When she looked at them again, the red lanterns turned bright green and floated in the air. They were NOT hung on! She couldn’t make a sound anymore. Even if she was slow, she knew something was wrong, so she began to run out of the village. She shouted hoarsely all the way, shouting the names of everyone she could think of:

“Dad! Mom! Grandma! Fulin! Cousin Sister! …In the end, she cried and called out to Guizhi, her deskmate.

The night was late and dewy, and Chunjun couldn’t even see the moon. She was wearing her mother’s thick strap skirt, and shivered from the cold as she ran. In a moment of carelessness, she stepped on the slippery dry leaves and slipped, fell sideways, and rolled down the mountain.

As she rolled faster and faster, she tried to reach out to grab the weeds on the side, but except for a few scratches on her hand, she couldn’t stop the momentum at all.

Chunjun’s head kept bumping against the small stones. Her head was spinning and her head was extremely painful. Just as she saw herself about to hit on a big rock, a shade of red appeared in front of her eyes. She tried hard to see clearly, but her vision gradually blurred. The last second before she closed her eyes, a pair of green eyes met with hers.

*

Chunjun had a long dream in which Guizhi hugged her and told her not to be afraid. She kept crying and crying, saying that her hands hurt, her feet hurt, and everywhere hurt. Guizhi was gentle and patient. He looked at her when she cried, and blew on where it hurt.

Guizhi said, “Xiao Chun, marry me.”

Chunjun couldn’t believe it. She almost nodded when she felt a chill and pushed Guizhi away in the dream. “You are not Guizhi. Who are you?”

Guizhi would only call her Chunjun. Only the villagers call her Xiao Chun. So this person was not Guizhi.

Guizhi was still approaching her, but his gaze had changed. She kicked him with her foot, separating the two, only to have Guizhi wrapping his arms around her, and his face slowly came closer. Red fur began to grow on his face, and his eyes turned green. Guizhi’s head turned into a fox’s head. Chunjun screamed out an “ah!” and woke up.

She didn’t know where she was, thinking that the ceiling was strange. She carefully identified what kind of patterned ceiling it was, and then realized that it was a cave.

“You woke up?” An unfamiliar voice sounded.

Chunjun turned her head with difficulty and saw a tall and thin young man sitting in front of her. The two of them were in a cave, and there was a bonfire in the middle. The flame flickered, shining on the man’s face.

Seeing that the person was a handsome young man, even though he was a stranger, she was still a little relieved. At least he was a real person.

“Thank you. Were you the one who saved me?” Chunjun moved her lips and found it difficult to talk. Her voice had become hoarse from the shouting.

“You rolled down the mountain, and you were screaming in your dream, as if you were being chased by someone,” the man said.

Chunjun shivered again. She nodded. “I was chased by a fox just now. I’m a little thirsty. Do you have any water?”

The man smiled when he heard the word ‘fox’. Chunjun thought that he must not have believed her, so she insisted, “I saw it with my own eyes. It was super super big, and its eyes were green…”

The young man twisted open a water bottle and handed it over to her, shrugging somewhat unconcernedly. “Okay. I believe you.”

Chunjun rubbed her temples and persisted again, “You may think I’m crazy, but I’m really not. You have to believe me.”

The young man leaned closer to her. “I do believe you.” He blinked his eyes and suddenly approached. “The green eyes you mentioned, are they like mine?”

Chunjun was caught off guard by a sudden approaching face, and then she saw the man’s eyes. They were green…!!!

And she also clearly saw that there was a huge, fiery red tail behind the young man.

He…it’s not a human!!

Chunjun’s tears bursted out again. She silently opened her mouth and leaned back against the cave wall. She wanted to still be in the dream, but unfortunately, she was very much awake.

“Don-don’t come over,” Chunjun said hoarsely. Her body trembled, and she began to cry as she spoke. She had no way out.

The fox boy merely shoved the water bottle into her hand and stepped back. “Didn’t you say you want to drink water?”

Chunjun felt that her head was about to explode. She could only repeatedly say, “Don’t eat me. Don’t come over. Don’t eat me…”

The young man was bothered by her non-stop crying. “Stop crying.”

She was still crying.

The boy flashed his canine teeth. “If you continue to cry, I’ll eat you.”

She was so frightened that she didn’t dare to move. But she was still crying, silently crying.

The boy resignedly said, “Tsk, I’m just teasing you. I don’t eat humans.”

Chunjun cried for a while, tears almost dried up. The terrifying fox only sat motionless by the bonfire watching her and made no further action.

She was very puzzled. Both puzzled and worried. Why did it come to her? Her head was so jumbled up that she didn’t think about why there would be a person with a tail on his butt or a fox that turned into human form in the 21st century.

“Have you stopped crying?” the young man asked her.

Chunjun shook her head. She wanted to drink water, but she was afraid that there was poison in the water. “Who are you? A human or a fox?” she asked.

“I’m Ah Lang,” The young man replied. He looked at the water bottle in her hand, snatched it, and took a sip. “Drink it. I don’t need to use poison if I want to kill you.”

Chunjun was extremely shocked. She said with difficulty, “Which Ah Lang?”

The man shrugged again. “Ah Lang the Fox.”
