On a sunny spring day, Zhou Jiesi went up the mountain to pray. However, for no apparent reason, after he finished praying and lighting the incense, something seemed to fall from the sky. He suddenly blacked out and lost consciousness.
But what exactly happened? It was actually quite simple. While Zhou Jiesi was showing off at the temple on the mountain, a bright light came from the sky and hit him.
When he woke up, he thought he was anemic, as he had been kneeling on the ground for a while, lazily sitting on his knees. But when he stood up, he felt like he had fainted at that moment!
However, when he returned to his old house in his hometown, he realized he had traveled through time. This was real time travel. Why was he so sure? Because when Zhou Jiesi got home, he saw his little nephew, who had been asking him for food just a moment ago, was back in his sister's belly. "What the hell is going on?"
Although he was confused and scared, he couldn't help but feel a bit excited and thrilled. This kind of thing was something he had dreamed of for a long time! Although it was a bit shocking to actually experience it, Zhou Jiesi didn't wet his pants in fear or joy, which showed how strong his nerves were!
Feeling uneasy, Zhou Jiesi cautiously greeted his family. His movements and voice were so delicate, as if any sudden action or loud noise would make them disappear. After greeting them, Zhou Jiesi immediately returned to his room, locked the door, and sat on the bed, lost in thought.
Outside, his family looked at the spot where Zhou Jiesi had disappeared, utterly baffled. His father looked at his mother and said, "What's wrong with Xiaowu today? He's acting like a fool. Does he think he's performing a monkey show? This... this... this brat!" His father looked puzzled and a bit angry.
"Fool? Husband, who calls their own child a fool? You really shouldn't say such things!" Zhou's mother pointed at him, her voice tinged with protectiveness. "You're the one who's acting strange today. Just look at yourself..." Zhou's mother started nagging at his father.
Zhou's father looked at his wife, equally puzzled. What was going on? His son was acting weird, and so was his wife. What was happening?
Zhou Jiesi ignored his parents. They had been through this for most of their lives, and he wasn't worried about their little arguments. After sitting on the bed for a while, Zhou Jiesi started to chuckle to himself.
Unable to resist the fatigue, Zhou Jiesi slowly fell asleep. In his dream, he saw a group of small winged creatures, which he assumed were fairies, with pointed ears. The little creatures seemed to know what he was thinking, and their faces turned black with annoyance. Some of them thought, "What a shameless person, even in dreams."
The fairies looked at Zhou Jiesi with tense expressions, as if he were some kind of prehistoric beast.
In the dream, Zhou Jiesi felt like he was a child again, free to do as he pleased. Seeing the fairies' expressions, he felt a bit annoyed: "What kind of expressions are these? They look like they're guarding against a thief. I've helped old ladies cross the street and returned lost items, but I'm still a good person at heart! Oh, come on..."
This outburst made the fairies even more nervous. Some of them looked back, their faces filled with panic, like high school students hiding in the bathroom, trying to finish something important when someone suddenly knocked on the door. They wanted to stop but couldn't bear to, their faces twisted in a mix of frustration and desperation.
Despite being surrounded by the fairies, they thought they were well hidden. However, Zhou Jiesi suddenly saw a flash of green light. The fairies became even more tense, and some of them looked desperate.
Zhou Jiesi's mind raced, and he muttered, "There's something fishy going on, there must be something fishy."
In the age of web novels, the Chinese people were not afraid of ghosts or supernatural beings. This could only mean he was about to have a special encounter. He thought, even if it were a nuclear radiation, he might become a new human with special powers.
So, he threw caution to the wind and charged at the fairies.
The fairies, seeing Zhou Jiesi charge, started chanting a spell. Then, with a "bang," Zhou Jiesi felt like he had hit a wall, feeling a bit dizzy.
"Ah! Nonsense! How dare you defy the heavens!" Zhou Jiesi shouted, his dream shifting to a martial arts scenario, and he started using phrases from Hong Kong comics.
Despite this, Zhou Jiesi focused on the present. Seeing the spell work, he shouted, "Good!" and then started reciting a series of powerful moves: "Watch my Three-Part Unity, Soul-Devouring Palm, Esoteric Hand Seal, Kamehameha, World Destroying Fist, Dondora, Heavenly Thunder, Meteor Fist, Dawn Goddess's Forgiveness, and Mount Lu Dragon Dominance."
The wall the fairies had created was now riddled with cracks, and the fairies themselves looked pale and frightened, clearly out of options.
Seeing this, Zhou Jiesi became even more excited. "Hehe, they're almost done for. Let's finish this with a big move. Ah... my staff is thirsty, take this!" A giant staff materialized in the air, and he swung it at the fairies, breaking the wall and sending them flying.
"Ha... ha... ha..." Zhou Jiesi laughed, feeling a bit like a villain. A glowing treasure appeared in his hand. "Hmm, I should have done this earlier, right?" He felt a bit awkward but then thought, "How else would I show my greatness?" "Hehe..."
Looking at the green crystal in his hand, which was glowing and looked delicious, he felt an urge to eat it, regardless of whether it was safe. "I really want to eat it." He felt that eating it would grant him something, so he swallowed it without hesitation.
The crystal entered his stomach, and a wave of energy spread out, then bounced back, shrinking Zhou Jiesi's spirit into a tiny point. The spiritual world was now blank, with only the small crystal glowing.
In his room, Zhou Jiesi suddenly shivered and woke up. He felt something new in his mind, a partial inheritance of knowledge that only confused him more.
However, his face was full of surprise. "Hehe, it wasn't a dream. This is amazing. Sometimes, luck just can't be stopped. The world is so wonderful. Hehe... hehe..." Zhou Jiesi laughed happily.
"Enter." Without a sound, Zhou Jiesi mysteriously disappeared from the room and reappeared. "Ha... ha... so that's how it works. I can enter and leave at will. I should test the time ratio. According to the novels, there should be a time ratio or something."
He started experimenting, taking the old alarm clock and setting it to the same time as his phone.
He entered the space again and finally had a chance to look around. He saw a massive tree that reached from the ground to the sky, with many branches and roots hanging down like a banyan tree.
Some of the roots formed small spheres, which were tree houses where the fairies (fairies: "We are fairies, baka!") lived. The fairies were hiding in their houses, peeking at him.
The tree's leaves were blue and cat-eared, and the trunk was bright green. There were no fallen leaves, and the ground glowed with a faint light. There were no plants on the ground, making it look empty. Beyond the glowing ground was a ring of water, and beyond that, ordinary land, which then led to a void.
The outer land area was about four to five acres, and the ground under the tree was about the size of two football fields. The river was as wide as an Olympic track, with no clear beginning or end, just circling around.
Zhou Jiesi appeared next to the river and looked at the water, which was empty. In this space, he felt like the ruler.
He moved his mind, and the flowing water formed a bridge, but it only lasted a few seconds before returning to its original state.
Zhou Jiesi sat down and then lay on the ground, panting heavily, his face pale and sweating, his eyes bloodshot. "What a scam, what a scam." These words echoed in his mind.
