Chapter 40

Since he had decided to return to China, Qin Yi called Ryan to brief him on the ranch matters.

However, just as he was about to take out his phone, Ryan’s call came in, startling Qin Yi. What the heck, can Ryan predict the future?

Shaking his head, Qin Yi answered the call, “It’s me, Yi.”

“Yi, we have a deal! Barney wants to buy some alfalfa hay from our ranch. God, this is our ranch’s first deal!” Ryan’s voice was filled with excitement. This emotion of crying and laughing for the ranch made Qin Yi very satisfied.

“Barney?” Qin Yi was a bit puzzled, as he had never heard of him.

“Oh, God, look at me, I forgot to introduce him, I’m just too happy!” Ryan patted his forehead, “Yi, Barney is our neighbor, Barney Walker, who operates a farm of over 5,000 acres, mainly raising dairy cows, with a small portion for beef cattle and sheep. Oh, and he also has a fairly large apple orchard.”

“Alfalfa hay? New variety of forage? He already knows?” Qin Yi asked three questions in a row, a bit confused. Although the new forage wasn’t intended to be kept secret, it was too soon for him to know. The cows on his ranch had only been eating it for a few days, and the effects wouldn’t show up so quickly!

“No, no,” Ryan quickly waved his hands, not caring whether Qin Yi could see, “Yi, although the new forage has been talked about, people don’t know the specifics. They just guess it might be better. What Barney wants to buy is regular forage.”

Ryan went to the kitchen to pour a cup of coffee, talking as he walked, “Barney usually buys some alfalfa hay from the ranch every year, which saves a lot of feed. This year, it’s a bit earlier, probably because the drought has had a significant impact on his farm.”

Qin Yi understood, “Then let’s do it as usual. You take care of this. By the way, Ryan, I’m going back to China tomorrow for a few days. If there’s anything at the ranch, call me.”

Just as he was about to hang up, he suddenly remembered Lai Pi, and this time he didn’t plan to take it back, “Also, Ryan, tell Suzy that there are apples in the fridge. Feed Lai Pi at noon and in the evening.”

After making these arrangements, Qin Yi still needed to talk to Angel. Of course, this couldn’t be done with just a phone call, so Qin Yi specially went to pick up the little girl, and of course, Susa couldn’t be left out.

He spent the afternoon playing with the little girl, then made a sumptuous dinner in the evening, and finally took the two back home.

Finally, Qin Yi called home, saying he would be back for a couple of days. His parents were very happy. Now, with some spare money, he could return home whenever he wanted, unlike before when he could only reunite with his family during the New Year!

Then he called Wang Xixi in Hai City, asking him to pick him up, though it was a joke. He just wanted to meet for a meal and catch up!

After hanging up, he logged into QQ and posted in the group: “Brothers, I’ll be in Hai City the day after tomorrow, and in Zheng City the day after that. Those who are free, get ready for a big feast! I’ll treat you to street food, and we’ll all gather!”

After doing this, Qin Yi took a shower and went to bed. He had an early flight the next morning, so he went to bed early.

The group members who saw the message were all excited, saying that a rich guy was treating them, and they definitely had to go. They wouldn’t feel right if they didn’t have a good feast! Qin Yi, of course, didn’t know this as he slept.

The next morning, Qin Yi put the improved vegetable seeds he had prepared recently into the space. There were many seeds, enough to plant dozens of acres. This was Qin Yi’s idea to help his sisters make money. The vegetables grown from these improved seeds would be delicious, and the seeds were rich in spiritual energy, so the vegetables would also have a faint spiritual energy. Long-term consumption could regulate the body and have a certain health-preserving effect. Let Ye Fang take the lead and focus on the high-end market, and the business would definitely be good.

He also put a large piece of beef in the space to stew at home. Beef wasn’t often eaten at home, so this time he wanted his parents to have their fill, hahaha!

He drove to old Joyce’s fur shop in Augusta and bought some deer skin boots, belts, and clothes. He had to bring some gifts for his family. Then, in a secluded place, he put everything into the space and set off for China!

It was already July, and today was July 2nd. In two days, it would be America’s Independence Day. Unfortunately, Qin Yi didn’t know this when he was at the ranch. He only found out after seeing some shops with banners in Augusta.

But it didn’t matter. Although he was an American citizen, he was still culturally and ideologically Chinese!

Qin Yi’s flight from Los Angeles at 1:15 PM would arrive in Pudong, Hai City, at 6:00 PM on the 3rd, due to the time difference. After leaving the airport, he took a taxi to the Garden Hotel. He had already booked a room on the plane. After taking a shower, he called Wang Xixi, and the two found a place to eat and chat.

Wang Xixi had changed a lot in nearly two years. He wore leather shoes, a white shirt, dress pants, and a tie, a typical urban white-collar worker. With his smooth talk and daring personality, he was definitely one of the best among the old classmates! But Qin Yi, in his ordinary casual clothes, still looked very good to Wang Xix. Of course, it wasn’t because the clothes were good. Although Qin Yi had some money, his clothes were still similar to before, at most with better fabric. But even in such ordinary casual clothes, Qin Yi gave off a sunny, energetic, and relaxed vibe.

The two naturally had a lot to talk about when they met!

Wang Xixi, who had been in Hai City for almost two years, was quite familiar with the city. He took Qin Yi to a street food stall. As old friends, there was no need for formalities, and they could talk loudly, drink heartily, and eat freely, enjoying a carefree evening!

Originally, Qin Yi wanted to set the dinner for the next noon, but at Wang Xixi’s suggestion, he changed it to the evening, so everyone could come after work and have a more relaxed time.

