Xing Su's eyebrows twitched, and a sudden heaviness weighed down his heart, as if a thousand-pound iron ingot had fallen into his chest. His throat tightened, and he couldn't speak a word.

After a while, a tear rolled down the corner of Xing Su's eye, and a faint sigh escaped his lips.

"Go and take a look; meeting is also a kind of fate." Xing Su took out a red feather, a gift from his young master who used to run around naked. He had snatched it from a rooster, and it was a precious feather from a Vermilion Bird, a descendant of the Vermilion Sparrow.

His eyes flickered as he recalled how the Vermilion Bird feather had stirred Dongmei's jade feet.

"Ah." Xing Su sighed, stood up, and took a step. It was as if he had crossed a vast distance in a single stride, his figure flashing to the edge of the ingredient area. This wasn't due to any supernatural ability, but because he was extremely familiar with the place.

In the West Courtyard, the pavilion where the master lived, Dongmei's boudoir, only Dongyue was there alone.

At this moment, the door opened silently, and a man walked in, bringing with him the bright sunlight.

Dongyue rubbed her eyes and looked over.

"Xing Su!" Dongyue exclaimed, both surprised and delighted.

"En." Xing Su nodded but didn't immediately enter. Instead, he looked around, examining Dongmei's room and comparing it to his memory.

"Where is Dongmei?" Xing Su walked over and asked casually.

Dongyue's expression darkened, and she said sadly, "Her soul was scattered..."

"Her soul was scattered..." Xing Su's face immediately turned grim, a glint of killing intent flashing in his eyes.

"Do you know what happened?" Xing Su asked.

"Big Sister was fine, but after just one day, she... she... sniffle..." Dongyue began to sob, tears streaming down her face. "Those ungrateful people all forgot how good Big Sister was. They were respectful to her every day, but once she was gone, they all vied for her position."

"Didn't you notice anything unusual? In the days before Dongmei died," Xing Su mused, continuing his questioning.

He kept moving around in Dongmei's boudoir, searching for any clues.

"Unusual...?" Dongyue thought for a long time, then shook her head. "I didn't notice anything. Big Sister always had a cold face, and I couldn't tell if anything was wrong."

"Always had a cold face, huh?" Xing Su seemed to notice something. He suddenly bent down and found a strand of hair in the floor crack. Then he looked up, and there was a faint mark on the beam above.

"Suicide by hanging? That's impossible." Xing Su muttered, turning to look at the sobbing Dongyue. "Do you know where Dongmei disappeared? Was it in this room?"

Dongyue shook her head. "I don't know. Big Sister was beaten to death by a ghost, leaving no trace at all."

"This is troublesome!" Xing Su's brows furrowed. With no time or place of death and no clues, there was nothing to go on. Even asking Dongyue was fruitless.

"Xing Su, can you find the murderer who killed Big Sister?" Dongyue looked up, tears in her eyes, and asked pitifully.

"I'll do my best." Xing Su nodded and walked to the desk, where a large brush and paper were laid out.

"The writing isn't finished?" Xing Su murmured.

The large sheet of paper had a brush pen beside it, the ink wetting one corner and staining the elegant writing. Only a faint outline of a poem could be seen.

"From afar, it doesn't look like snow, for there is a faint fragrance coming." Xing Su read aloud.

"Any clues?" Dongyue asked.

"Nothing much." Xing Su glanced at Dongyue and shook his head.

He picked up the brush and placed it back on the stand.

"Huh?"

Xing Su's eyes flickered, and his pupils narrowed.

"Did you find something?" Dongyue immediately ran over, asking anxiously.

"Nothing much, just a strand of hair." Xing Su pinched a strand of hair from the stand and placed it in Dongyue's palm. He then moved around her, continuing to search the boudoir.

"Big Sister's hair..." Dongyue, seeing the hair, tears still on her face, began to cry again. "If I knew who killed Big Sister, I would take revenge."

"Revenge?" Xing Su suddenly turned, smiled slightly, and said, "Anyone who could scatter Dongmei's soul isn't someone you can take revenge on with your limited skills."

"I..." Dongyue was speechless, tears streaming down her face. "Sniffle, Big Sister, I, Dongyue, am useless!"

"Don't blame yourself. Even I'm not confident I can catch the murderer." Xing Su walked over, pulled Dongyue into his arms, and comforted her softly. "Dongyue, do you know of any way to scatter a ghost's soul without using strength?"

"Without using strength?" Dongyue's body stiffened, then she shook her head. "How could someone like me, a lowly ghost servant, know such a thing?"

"Is that so?" Xing Su's eyes showed a thoughtful look. He had suspected Dongyue of being the murderer, but quickly dismissed it. There was no reasonable motive, and he didn't know the method used.

"I'll be going now. If you have any new clues, let me know immediately." Xing Su said, turning to leave.

"I will. Xing Su, we are just lowly ghost servants. Even if we die, the City God's Office won't pay much attention. I can only rely on you now." Dongyue said helplessly, looking pitiful and wanting to rely on Xing Su.

