Xu Wei felt that Yu Shizhou was getting more and more excessive, so she shouldn’t sleep with him. As a result, she was the one who harmed herself, waking up with a sore back and weak legs. Yu Shizhou even said that this was a result of too little exercise.
However, after they became intimate, Yu Shizhou changed quite a lot. He now took the initiative to pick her up from work every day, rain or shine. Everyone in the company was aware that Xu Wei had a handsome and loving husband who looked after her well-being very closely.
The new girls under her guidance were envious. Xu Wei secretly shook her head, the others were fascinated by Yu Shizhou and not clear about the real situation. She had just finished all her work when a staff member under her ran over in a flash. “Xu Wei, the great God is here to pick you up again.”
She leaned over the window to look at the car downstairs. Yu Shizhou drove a blue sports car today, and not only people from Xu Wei’s company were looking at it, there were also people stopping by.
He looked up, and saw someone looking out from behind the transparent window. Xu Wei should have known he was coming, but he made a call first. Yu Shizhou stared at his phone until it hung up.
His life right now wasn’t what he imagined before. Xu Wei wasn’t averse to his close proximity to her even though she wasn’t used to guys. There were hardly any boys around her during her university days. Everyone assumed she liked Wan Lijue, and she did give up her admittance to the best university of the country for him.
He kept his fondness for her in his heart, after all, he was still a poor boy at that time with nothing but excellent grades. The Xu and Wan families were all wealthy and famous. It took courage to even speak, so how could he dare to go and court her, wishing for her affection.
He always thought he would never have a chance to be with Xu Wei in this lifetime. Yu Shizhou would only dare to follow and watch silently in the shadows, but now, it was different. His situation was really good, and there was only joy in his heart when he thought of her.
Yu Shizhou gazed at the darkened phone screen, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. Then it rings, another call coming through. It was Su Jing. He pressed the answer button, and her voice came through the speaker, “Shizhou, where are you?”
Glancing at the entrance of the company, Xu Wei had not yet come down, so he asked with a clear voice, “What’s wrong?”
Su Jing’s voice was low, “Can you come and pick me up? I had a fight with Wan Lijue, and he left me on the road.”
This happened because Su Jing’s family wanted to ask Lijue’s family for some help, borrowing the Wan family’s power. Su Jing’s brother, Su Heng, wanted to work in a government department. If the Wan family would offer a few words for him, even just to say hello, it would definitely work out. But Su Heng’s education was lacking, so they asked him to start from the grassroots. Because of this, he felt the other party was looking down on him.
When Su Heng spoke to the Wan family, the Su elders thought that their daughter and son-in-law let them down and hadn’t done their best. As long as the explanation was clear, there was no need to quarrel.
Su Jing married into the Wan family, and in her heart, she felt inferior, and Wan Lijue’s mother didn’t like her either. Wan Lijue’s mother often praised Xu Wei, and was mostly dissatisfied with Su Jing. Because of her brother’s situation, Su Jing thought the old lady refused to help on purpose, and complained a bit to Wan Lijue.
Wan Lijue was tired from work, and he was a bit impatient, so his tone was harsh. Su Heng had no proper education nor ability, and they were asking for this government position through his family, but he was picky. Su Jing, a phoenix who married into a wealthy family, had no other skills but a big heart and simple mind.
The two of them fought, and it was Su Jing who threw open the car door and walked out of the car, and Wan Lijue left in anger. After a while, he came back to pick her up, but she drove him away again. Now, she called Yu Shizhou and said that Lijue left her behind.
When Xu Wei went into the car, she saw that he was still on the phone, so she didn’t make a noise and asked him voicelessly, forming the words with her mouth, “Who is it?”
Yu Shizhou found her so cute, and rubbed her face, watching her with his gentle eyes. Xu Wei pushed his hand away, disgusted that he had smudged her make-up.
“Let’s talk about it later,” he said on the phone and hung up. Then he texted Su Jing that he was busy right now, and to call Su Heng to pick her up. Su Jing was dumbfounded when she read the message from Yu Shizhou. The latter used to cater every time to whatever she wanted, and he never excused himself as long as she needed him.
She felt that her friend had changed, and sent many messages in quick succession. The beeping tone echoed in the car. Xu Wei took a few curious glances at Yu Shizhou’s pocket and laughed, “It’s not some avid suitor, is it? She’s chasing you so relentlessly?”
“No.” Yu Shizhou wanted to show his phone to Xu Wei, but he didn’t want her to know that Wan Lijue and Su Jing argued, so he didn’t do it. Xu Wei stared at his stoic face for a few seconds, and suddenly felt listless.
“What do you want to eat?” he asked as he drove.
Xu Wei thought about the compliments the girls in the office showered for Yu Shizhou. Their daily pleasure now was to look at handsome men and sports cars, although Yu Shizhou only parked outside for a while. There were a few men in the office, and every time Yu Shizhou passed by, a group of them would be shouting and teasing from their tables..
The scene was so cheerful, Xu Wei couldn’t help but smile as she recalled it. Yu Shizhou inclined his neck and looked at her, smiling. “What are you smiling about?”
“The girls in the office said you were so handsome and hot, they couldn’t keep their legs together. They encouraged me to invite you for dinner with us, so they could get a closer look at your handsome face. They also want to write a novel for you.” Xu Wei smiled, her eyebrows arching attractively and her pearly-white teeth were showing.
It happened to be a red light, so he leaned close to her face and whispered, “You’re the one I want unable to keep her legs close. The kind we do in bed…” His warm breath spread in her ear, and his tone was surprisingly naughty.
Xu Wei’s face immediately turned red, a smoky haze stained her porcelain skin. She didn’t dare to look at him and turned her head to look out the window. They were silent inside the car as their thoughts went to something unsuitable for children.
“It’s okay to write a novel about me, but can I choose the female lead?”
Xu Wei was on the verge of shrinking into the seat in shame when he coughed lightly to break the awkwardness.
She glanced at him sideways, her eyes shining, brows forming a playful arc, and her thick eyelashes upturned. “Who do you want?”
“You.”
If his world was a novel, then he could be sure that there would only be Xu Wei, the only female lead he wanted, and there would be no one else if he couldn’t have her. Xu Wei’s blush only faded a little, but it came back full force because of his words. No one could hold back themselves when talking to such an exquisite man who said such provocative words.
She changed the subject and said, “How was your class today? How long did it take you to walk from the school gate to the school building?”
Because there were always girls talking to him whenever he was on campus, he had to walk for an hour when others walked for ten minutes. He was also very popular on the school’s website.
The year he first became a professor, there were female students who enrolled in the university for his lessons, and there were many confessions every graduation season. Before, they mistook Su Jing as his girlfriend, and Yu Shizhou was the first to clarify that she wasn’t, so she won’t get mobbed and blocked.
Xu Wei rarely asked him about the school, and this was the first time she showed interest. This was a good development. What she didn’t know was after they got married, Yu Shizhou made their marriage public, and when someone confessed again, his first words were, “Sorry, I’m married.”
Xu Wei never appeared in his school, and Yu Shizhou only said this was an excuse. His students believed this to be so. He said to her, “There’s a physics seminar at our school tomorrow. I’m going to speak on stage, so come and see…”
He actually wanted Xu Wei to pay more attention to him, and delved into his life, but he didn’t have the courage before. But now, he couldn’t hold back.
The two of them had been married for almost a year and she hadn’t really paid much attention to his life. Although his tone was flat and he didn’t sound expectant, Xu Wei thought about it and said, “Okay.”
