31. Did you think the equipment just appeared out of nowhere?
"Still worried about them? Commander, you worry too much. Each of them has their own judgment. They may act differently on a daily basis, but on the battlefield, they never let you down. In fact, they always perform perfectly."
"Exactly because they perform so well, I feel there's something wrong. Why do such outstanding girls become like that when they relax? Could it be because of me..."
"I think you're overthinking it, Commander."
"I hope so."
Looking at Sacramento, who was smiling beside him, the Commander sighed deeply.
On the way to the manufacturing plant to revise the tools, the Commander saw Sacramento standing by the roadside, looking at the sky leisurely, and called her to go along.
There's no doubt that the shipgirls are all good girls. The Commander was well aware of this. Compared to the other shipgirls he learned about in the Commander's lounge, the Commander was relieved that his shipgirls didn't show such extreme emotions.
For example, there were those who couldn't leave the Commander, those who would challenge other shipgirls to duels at the slightest provocation, and those who seemed to know something but actually knew nothing, dragging everyone down. Almost every naval base's shipgirls made the Commander worry a lot. His abandoned naval base could be considered a very perfect place.
If it weren't for the fact that many places had no humans, so he had to do everything himself, and that having the shipgirls process materials would be extremely costly, this place would undoubtedly be heaven.
The only thing to be sad about was that the angels in heaven seemed to have some mental issues.
"Although having youthful energy is good, and having a personality is also good, don't you think being too individualistic might affect daily life? Staying up all night just to chat, don't they worry about something going wrong during operations?"
Just thinking about the entire Air Force lying on the table made the Commander's head throb.
Don't they worry about their condition? This is war, a war where a slight mistake can lead to sinking. Why can they go through each day with such an attitude? It's too lax.
Always having such a carefree attitude could easily lead to a shipgirl not noticing an enemy aircraft and being hit by a few hundred pounds of bombs, sinking to the bottom of the sea.
This happened just a few days ago.
"I think Enterprise and the others can handle it," Sacramento, who was walking beside him, shrugged indifferently and said softly, "Besides, shipgirls don't really need much sleep, right? It doesn't matter much to us whether we sleep or not."
"I've already said it's not about that. If you don't rest well, you'll feel mentally fatigued. You're not made of steel—"
"Ah, yes, yes, Commander, you're really hardworking. No wonder you're the father of the naval base, worrying so much about your daughters. We shipgirls also feel the pain in our hearts, so we can only use this method to relieve your stress."
"Are you actually mocking me, Comrade Sara?"
"Who knows... Ah, we've arrived at the manufacturing plant. Let's go in together."
"Changing the subject again?"
Looking at Sacramento, who was completely uninterested, the Commander could only shake his head helplessly and pushed open the door of the manufacturing plant.
The steel door didn't resist the Commander's will much. It swung slightly and easily opened to both sides, releasing a strong smell of rust, making the Commander, as a human, frown subconsciously.
"001, are you not here?"
Looking at the quiet manufacturing plant, the Commander frowned.
Compared to the weapon storage, the manufacturing plant was a different scene.
Although the corners were still filled with machines rusted by seawater, and countless heavy machines could be seen that had been salvaged from the sea, there were still faint signs of use. For shipgirls, as long as they used subspace erosion to assimilate these machines, they could operate them to some extent.
So, many times, the execution team went overseas not to test weapons or monitor, but to salvage machines from the sea. If these manufacturing machines were not repaired by the shipgirls, the Commander would face a situation where resources would eventually run out.
"Ah, Commander? And Sacramento. Your combination is quite common. In my memory, you two are together about 80-90% of the time."
"001? Is the broadcasting system complete?"
Looking at the large speaker above, the Commander stood still and asked loudly.
"Should I say it's complete or not? I'm not sure. For some reason, it works inside the manufacturing plant but not outside. I don't understand why. It might be a limitation of us shipgirls."
"If it's purely technology, it should be common to both shipgirls and humans. Check if any key parts are assimilated; you should find the reason."
"I'll try again... By the way, Commander, why are you here now?"
"Regarding the allocation of high-molecular vibration knives and the adjustment of emergency combat regulations."
"Oh, right, right, you mentioned this last night. I almost forgot. Commander, wait at the entrance, I'll be right down. We'll go to the underground port anyway, so you don't need to come here."
Before the Commander could say anything, the speaker on the beam made a rustling sound, followed by a sharp scream, and then returned to silence.
What is she doing in there...
Looking at the speaker starting to emit smoke, the Commander couldn't help but think.
"Ah, sorry for the wait. I've assimilated the equipment. Time waits for no one, let's go."
Before the Commander had waited three minutes, the shadows deep in the manufacturing plant began to twist and deform. In the Commander's eyes, a wall gradually turned dark and chaotic, like a monster opening its mouth, and a girl in a white lab coat quickly walked out from the shadows.
The small girl, with her hands in her pockets, walked up to the Commander. She looked up and smiled broadly at the Commander. A flash of white light reflected off the round-bottomed glasses on her nose.
"Let's go, Commander. We need to provide the best service to those ladies."
