Chapter 21 of 32
20 - In the Northern Meadow

We’ve been hunting for a while now, for a good amount of time, but the frequency of rabbits is much lower than the day before.
Instead, I looked around the meadow and found a good number of broken weapons on the ground.

Broken Iron Arrow Quality:E Rarity:2 Durability:F
Note: An arrow with the arrowhead made of low-purity iron. It is broken.
It’s quite a good harvest. No, I sound like a bad person to say this.
There are a good number of them lying around, and since there are so many just in the northern meadow, there would be quite a few if we went everywhere.
I had observed their fighting styles so far, and they were all quite skilled.
Aya was running around with a high level of mobility, perhaps reflecting her liveliness, and striking a blow with her body weight whenever she saw an opening.
Alan, of course, was beating and defending himself with the frying pan, and with the knife, he was fighting and dismantling the rabbit, alive, of course. Scary.
When it comes to Tia, it’s a little bit overwhelming.
She swung her huge sword lightly in both hands crushing every enemy as if she was at an execution table. And the rabbits that jump onto her….
From the looks of this battle, it is reasonable to assume that an ecosystem exists and that the number of demons is finite.
If things go on like this, all the resources of this vast meadow will be completely drained up.
That’s because we shouldn’t be able to get out of it.
According to the information mail from Taku, if you try to go beyond the meadow and the beaches, you will be blocked by an invisible wall. The only place you can enter is the Wild Dog Forest in the southern part of the meadow.
The result is that almost all players continue to hunt in the meadows.
That was one of the objectives of this trip.
Why did I come to the meadow this time?
To talk to my sister. To pick up scrap iron. Looking for hints to go further in the meadow. Tia’s post-meal exercise. Testing my skills. Helping Alan gather food.
So.
While interacting with my sister, I collected scrap iron and food, and while Tia exercised, I checked her movements and tried to find a way to cross the meadow if possible.
In short, I’m just going to hunt as usual, carefully watching my surroundings.
“By the way, you’ve been picking up broken swords and bent spears, what will you use them for?“
“Maa, for various things.”
I’m not going to tell anyone, because this is a countermeasure based on library materials and speculation based on what I’ve seen in the market and on the battlefield, and it’s not certain.
◇
“Nothing’s coming, huh.”
Alan muttered in annoyance as he dismantled the rabbit he had just hunted.
I mean, Alan, you can dismantle it normally.
“It can’t be helped, can it? It seems that the number has been reduced at once.”
“Umu, maybe they’re running away to the forest in fear.”
I see, players can’t get through, but demons can get to the forest.
“Onie-chan, there’s another one over here.”
Aya rises quickly from the bushes, holding up a broken sword.
She’s cute like a dog.
“Ah, thank yo—”
When I took a step toward Aya, my ears suddenly picked up a strange feeling.
Something small was approaching at high speed.
It’s aim—
—Was me.
“ya!!”
“Bu!?”
I kicked it up as quickly as I could as it dove for my leg.
It spins vertically and flies towards Alan.
“Whoa”
“Bumu!??”
Alan flicked it off with a full swing with the frying pan.
As the cone rubbed and rotated, it flew straight towards Aya.
“Yaa!!”
“BUM!!????”
Aya knocked it off with the broken iron sword she was holding.
The place where it rolled away in a cloud of dust and smoke was…..pitiful…
“Ei.”
“Gugyu.”
Pitiful, the little marauder that suddenly attacked me was bounced around like a pinball and crushed by a guillotine at last.
“What was that?”
“That scared me”
The two of them were trying to look calm on the surface, but they must have noticed.
If they fought the current enemy head-on….
…There was a possibility that they would lose.
It was almost a complete surprise attack, simply because it was that fast. The only people who could compete with that are Taku and Chisato, followed by Aya, Yuri, and I wonder if Alan can?
It is not only its speed that was important, but also its durability.
My kick seemed to work, but that was only because it hit him on the head. It was just a result of the enemy’s speed and my kick.
On the other hand, Alan and Aya’s attacks, though imperfect, were still powerful enough to hunt a rabbit with certainty.
It would have been able to slice through the broken sword, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Alan’s neck bone would’ve gotten shattered from that.
When it rolled in front of Tia, there was no apparent damage.
If she went at it head on, it would have hunted her before she could.
Tia crushed it, the rabbit, but it was slightly later with horns on its forehead.
“Thank you, Tia.”
“No, it’s okay, Yuki and the others did a good job of rolling it in front of me.”
“Fufu, let’s leave it at that.”
In fact, Tia could have easily dealt with it, and I don’t think the rabbit’s attack could penetrate her full body armor.
“Alan, Aya, Tia, can I have this rabbit?”
“I don’t mind.”
“I don’t really need it either.”
“If Onie-chan wants it, then sure.”
Everyone I meet is kind and nice.
After that, the sun was going down and it was getting dark, so we called it a night.
Most of our share of the meat was sold to Alan, and I got all the broken weapons.
I left Aya and tried to head for the library, but Tia grabbed my hand and took me back to the castle.
I want to read a book….
