
Inside the shop, Xu Tuzhi ordered the entire menu in a formal manner, but stood at the bar instead of taking a seat, looking around as if he was looking for someone.
The clerk collecting the bill thought this customer was very strange. He came up and ordered everything on the menu and didn’t sit down, instead, he looked around and if it wasn’t for the fact that he was pale and didn’t seem like the type to fight back, the clerk almost thought he was here to pick a fight.
The clerk asked, “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Xu Tuzhi hurriedly said, “No, no.”
He left the bar tripping over his left foot and sat down at the low table, his legs shaking as he sat down.
The shop was surprisingly crowded and almost everyone had ordered a drink.
After Xu Tu Zhi looked around, he had just withdrawn his gaze when he was startled by the large orange cat approaching.
Egg Yolk saw the new face and was ready to greet them as usual, but after a few steps, he felt something was wrong and hesitantly looked up at the new face-
This man seemed to have a little aura.
Even Yun Chao slowly walked over, her pupils staring intently at Xu Tuzhi.
Egg Yolk was even more nervous. Yun Chao’s cultivation level was much higher than his and even Yun Chao had to pay attention to the demon… it must be strong! He even wanted to turn around and go to the boss.
Xu Tuzhi didn’t hold it in and let out a sob, his eyes red and on the verge of tears.
Egg yolk, “??” This is bad! How did we make our guest cry? He hurriedly jumped onto the low table and rubbed against Xu Tuzhi.
Xu Tuzhi’s whole body stiffened and he hiccuped a cry of fright.
Yun Chao, “…”
She looked at the crybaby and decided that instead of worrying about the other party making a scene, she should worry about the other party watering down the cat cafe. Yun Chao waved her tail, slightly bored, and slowly walked towards the small circle of girls.
Bao Jin came out at exactly the right time.
When Xu Tuzhi saw him, he almost jumped up.
Egg Yolk was taken aback by him and jumped up in sync, scanning Xu Tuzhi very suspiciously: this person is probably a rabbit.
Bao Jin smoothed Egg Yolk’s hair, signalling that he was going to sort it out.
Egg Yolk tilted his head and rubbed it against his hand, tailing off to entertain the other guests.
Bo Jin sat across from Xu Tuzhi and with a glance he identified the other person’s prototype. “A ghost liar1.”
A ghost liar, having the outer appearance of a rabbit with a human face and speaking human language, were often beautiful men or women with pretty faces when they take on their forms. However, they were cunning by nature and good at making up lies
Although Bao Jin’s aura was extremely well-contained, Xu Tuzhi just had to think of the other party’s prototype and straight away burst into tears. “M-m-m, my name is Xu Tu Zhi, I-I-I.. I c-c-came to…”
Bao Jin’s face was mostly misanthropic and sullen. He seemed to be in a very melancholy mood, which happened to be the type of person Xu Tuzhi feared the most. He was afraid that if he said something wrong, he would be picked up and skinned into a plate of cold rabbit.
“How could you scare someone till they look like this?”
Xu Tuzhi raised his teary eyes and saw an extraordinarily pleasant young man smiling slightly at him. “Please come upstairs with us if you need to talk.”
Xu Tuzhi nodded as if he had seen a living saviour.
Pei Shiyi took him upstairs. The layout of the second floor remained unchanged, the main bedroom was the plush lounge, the side bedroom was Pei Shiyi’s bedroom, and the original living room was set up as a toy room.
Xu Tuzhi carefully sat down and said, “M-my name is Xu Tuzhi, I am a ghost liar. I came over today… because…”
Pei Shiyi struggled to listen, thinking that although the ghost liars were not considered capable of fighting, as a big clan among the monsters, how did they raise such a timid younger generation?
Xu Tuzhi did not dare to mention Bao Jin but only turned his eyes, and glanced at Bao Jin.
Pei Shiyi turned back. “Him?”
Xu Tuzhi hurriedly said, “No, no, no not looking for the director, I-I came here to find you… We heard that you and the director are very close, so, so…”
He lowered his head in shame.
Pei Shiyi and Bao Jin looked at each other, unable to understand how the words “very close” could have come out.
Xu Tu Zhi drew out a piece of paper and wiped his eyes roughly, “So we guessed that you’re not human either. We want to do business with you…”
Pei Shiyi was slightly stunned, “You sell young cats?”
Xu Tuzhi hastily shook his head. “We dare not do anything related to trafficking the demon population! We farm!”
Pei Shiyi, “…”
Xu Tu Zhi suddenly summoned up the courage to say a long sentence in one breath. “We sell high-quality milk, high-quality tea as well as good quality chicken, shrimp, fish and pork and fruits with excellent taste that has more aura and are tastier than those by humans.”
t was as if he had grown a few extra guts so violently that his voice got louder. “Director, we’re all licensed! I’ve also brought samples and documents, do you want to check them?”
Bao Jin, “…”
Pei Shiyi listened, his heart slightly moved: These things were indeed needed for the catering aspect of the cat cafe, and as for the meat… those containing aura were the best food for the cats.
