In the Clouds (1)

Zhang Li was in it when Jiang City was trapped, and at that time he was just a foundation building disciple.

That was the nightmare of his life.

Outside the city is a thick blood mist, and the sky full of blood fills the air.

A terrible howl rang from the mist, coming and going.

Everyone stood on the high wall, looking out of the city hopelessly.

After sending a few blazing feathers to no avail, the city lord organized all the monks above qi training to break through the mist.

Zhang Li knew that this was going to be bad, so he secretly used the magic weapon gifted by the master to cover up his cultivation and mixed with ordinary people.

It just so happened that he came to Jiang City alone at that time, and no one was here, so no one knew what he was doing.

The city lord brought fifteen golden core monks and dozens of foundation building monks who flew into the blood mist together.

Some of them have wives and daughters, some have just begun to build a foundation at a young age, and some of their parents still need support when they are old… but none of them flinches.

The wife of the city lord stood with her young girl on the high wall, dressed in plain clothes and white flowers on her head.

The city lord of Jiang City is not in his prime, with a purple robe and black hair, holding a sword in the air, and looking at his wife far away.

The two hadn’t spoken yet, but people couldn’t help sobbing.

The people all over the city gave off to each other in white clothes, and the hundreds of monks never returned.

Knowing that it cannot be done.

Although there are tens of thousands of people, I myself will go.

Zhang Li suddenly understood how lonely and courageous these two teachings of the Shengren were. But as a disciple of Shengren Zhuang, he didn’t dare to take this step, he didn’t dare to die together with this group of people.

He is ashamed for the Saints.

After a few more days, the blood mist approached more and more, the reinforcements could not arrive for a long time, and the city lord waited for a long time.

All the people gave up hope and looked at the blood-red sky blankly. Suddenly, a line of people rushed through the blood mist and came with swords.

It was a group of Gushan disciples, extremely young. The woman who took the lead had a tsing yi and a green feather cloak, with long blue feathers tied around her waist, moving with the wind.

He recognizes this person.

Gushan rookie, the first in the Sword Test. At a young age, she took the post of the peak master of the hundred generations.

A legend in the world of cultivation.

Sword cultivator Huai Bai, wearing a cloak of green feathers, holding the sword In the Clouds.

After learning that the city lord and other monks were buried in the blood mist, Huai Bai glanced at Zhang Li as if accidentally.

The boy was flushed, his hands clenched into fists, and he dared not meet her eyes.

It was obviously just a very ordinary look, but Zhang Li could read a lot——contempt, sneer, indifference. This has become his nightmare for three hundred years, and it has also caused him to be unable to break through to the nascent soul for a long time.

When he was about to break through countless times, his eyes would always flash to Huai Bai’s eyes that seemed to be smiling but not smiling, and then the demons suddenly came to a halt.

For the past three hundred years, Zhang Li has been deliberately avoiding meeting with Huai Bai, but he did not expect to hear her voice again in the small town inn today.

Huai Bai smiled and walked into the inn, patted the rain on her body, “Hey, the rain, it’s really heavy.”

As soon as she looked up, she saw all the people in the inn looking at her, and blinked, “What are you guys watching me for?”

As she walked to the wooden ladder, she opened her hands as she walked, “Apprentice, I have not seen you in three autumns, let the master hug you.”

Pei Yu’s heart tightened slightly, she stepped back and avoided her embrace, and after saluting respectfully, she asked, “Why did the master go and return?”

Huai Bai lost her hand and withdrew it, “I’m worried about you. You see, after just a while, you will be bullied.”

She tilted her head and glanced over Zhao Hengyu, Tianxin, and Ji Yue one by one, and said with a smile but not a smile: “You juniors, you are really blue and young, not bad, really not bad.”

Obviously she was amiable, smiling like a warm spring breeze, but these people felt a chill at the same time, and even Tianxin silently moved a step back.

When seeing Zhang Li, Huaibo said in surprise: “So it’s you.”

Zhuangzi Saints’ elder, the protagonist’s first thigh.

Zhang Li had misunderstood what she meant, thinking that she still remembered Jiang City’s affairs, thinking that she was still laughing at himself like that.