"Don't worry, I'll do my best." Xing Su nodded and disappeared around the corner.

"Stop!"

Suddenly, a young, innocent voice called out to Xing Su.

Xing Su stopped and turned to see a short-haired little girl. His face showed surprise, as he recognized her. They had met before, and even fought.

"Li Wenji?" Xing Su said.

"Bold, to dare call my name!" Li Wenji scolded, standing up straight, a hint of authority in her small frame.

"Do you need something?" Xing Su asked, shrugging. To him, a kid was just a kid, regardless of status.

"Are you the one who killed Dongmei?" Li Wenji asked, her bright eyes wide and fists clenched, her hair almost floating in the wind.

"No." Xing Su said honestly.

"I don't believe you. You bullied Dongmei and hit her butt!" Li Wenji said angrily, her hair floating, ready to attack.

"It really wasn't me!" Xing Su said calmly, spreading his hands. "If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."

"I want you to find the real murderer, or I'll make you pay with your life for Dongmei!" Li Wenji said, clenching her teeth.

"No problem." Xing Su agreed, suddenly walking towards Li Wenji.

"Bad guy, stop! What are you doing!" Li Wenji stepped back, scolding, the jade pendant on her chest floating and glowing, ready to fly out.

"If Dongmei's spirit knew her little master was so concerned about her, she would be very happy." Xing Su placed his large hand on Li Wenji's head, gently rubbing it, and said softly.

"Hmm... Really?" Li Wenji's bright eyes closed in comfort, asking Xing Su, while the jade pendant on her chest returned to normal.

"Yes. And I already know who the murderer is; I just need them to slip up." Xing Su smiled confidently.

"Really? Who is the murderer!" Li Wenji's eyes widened, asking immediately.

"Shh, don't alert them. I'll make the murderer slip up and call you to bring them to justice!" Xing Su said, his eyes glancing at something.

"Swish"

In the pavilion courtyard, with its rock formations and fountains, a black and silver figure flashed by.

"If you dare to lie to me, do you know the consequences!" Li Wenji said, her eyes wide and fierce.

"I know, I know." Xing Su nodded, patting Li Wenji's head, and as he turned, a smile seemed to play on his lips.

Back at the chef's apartment, Xing Su stood at the door, his eyes narrowing. The mark he had left on the door had been slightly tampered with, indicating that a ghost had entered while he was away.

"I'm waiting for you to slip up. Trying to outsmart me is too naive. I'm curious about how you killed Dongmei." Xing Su's lips curled into a cold smile. As he opened the door, the smile vanished, and he walked in with a blank expression.

"Dongmei's death is indeed suspicious." Xing Su muttered to himself, sitting cross-legged on a cushion.

"Dongyue."

"Cui Yu."

"Cui Qi."

"Shen Gongbao."

...

Xing Su muttered names, slowly and rhythmically.

"Zi Buyu."

"Shen Shi."

"Shen Shi..."

Suddenly, several sharp sounds came from the roof, and in an instant, several sharp objects flew towards him.

Xing Su's eyes narrowed, his ears perked up, and a familiar smile appeared on his face.

"I was waiting for you to make a move, Shen Shi!" Xing Su shouted, raising his hand, and a black light flashed, sweeping across.

"Clang," "Clang," "Clang"...

The black light collided with several silver lights from the roof, clashing and scattering.

The black light was Xing Su's butcher knife, and the silver lights, now embedded in the floor, were shiny darts, their tips gleaming with poison!

"Did you use these darts to scatter Dongmei's soul?" Xing Su asked coldly, looking up.

On the roof, a black-clad ghost was "stuck," face covered, making it impossible to see his features.

"Shen Shi!" Xing Su shouted, "Give me your life!"

The black-clad ghost remained silent, his hand brushing his waist, and more darts shot towards Xing Su.

"Hmph! Useless!" Xing Su coldly said, sweeping the darts away with his butcher knife.

"Clang," "Clang," "Clang"...

The darts were deflected again.

"Xing Su!" The black-clad ghost's voice was hoarse, warning, "Don't meddle, or you'll die!"

"I'm curious how I'll die."

Xing Su kicked back, charging forward with his butcher knife, his movements fierce and wide, covering the black-clad ghost's vital points.

"Hmph!" The black-clad ghost coldly said, like ice water. He suddenly pulled up his clothes, and countless silver lights shot out, thousands of darts flying like meteors, aiming to pierce Xing Su's ghostly body with countless holes!

"Matron Meng's Soup!"

Xing Su's eyes turned cold, and he retracted his chopping stance, forming a black crescent moon in the air, protecting himself.

"Clang," "Clang," "Clang"...

Fireworks erupted, darts flying everywhere, embedding in the floor and walls.

After the wave of darts, Xing Su was forced into a corner, his face cold, looking at the black-clad ghost, who had disappeared.

"Escaped?" Xing Su's brows furrowed, the door opening, and a cold wind blew in.
