Qin Yi told Ryan and Hobbs about the trip to New York that evening, entrusting the ranch's trivial matters to them and asking to be notified of any important matters.
As expected, Becky couldn't join them as she wished. The Walkers weren't worried about Becky's safety, but they were afraid of disturbing Qin Yi's trip.
Seeing the pitiful little girl, Qin Yi and Susa couldn't say much. They comforted her, promising to bring back gifts, and Angel held her hand to console her.
"Little Sister Becky, we'll be back soon, and I'll bring you a fun gift!" Angel patted Becky's little head, acting like a caring big sister.
"Okay, Sister Angel, come back soon!"
And so, Qin Yi set off with Susa and Angel.
When they landed in New York, it was already 10 PM. Fortunately, Qin Yi, who was quite adept with his smartphone, had already booked a room at the Surrey Hotel. Taking a taxi wasn't a hassle.
He chose this hotel for a reason. This five-star hotel is near Central Park and Rockefeller Center, making it convenient for daytime sightseeing. From the window, one can enjoy the beautiful views of Central Park and the sparkling lights of Manhattan at night.
On the way to the hotel, Angel, curious about the beautiful big city, pointed at the distant beautiful buildings and large screens, saying things like "big houses" and "big TVs," which made the two of them very happy.
Upon reaching the hotel room, Qin Yi called for dinner. The three of them ate a little and then prepared to rest.
"Mom, I want to sleep with Uncle Yi, can I?" Susa was about to return to her room with Angel, but the little girl clung to her neck, looking at her expectantly.
"Angel, if you want to grow up, you need to get used to sleeping alone. Otherwise, you'll always be a little girl," Susa said with a smile, coaxing her.
"Hmm... Little Sister Becky sleeps alone, so I'll sleep alone too. But I want to hear a story!"
The little girl remembered that Becky always slept alone. If she didn't, Becky would grow faster and she would have to call Becky "sister." She didn't want to be a little sister!
"Okay, you can have a story," Qin Yi, who didn't know the little girl's thoughts, took Susa and Angel back to their room.
It was a double room with two beds. When Qin Yi booked the room, Susa was also there to help choose, so this room was for them. Qin Yi watched TV casually in the living room while Susa gave the little girl a bath.
Angel was quite tired. Under Susa's urging, she didn't play in the water and quickly finished her bath. After changing into a cartoon pajama and getting into bed, Qin Yi told her a story, and she soon fell asleep.
After returning to the room, Qin Yi took a shower, poured a glass of red wine, and stood by the window, looking at the wide streets and the tall buildings dotted with lights in the distance, feeling the quiet of the big city at night.
The next morning, he woke up very early, a good habit from the ranch. He couldn't get a lazy sleep, so he was already energetic early in the morning and couldn't fall back asleep.
The city outside the window was waking up. On the street below, pedestrians and vehicles gradually increased, adding more vitality to the bustling city. In Central Park, some people were walking or jogging, starting to enjoy a beautiful day.
After washing up and opening the door, Susa brought Angel over. The three of them went to the hotel gym.
They changed into their workout clothes. Susa's tight sportswear showed off her perfect figure, making Qin Yi look at her several times. They found a fitness ball for Angel to play with and chose adjacent treadmills to start jogging.
The three of them didn't choose to eat at the hotel but found a nice French breakfast place on Madison Avenue. They ordered a refined French breakfast from a friendly waiter.
French breakfasts are mostly sweet, with croissants carrying a rich buttery aroma, golden raisin bread, and whole grain bread giving a hearty feeling. Paired with aromatic coffee or hot milk, it was truly a wonderful morning.
Angel was the happiest, as children love these sweet, pastry-like foods. Her nose and chin were covered in cream, so Susa had to help her clean up while eating.
Today's activity was to visit Central Park in New York. Although the park is open all day, some attractions inside only open at 10 AM. After breakfast, Qin Yi and the two girls wandered around the park.
This park was different from the ranch. Although it was also green and full of flowers, the gravel paths and smooth roads added a lot of cultural atmosphere. Angel, who had never seen such a large park before, was very curious. She held Qin Yi's hand with one hand and Susa's with the other, her big eyes looking around, very curious.
Sometimes, when they encountered a strange little flower by the roadside, she would squat down to look at it for a while. However, the little girl was very obedient. She remembered well the civilized behaviors Susa taught her, such as not littering and not picking flowers or leaves. Qin Yi and Susa were very satisfied and praised her for growing up, saying she would definitely be an excellent girl, making her smile with delight!
They saw a small lake, crossed a small bridge, and eventually came to the Sheep Meadow.
The Sheep Meadow is a large grass field. Decades ago, it was indeed used for grazing sheep, but now it is a great place for picnics and sunbathing. It was quite spacious, and even though it was early morning, many people were already enjoying themselves there.
Young people mostly came by bicycle, leaving their bikes on the grass. Some brought blankets to spread on the grass, sitting or lying down casually, quietly reading books or enjoying the dense maple forests and the skyscrapers behind them. This blend of civilization and nature gave everyone different life insights.
Of course, such deep thoughts were too heavy. Just sitting here and quietly enjoying a beautiful morning was the most comfortable thing.
As they walked and toured, it was soon 10 AM. With the eager Angel, Qin Yi and Susa went to the small zoo in the park. There were sea lions, polar bears, penguins, and other small animals, which Angel found very interesting.
They first went to the Arctic zone. The little girl heard there were big bears and wanted to see if they were as big as Meggie.
At the Arctic zone, through the safety glass, they watched the white polar bear walking in the simulated mountain and stream. It was quite nice, but unfortunately, the imagined large and fierce beast looked more like a cute and clumsy toy, disappointing Qin Yi.
This big guy was only a bit larger than Meggie and might not be a match for the enhanced female brown bear in a fight.
However, there was nothing he could do. These were zoo animals, possibly long lost their wild nature. Qin Yi silently calculated that he must take Meggie hunting during the hunting season, or else Meggie and Teddy might end up like this.
Angel, however, really liked it. The bear really looked like a fluffy stuffed toy!
With a reluctant Angel, they went to the penguin area. The cute little creatures instantly drew Angel's attention back from the polar bear! Watching them flap their short feet and waddle into the water like a seesaw, the little girl, like the other children around, was excited and cheered!
"Uncle Yi, let's keep a little penguin too!" Angel pressed her face against the safety glass, as if this would bring her closer to the penguins, her big eyes full of hope.
"But penguins can only live here. They would die outside," Qin Yi patiently explained to the little girl.
Angel was a bit disappointed but didn't dwell on it. She raised her little camera and took two photos.
"I want to take nice pictures, two of them, one for me and one for Little Sister Becky!"
"Angel, you're such a good girl. Becky will be very happy when you give her the pictures," Susa touched the little girl's bangs, happy with her understanding.
Leaving the Arctic zone, they went to the sea lion performance area. This was the most crowded area in the zoo, possibly because the sea lion performances were more engaging than the lazy polar bears and cute penguins.
When they arrived, the sea lions were just climbing out of the water, nimbly climbing onto the fake rocks and posing for the crowd. For a moment, both adults and children clapped and cheered, and the little girl was jumping and laughing, very happy!
It seemed that compared to penguins, sea lions were better at being cute, even drawing cheers from adults.
