After an intense and passionate encounter, Su Ge was drenched in sweat.
Gu Beixian didn’t go to take a shower as he usually did; instead, he hugged her from behind, holding her tightly and forcefully, as if he wanted to press her into his body.
Su Ge felt almost melting in his embrace, her heart inexplicably filled with surprise, tension, excitement, and a touch of sorrow.
They had been married for three years, and this was the first time he had hugged her like this.
She felt deeply loved.
Her heart pounded like a deer running wild, and she slowly turned around, hugging him tightly with a sweet and beautiful smile, as if she had embraced the whole world.
They held each other for a long time.
Gu Beixian then released her, got dressed, and sat up. He took out a pack of cigarettes from the drawer, skillfully shook one out, lit it, and took a deep puff.
White smoke swirled around, blurring the contours of his handsome and dashing face, making it hard to read his expression. He didn’t even notice that the cigarette was almost burning his fingers.
Su Ge coughed lightly, “Didn’t you quit smoking a long time ago?”
Gu Beixian stubbed out the cigarette, his gaze deep as he stared into her eyes. After a few seconds of silence, he said, “Su Ge, let’s break up.”
It was like a bolt of lightning on a clear day!
Su Ge was stunned, her burning heart instantly turning to ice!
Her face turned pale as she looked at him in a daze, her voice trembling slightly, “What did I do wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“Then why do we have to break up?”
“Chu Suo has come back. I’m sorry.”
Chu Suo was his ex-girlfriend.
Su Ge’s heart felt like it was being cut with a knife. After three years, three whole years of living together and supporting each other, she couldn’t compete with the return of that woman!
He didn’t love her, and that was her biggest mistake!
Disappointment, defeat, and sorrow overwhelmed her, and she bit her lip, her body stiff.
She shakily put on her clothes and was about to get out of bed.
Gu Beixian held her shoulder and asked gently, “Where are you going?”
Su Ge tried hard to hold back her tears, “To make breakfast.”
“Usually you make it. Let me do it today. You can sleep a bit more.” His voice was low and gentle.
Su Ge nodded and lay down, pulling the blanket over her wet eyes.
After he left, she got out of bed, ran into the bathroom, and couldn’t hold back her tears anymore, crying uncontrollably.
Her tears fell like beads from a broken string, unable to stop.
She had never known that loving someone could hurt so much, a pain as if a piece of her heart had been torn away.
She was in so much pain that she could barely stand, leaning against the wall, crying until she trembled.
After a while, Gu Beixian called her from downstairs to have breakfast.
Su Ge responded, splashed cold water on her face, and washed her eyes repeatedly.
But no matter how many times she washed, her eyes were still red, as if they were bloodshot.
She went downstairs, and Gu Beixian was waiting for her in the dining room.
Dressed in a well-tailored suit, with long, straight legs in dark trousers, he exuded a refined and elegant aura, shining brightly just by standing there.
Su Ge silently walked to the table and sat down.
Gu Beixian leaned slightly, looking at her red eyes with an especially gentle gaze, “Did you cry?”
Su Ge lifted her face and forced a smile, “I accidentally got some face wash in my eyes while washing my face. It will be better soon.”
“Be more careful next time. Let’s eat.” Gu Beixian sat down next to her, picked up the chopsticks, and handed them to her.
Su Ge took them, lowering her eyes, and looked at his beautiful fingers holding the chopsticks.
The rich breakfast emitted an inviting aroma, but neither of them touched their food.
Never before had a meal been so sad.
After half an hour, the food was still untouched.
Su Ge put down her chopsticks, held the edge of the table, and stood up, saying softly, “I’ll go pack my things.”
Gu Beixian’s hand tightened slightly on the chopsticks, “No rush.”
Su Ge smiled bitterly. It was already like this; why not leave quickly? Was she waiting to be kicked out?
She turned and went upstairs, throwing her things into the suitcase one by one. After packing for a while, she finally zipped it up and carried it downstairs.
Gu Beixian came forward, reaching out to take the suitcase, “Let me take it.”
“No need.” Su Ge pulled the suitcase, straightened her back, and walked out.
Crossing the courtyard, looking at the familiar flowers and trees, she couldn’t help but feel sad. People are not plants; who can be without feelings?
Three years, what they called growing affection, turned out to be just her thing.
She loved him so much, with all her heart, with passion and affection. What was the point?
Let go, let go.
The two walked to the front door, where the car was waiting.
Gu Beixian handed her a check, “Thank you for your company these past three years.”
Su Ge stood stubbornly, unsure whether to take it.
Gu Beixian forcefully put the check into her suitcase, “Take it. You’ll need money in the future.”
“Okay.”
Su Ge dryly responded, lifted her head, and greedily looked at his beautiful lips, high nose, and handsome eyes.
Recalling the moments in bed when he covered her eyes with his, making the whole sky full of stars, her heart felt like it was being cut, a pain she couldn’t express.
She thought, there must be a day in her life when she could finally stop loving him.
Three years? Ten years?
Maybe a lifetime.
Falling in love seems easy, but forgetting someone is very, very hard.
Gu Beixian looked at her for a while, then suddenly pulled her into his arms. His face was calm, but his eyes were filled with turmoil, “In the future, it won’t be easy for you. Call me if you have any problems.”
Tears welled up, but she swallowed them. Su Ge said, “Okay.”
“I was in poor health the past two years and had a bad temper, making you suffer. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.”
“Take care of yourself.”
“You too.” Su Ge slowly raised her hand and hugged him, as if it were a farewell.
Suddenly, she let go of him.
She pushed him away, quickly wiped her face, and pulled the suitcase, turning to leave.
After a few steps, she suddenly heard Gu Beixian ask, “Who is Ah Yao?”
Her heart trembled slightly, and her raised foot slowly lowered.
Buried memories came flooding back.
She was so sad she couldn’t speak.
She heard Gu Beixian say again, “He must be very important to you. I’m sorry for taking up your time for three years. I wish you happiness.”
