Chapter 3

Josie had the boss help him load the guns into the car, paid the money, and then got in the car and left.

However, after turning a few corners, Josie stopped again, ran his hand over all the guns and bullets, and they instantly disappeared.

Then he calmly got back into the car and drove off.

Half an hour later, Josie finally returned home, very fortunate that he hadn't encountered any trouble along the way.

Perhaps it was because a large number of unemployed young men had joined the military, but the security in Chicago during this period seemed to be quite good. At least in the week since Josie had arrived, he hadn't seen any serious crimes.

He certainly hadn't seen the scenes from gangster movies where the mafia would fire Thompson submachine guns on the streets.

Of course, just because Josie hadn't seen it didn't mean it didn't exist.

After all, whether in the past twenty or thirty years, or the next twenty or thirty years, it was a period of rapid growth for American organized crime.

If Josie had arrived a few years earlier, the scenes from movies where gangsters in overcoats and fedoras would fire Thompson submachine guns on the streets would have been more common.

The reason he didn't see it now was partly because the neighborhoods he frequented had better security, and in this era of racial segregation, there were no black people on the streets.

Another reason was the war.

Don't think the war had nothing to do with the gangs.

There was a significant connection.

One reason was that a large number of unemployed young men who used to hang around the streets had joined the military to earn money, reducing the influx of new blood into the gangs.

The second reason was that the gangs were busy making money.

Why do people join gangs? Ultimately, it's to make money.

What was the best way to make money during the war?

Smuggling!

No, it wasn't even smuggling anymore; it should be called transportation.

During the war, to support the European theater and due to the high risks of maritime transport, the United States had almost completely lifted restrictions on shipping to Europe.

As long as you had the nerve, any ship loaded with goods could return from Britain, Europe, or Asia with wealth that was dozens or even hundreds of times greater.

If you were going to risk your life, wasn't this better than fighting for territory in the United States?

So during the years of World War II, most of the American gangs were busy with "foreign trade."

Of course, this wasn't the whole story, but the rest either couldn't be openly discussed or had nothing to do with ordinary people.

Therefore, the security in the white neighborhoods during the war was much better than before the war.

Back at home, Josie locked the door and sat down in a chair.

"System! Contact Daenerys."

As he spoke, a virtual screen appeared in front of Josie.

This was the key to Josie's survival in this era and his golden finger—a system called the Planar Trading Device, which came from an unknown higher-dimensional civilization.

The function of the system was simple: it had a planar beacon that would be randomly sent to an unknown world to select a host.

Then Josie could trade with the host of this beacon.

The system would also generate a new planar beacon each year to search for new worlds.

In addition, the system had an extremely powerful storage function. The guns in the car disappeared because Josie had used this storage function.

The first planar beacon the system sent out found the world of a TV series Josie had watched in his previous life, *Game of Thrones*. The host was none other than the famous Daenerys Targaryen.

The ten ounces of gold Josie had previously provided was the first transaction he had made with Daenerys.

The items he used for the trade were a .38 revolver and a copy of *The Prince* left by his father, who had died before Josie's arrival.

This time, the M1917 rifle Josie had prepared was also intended for trading with Daenerys for more gold, or silver.

"Josie, did you buy the items?" The screen, which had been dark, lit up, and Daenerys, dressed simply but with a clean and beautiful face and silver hair, appeared.

The time when the planar beacon bound to Daenerys was during the sixth season of *Game of Thrones*, when she was captured by the Dothraki and then used fire to kill the Dothraki leaders, gaining the loyalty of the Dothraki and preparing to return to Slaver's Bay to quell the rebellion.

When she conquered Slaver's Bay again, she would lead her three dragons, the Unsullied army, and the Dothraki horde across the sea to retake Westeros.

"Of course. Look, this is a rifle. Its power and range are several times greater than a pistol." Josie waved his hand, and the M1917 appeared in his hand from the system's storage. He then began to explain the use of the bolt-action rifle to Daenerys, of course, without a live demonstration, as firing a shot would likely bring the police.

"Very good. Is it the same price as last time?" Daenerys wasn't concerned, as she had already used the pistol and knew the power of these weapons. Any weak person could easily kill a well-trained soldier with a gun, which was far more effective than a crossbow.

"That's not possible. Pistols have less power and are cheaper, but rifles are different. Their power is very strong. Believe me, Daenerys, no armor or shield in your world can withstand its shots at range." Josie shook his head, not trying to deceive her.

Although the M1917 was almost obsolete in the U.S. military and used only for training, it was still a highly sought-after weapon in many countries. Even years later, Chinese soldiers were still equipped with large numbers of these rifles and used them effectively against the U.S. military in the Korean War.

This rifle had a high initial velocity, high bullet kinetic energy, long range, and a flat trajectory, making it far superior to well-known rifles like the Arisaka Type 38.

Moreover, the full-power ammunition used by various countries during World Wars I and II had excellent penetration capabilities.

Although *A Song of Ice and Fire* is a fantasy world, the metallurgical skills of most human realms, except for the legendary Valyria, were not very advanced. The low purity of the gold Josie had previously traded was a clear indication.

So Josie didn't think any armor or shield in Westeros could withstand the shots from this rifle.

"Oh? What price do you suggest?" Seeing his confident demeanor, Daenerys became more interested.

Although the pistol had impressed her, the classic .38 revolver's power was well-known. It could penetrate light armor at close range, but against steel armor, it was questionable.

"Three times the price!" Josie boldly stated. "Don't think it's expensive. The pistol came with only fifty rounds, but this rifle comes with a hundred rounds per gun."

Josie had bought a thousand rounds, but he planned to give only a hundred and sell the rest separately.

After all, this was a monopoly, and he wasn't worried that Daenerys wouldn't buy it. Without bullets, the gun would be no better than a stick.

"If the power of this gun is as you say, then this price is not unreasonable." Daenerys nodded.

Gold was not a problem for her once she returned to Slaver's Bay, as the wealth accumulated by the slave masters was enormous.

If the power of this gun was as Josie described, and the Unsullied and the Dothraki horde were equipped with such magical weapons, along with her three adult dragons, who in Westeros could stand in her way?