The next day, Wang Xixi took a day off and planned to show Qin Yi around. Unexpectedly, early in the morning, Ye Fang and Fang Yue both called, asking Qin Yi to pick them up at noon. One was from Beijing, the other from Shenzhen. These two, who were far apart, had both bought tickets to fly over. Qin Yi found it amusing and was also deeply moved.

After the calls, Ye Fang and Fang Yue posted their tickets in the group, calling on everyone who could come. They claimed Qin Yi would cover the airfare, which made everyone exclaim and praise their strong bond! Qin Yi, seeing this, couldn’t help but shake his head. These two were really causing trouble for him, not because of the money, but because he was afraid people would think he was showing off and distancing himself from his classmates!

But since it was already like this, Qin Yi didn’t act pretentiously. He liked their posts and commented: “Those who can come, come. If you can’t make it, you can fly to Zheng City. All airfares are covered! Life is busy, and it’s getting harder to gather. This time, let’s just enjoy the camaraderie!”

This comment made the group explode, bringing out many who hadn’t posted for months. They all said they would come even if it meant skipping work! Of course, it wasn’t for the free food and drinks, but for the phrase “classmate camaraderie”!

Since most people commented that they had bought train tickets and would cover their own expenses, they couldn’t make it to Hai City, but would go to Zheng City instead.

Qin Yi didn’t force it and was actually a bit happy. For everyone, a plane ticket might be a bit painful, but a train ticket was no big deal. This showed more of the classmate camaraderie. He didn’t expect that Ye Fang and Fang Yue’s playful suggestion would accidentally awaken the long-suppressed desire for classmate gatherings in everyone’s hearts!

Often, classmates don’t contact each other as much, not because the feelings have faded, but because of the pressures of work and life, and the many disappointments in reality. This camaraderie is buried deep in everyone’s hearts.

But being buried doesn’t mean forgotten; it’s like fine wine, getting better with age!

Perhaps, on a quiet night, savoring it alone, it can bring infinite comfort!

In the morning, Qin Yi and Wang Xixi visited the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Bund, and the City God Temple, a quick tour of the three scenic spots. Although they didn’t leave much of an impression, it was still worth the trip, at least they had been there!

At noon, they picked up Ye Fang and Fang Yue. After two years since graduation, the four of them were finally reunited, and the atmosphere was very warm. Walking around the city, seeing the girls in short skirts and hot pants, they all remembered the happy and relaxed days of college.

They found a hot pot restaurant, and eating hot pot in the hot summer, drinking cold beer, felt really good. No wonder many people still eat hot pot in the summer!

In the afternoon, the four, a bit tipsy, decided to take a taxi to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of the top universities in the country, to reminisce about their college days. Time passed quickly, and by evening, they had booked a private room at the Garden Hotel. Qin Yi and Wang Xixi greeted the old classmates downstairs, while Ye Fang and Fang Yue helped entertain them in the private room.

Wang Xixi was responsible for contacting the classmates in Hai City, but not just from Hai City. Classmates from nearby Hangzhou and Suzhou also came by train on the same day. A few even flew in, like Zhu Bowen from Nan City and Liu Bin from Wu City. In total, about ten people gathered, with more heading to Zheng City.

By 7:00 PM, all the classmates had arrived, and they started eating on time! A meal, toasting and reminiscing about classmate camaraderie, recalling the campus lake, talking about which girls had crushes on whom, and teasing who had been rejected when confessing to a girl. The evening was filled with laughter, and everyone was very happy.

The next morning, after seeing off the classmates, the four roommates boarded the flight to Zheng City. This time, Qin Yi covered the airfares for all of them. The three were very happy, and given their relationship, they didn’t act formally. What made Qin Yi speechless was that Ye Fang, the richest among them, was the happiest, and he was happy all the way!

Upon arriving in Zheng City, they didn’t have anyone pick them up. Qin Yi took the three to a personal parking lot near the airport and drove out the Jeep Renegade he had left there when he went to America.

Seeing the car, Wang Xixi’s eyes lit up. He touched the hood, and his expression was like touching his lover’s hair, making everyone laugh.

“I don’t mind if you laugh, but I really like such off-road vehicles! This is a Jeep Renegade, costing 400,000 to 500,000 RMB. I dream of having one, but it’s just a dream!” Wang Xixi smiled, shaking his head, a mix of longing and melancholy.

“You drive today!” Qin Yi patted his shoulder and handed him the keys. Wang Xixi and Fang Yue both had driver’s licenses, but like Qin Yi before, they didn’t have cars.

Wang Xixi, hearing this, took the keys and sat in the driver’s seat, extremely happy. Although he couldn’t afford it, at least he had driven it. Fang Yue laughed and sat in the passenger seat, while Qin Yi and Ye Fang got into the back. They drove to the Baron International, where Qin Yi planned to book a private room for the evening feast.

On the way, the four chatted and laughed, but Qin Yi was thinking about how to help Wang Xixi and Fang Yue find a path. These two were talented, but there were many talented people in society. What they lacked was a path.

But what could they do now? Grow vegetables? With the improved vegetable seeds he provided, the vegetables would definitely be delicious, and with Ye Fang’s connections, they could supply high-end hotels at a high price without any problem.

However, growing vegetables was something anyone could do. For two high-achievers to go home and grow vegetables would be a waste of talent! Most importantly, Qin Yi wanted to give this path to his two sisters, who had low educational levels and found it hard to find suitable ways to make money. This easy and profitable job was perfect for them!

It seemed he still needed to find other paths for these two brothers.
