Like a dream, Sukui stood there with cold limbs, her mind blank.
Seeing Sukui, Gu Beixian sobered up a bit, forcefully pushed Chu Suosuo away, and stood up holding the sofa.
Chu Suosuo turned her head to look behind her and feigned surprise, shouting, "Sister Sukui, you're here?"
Only then did Sukui, as if being pulled out of a dream, feel her heart pounding.
She turned and walked away, forgetting to close the door.
Sometimes, when things are too big and too unexpected, people can't react in time.
She didn't cry, nor did she make a fuss; she just felt her steps faltering and the scenery blurring.
The chilly spring wind blew on her face, as cold as ice.
The cold wind gradually woke Sukui up, and the more she thought, the angrier she became.
Did Gu Beixian call her over just to see him being intimate with Chu Suosuo?
On the day he proposed the breakup, she had readily agreed. Why did he still humiliate her in this way?
Just because he didn't love her, could he hurt her so casually?
Anger surged through every pore.
Sukui walked straighter and straighter, finally walking with a determined gait.
She left the villa gate.
The driver waited at the door, opened the car door, and said, "Madam, Mr. Gu asked me to take you back."
Sukui remained silent for a long time before bending down to get in.
The driver closed the car door and called Gu Beixian, saying, "Mr. Gu, I've found Madam. I'll take her back right away, don't worry."
"Okay."
Gu Beixian put down his phone and looked at Chu Suosuo with a slightly cold gaze, "You did that on purpose just now, didn't you?"
Chu Suosuo lowered her eyebrows and said in a pitiful tone, "I didn't know Sister Sukui would come so coincidentally. I slipped and fell onto you just now..."
"I'm drunk, not stupid!"
Chu Suosuo pouted, and tears streamed down her face, "It's my fault. I'll call Sister Sukui to explain."
She reached into her pocket to find her phone.
Gu Beixian raised his hand to stop her, his tone a bit impatient, "No need. The more you explain, the worse it gets. Go back first."
"Then you..."
"Just drunk, won't die." Gu Beixian bent down and heavily sat on the sofa, raising his hand to pinch his eyebrows.
He looked as if he couldn't bear the annoyance.
Chu Suosuo didn't move, standing there with her head down, looking like a wronged young wife.
Her shoulders trembled as she suppressed her sobs.
Seeing her like this, Gu Beixian felt a bit sorry for her and said, "I'm not blaming you. Sukui didn't do anything wrong, and I shouldn't have hurt her this way."
"But proposing a divorce to her is already hurting her." Chu Suosuo added softly, "And it hurts me too."
"The divorce can't be finalized for now; Grandma doesn't agree." Gu Beixian raised his eyes and glanced at her indifferently, "I'm not divorcing her just for you; mentioning you is just a pretext."
It was like a blow to the head, and Chu Suosuo was stunned.
Her face turned pale, and her lips trembled as she asked, "Brother Beixian, are you saying this in anger, or is it the truth after drinking?"
Gu Beixian raised his hand to his forehead, somewhat irritably, "I drank too much. My words might hurt you. Go quickly."
Afraid he would say something even more cruel and that things would become irreparable, Chu Suosuo left with tears in her eyes, unwillingly.
After she left, Gu Beixian called her father, asking him to keep an eye on his daughter and prevent her from attempting suicide again.
The next noon.
Gubaozhai.
Sukui received a bank card sent by Gu Beixian's people.
The person who delivered the card said, "Madam, this is a little compensation from Mr. Gu. The password is your birthday."
Sukui looked at the card and smiled bitterly.
Money is a good thing, but sometimes, giving money is a form of disguised humiliation.
She pushed the card back and said, "Tell him I don't lack money."
"Mr. Gu asks you to please accept it. He has a message for you: what you see isn't always the truth. Whatever decision you make, he agrees."
"I understand."
After the person left, she sat silently for a while, then got up to pack her things and went to a nearby restaurant for lunch.
As soon as she stepped out, she met Chu Suosuo, who looked pitiful in a white dress.
Chu Suosuo held a bouquet of white roses and said softly, "Sister Sukui, can we talk?"