He gritted his teeth, his eyes were red, afraid that she would tell the story of the year, so he preemptively said: “Don’t you want to explain to us, Peak Master Huai Bai?”

Huai Bai was stunned, “Huh?”

Pei Yu stood in front of her, raised her chin slightly, and looked at Zhang Li, “What explanation does my master want to give you?”

This posture of protecting Huai Bai was out of instinct.

Just like her previous life.

Pei Yu squeezed her palms hard, and a faint red glow flashed across her pupils. Her small body was no more than Huai Bai’s waist, but she still stubbornly stood in front of the woman, her back was loose, and she had a powerful and unrelenting aura.

Zhang Li pointed to the magic disk, “What do you explain?”

“It’s just a dead thing,” Pei Yu didn’t even look at the magic disk, and only repeated Ji Yue’s words, “Can you not see that I am just an ordinary person who has not entered the immortal gate?” She opened her mouth and continued: “If I can really hide my cultivation base from you, and it is the demon in your mouth, can you still stand here and talk to me now?”

“My apprentice is right!” Huai Bai smiled and bent her eyes, and while the child was facing away, she hugged her by the waist and hugged her in her arms. “Just stand behind the adults obediently.”

The child is in her arms gently, and her bones can be felt through her clothes, like a thin kitten.

Huai Bai smiled more and more, and looked at everyone with a smile, “Okay, now I’ll ask you for an explanation.”

Zhang Li didn’t dare to speak anymore.

Zhao Hengyu took a deep breath, stepped forward and bowed, and replied: “Peak Master, I am Zhao Hengyu under the gate of Xian City’s Ming Ghost Hall. After learning about the blood mist, I drew a symbol to notify the teacher, and then I wanted to use the magic disk to find where the blood mist is based on induction, but for some reason, the compass needle actually points to the apprentice.”

“Seeking magic disk?” Huai Bai sneered, “a dead thing.”

Zhao Hengyu has always been proud of this disk, and immediately said after hearing this: “The predecessors are not good. The magic disk can track based on the original demon energy, but the demon energy can always be faked, and the place where the great demon passes, even if it has passed years, will still have a lot of demon energy, so it cannot be used as a real-time tracking device.”

He paused, and said proudly: “But after my improvement, the direction of the pointer is no longer based on the demon energy, but based on the demon blood. The power of the bloodline, no one can fake it.”

“Therefore,” Zhao Hengyu glanced at Huai Bai who was silent, and said: “Therefore, the pointer points to the apprentice, it must be because of the demon blood flowing in her body. This is also the reason we suspected her earlier.”

Huai Bai’s eyebrows are like a moon, and her lips are like willows. After smiling, she gently uttered five words, “You have so many tricks.”

Did she not write the magic disk, demon qi, and demon blood at all? Why do these passerbys who don’t deserve to have a name add to their own crazy scenes! Even if it is demon blood, it should be the protagonist’s body. Why did he bully her innocent apprentice?

Huai Bai hugged the child and smiled: “I think you made a mistake.”

Everyone looked at her puzzled.

“It doesn’t matter whether she is a demon or not, she is my apprentice, and that’s important.”

The woman smiled and walked out the door step by step. Zhang Li stretched out his hand, but after all he dared not stop.

Huai Bai laughed in her heart.

Hey, just run away after packing it, it’s exciting!

Translator here! It’s my birthday today (/≧ω\)

As a special, I’ll just jot down my thoughts on the story thus far.

So we’re slowly moving through the story right now. This is probably the longest novel I’m translating with 195 chapters and only one of those is an extra. It’s very worth it though.

Right now we’re still gathering information about what the situation is with Huai Bai and what she did in the hundreds of years before Pei Yu was reborn. Spoiler alert but she did a lot of things over that period of time and learning about it was certainly a ride.

Honestly I was translating the titles of the chapters and some of them jolted my memory of reading those chapters. I got goosebumps thinking of some of them cause I legit cried quite a few times reading this story.

I’ll just warn you now, the entanglement between Pei Yu and Huai Bai is much more than it seems on the surface and when we get to reading about it, you’re definitely gonna cry. The romance will be a slow burn while the author cuts a bunch of onions all over the place to keep you super invested in seeing how things turn out.

This story is genuinely really good and I hope y’all stick with it to the end.