Sukui controlled her emotions, looked at her coldly for a few seconds, and said, "Sure."
The two went to a nearby Western restaurant.
After sitting down, Chu Suosuo placed the flowers on the table.
Gently caressing the velvety rose petals, she said with a happy face, "I didn't expect Brother Beixian to be so romantic. Early in the morning, he sent me flowers. After three years, he still remembers that I love white roses. Twenty roses, representing eternal love."
Sukui felt a mix of emotions.
They had been married for three years, and on every holiday, Gu Beixian only sent her a card, never a flower, not even one.
It turned out he wasn't unromantic; he just didn't want to be romantic with her.
Twenty roses, eternal love, their love would never change, how "touching."
The waiter brought the coffee.
Chu Suosuo picked up the spoon and slowly stirred the coffee, saying in a delicate voice, "Brother Beixian and I grew up together. He has always been kind to me..."
Sukui took a sip of coffee and said calmly, "Miss Chu, can you get to the point? I'm busy and don't have time to listen to your nonsense."
Chu Suosuo shrugged, "I see, Sister Sukui isn't without a temper; you just don't show it to Brother Beixian. You're quite good at pretending."
Sukui sneered, "I'm still Gu Beixian's wife. You broke into my house and kissed my husband. I didn't throw coffee in your face because I have good manners. Miss Chu, don't take advantage of my politeness."
"Wow." Chu Suosuo stuck out her tongue in a surprised expression, "Sister Sukui, you look like a tigress."
Sukui's hand holding the coffee cup trembled slightly; she really wanted to throw it in her face.
Chu Suosuo waited for a while but didn't get the coffee thrown at her, feeling a bit disappointed.
She had set a trap, but Sukui didn't fall for it, so she had to use the next move.
She stared at Sukui's face and said, "Sister Sukui, you're a smart person. Seeing me, you should be able to guess that you are just a stand-in for Brother Beixian. Now that the real one is here, shouldn't you leave?"
"The real one?" Sukui wanted to laugh, "Miss Chu, are you uneducated or ignorant of the law? Gu Beixian and I are legally married and protected by the law. I am the real one."
Chu Suosuo clicked her tongue, mocking, "You're almost divorced. Why are you still so arrogant?"
Sukui straightened her back, "As long as we're not divorced, you can't be arrogant."
Chu Suosuo huffed and used her trump card, "Three years ago, you married Brother Beixian for ten million. I'll give you double."
She took a check from her wallet and slapped it on the table, "This is twenty million. Please take the money and leave him immediately!"
Sukui glanced at the check and said, "I didn't marry Gu Beixian just for the money."
Chu Suosuo laughed, "You want it both ways, how fake you are."
Sukui pursed her lips and looked at her coldly, really wanting to slap her.
Chu Suosuo said disdainfully, "Three years ago, your grandmother had kidney failure and needed a transplant. To treat her, your family even sold your house and became penniless. How long have you been with Brother Beixian? Have you forgotten your roots? You're just a poor girl from a remote village. No matter how high you climb, you can't change your poor and shabby appearance!"
She pushed the check forward, raised her chin proudly, and said in a condescending tone, "Take it, don't pretend to be high and mighty!"
Sukui was surprisingly calm.
She glanced at the stamp on the check and said coolly, "Did you get the check from your father? Did you have to argue a lot to get the money? Does your whole family support you being a mistress? What a bizarre family. How rich your family is doesn't matter; it can't hide your ugly hearts."
Chu Suosuo's face turned red and then white, "You're lying!"
Sukui stood up, looking down at her, "I restore ancient paintings and calligraphy. If I want to make money, it's not hard. Three years ago, if I hadn't married Gu Beixian, I could have earned ten million with my own hands."
She grabbed the check and threw it at Chu Suosuo's face, "Take your money and go somewhere cool. Don't come out and disgust people!"
The check hit her face, and Chu Suosuo was furious!
She lunged at Sukui, reaching out to grab her face!
Just as she did, a figure darted out from the side, grabbed Chu Suosuo, and gave her a good beating!
