Everyone took a fruit to taste, and indeed, it was delicious. They had never heard of such a tasty fruit before.
In the end, Qin Feng couldn't resist the temptation to eat, but as a pregnant woman, she didn't dare to eat too much. Liu Feng cut a small piece of apple for her to try. Once she tasted it, she wanted more! In the end, she soaked it in warm water and ate half of it to satisfy her craving. The delicious fruit also attracted Yangyang and Lele. The two of them, holding large apples, stopped playing and sat in a row in the living room, munching while watching TV.
"Xiao Yi, how big is your ranch?" After eating some fruit, everyone was present, and Liu Feng started to ask about Qin Yi's situation. Everyone fell silent, looking at Qin Yi, waiting for him to explain, while Yangyang and Lele were still watching the bears eat their apples.
"Several thousand acres, I bought it for a few million!" Qin Yi didn't dare to tell the truth, fearing it would shock them. He thought it would be better to adapt gradually when they visit the ranch.
"Several thousand acres?" Mother Li Guilan exclaimed in surprise. She thought that even ten acres was a large area, so several thousand acres must be unimaginably vast!
Everyone else also drew a sharp breath, never expecting such a large fortune to appear suddenly. They knew Qin Yi had money, but they never imagined he had this much. The cows in the ranch, selling hundreds or even thousands of them, would bring in several million more... He was really rich!
"Yes," Qin Yi smiled, looking at everyone's expressions, "anyway, we have money now." He then took out the car keys and looked at his elder and second sisters, "I bought the car for over 400,000, and I haven't driven it much in just a month. I'll give it to my second sister. You don't need to buy a car anymore." He handed the keys over, but his second sister, though happy and wanting it, didn't take them. It wasn't out of politeness; she just thought it wasn't right to take it when her elder sister hadn't received anything yet.
Mother Li Guilan and Qin Jun watched without speaking, believing their son could handle it well.
Qin Yi smiled and didn't insist. He turned to his elder sister, "Elder Sister, I have two cars, one for you and one for Second Sister. They are both the same price, but I can't give them to you now. I'll bring one for you when I come back for the New Year. In the meantime, learn to drive and get a license. Second Sister, you should do the same; what's the point of having a car if you can't drive it!" He then threw the keys to Liu Feng.
Everyone was satisfied with Qin Yi's words. Liu Feng happily took the keys, feeling incredibly happy. He had planned to save for two years to buy a car worth over 100,000, but now his brother-in-law casually gave him one worth over 400,000. What a great deal!
The two little ones, who were easily distracted, also heard this. Yangyang, who had fallen in love with the big black car at his uncle's house, was overjoyed when he saw his uncle giving it to his family. He didn't understand much but knew the car was now his.
Lele, who was envious but didn't make a fuss, didn't want to leave a bad impression on the children. Qin Yi quickly squatted down to comfort him, "Lele, you should listen to your mom at home, okay? When I come back for the New Year, I'll give your family a big car just like this, okay?"
Lele's face lit up with a bright smile, hugging his uncle and saying it was good. After playing with the two little ones for a while, he let them continue watching TV, and the adults resumed their discussion. The elder and second sisters had been invited by Qin Yi through Mother Li Guilan, and they all knew what to talk about. The first topic was the ranch, and everyone wanted to know more about Qin Yi's situation to feel reassured.
The second topic was about work, which Qin Yi was about to discuss. Indeed, he was talking about this, though the process was different from what everyone expected.
"Didn't I say I would help you find a way? I've already found it. I won't say more now. Elder Sister, make a few vegetable dishes for everyone to taste." Qin Yi got up and took some vegetables from the fridge: cucumbers, eggplants, green beans, and tomatoes. The main point was to taste the flavor and let them know how good these vegetables were.
Elder Sister didn't hesitate, took the vegetables, and went to the kitchen.
Although everyone didn't know what Qin Yi meant, they guessed it had something to do with vegetables. They didn't say much and gathered around the kitchen to see what he had in mind. Second Sister Qin Feng was pregnant, so Mother Li Guilan and Qin Li helped. They quickly prepared some simple dishes: cold cucumber, stir-fried green beans, cold tomato, and braised eggplant. The dishes were soon on the table, and everyone moved over, even Yangyang and Lele came to join in.
"Everyone, try these vegetable dishes." Qin Yi didn't say more, just picked up his chopsticks and encouraged everyone to taste. They sat down, looking at the dishes, which didn't seem special... but they decided to try them anyway.
"Hmm?" Qin Feng was the first to try, taking a bite of the braised eggplant. Her eyes lit up; it was delicious! Qin Li, who had been working outside for a long time, hadn't tasted her sister's cooking in a while. She was surprised by how good it was.
"Sister, you really made this well. But I don't see anything special. I make it the same way, but it doesn't taste like this." Qin Feng kept eating, quickly finishing a third of the dish.
Qin Li tried a bite and agreed, "I never made it this good before."
"Try the cold cucumber Mom made!" Liu Feng, after eating a bite of cucumber, quickly recommended it to everyone.
The cold cucumber was simple but delicious. The key was to pound it hard and fast, then mix it with garlic sauce. It was simple but not simplistic.
They had eaten their mother's cooking all their lives and remembered the taste, but this time, it tasted different. They had always liked their mother's cooking, but the cucumber now tasted fresher and more satisfying. Qin Jun also said it was good, but they couldn't express exactly why.
"This is good, not in a way that makes you want to eat it all, but in a way that leaves you feeling satisfied and comfortable!"
Qin Yi's casual comment earned nods from everyone. Indeed, it wasn't the kind of delicious that made you forget everything else, but the satisfaction and comfort were obvious and unique to these vegetables.
While the adults were eating, Lele and Yangyang, the two little ones, naturally joined in. But seeing the half-plates of vegetables, Lele lost interest. He had always disliked vegetables, even picking out the green bits in his instant noodles. In contrast, Yangyang never picky, eating everything from vegetables to meat, milk, and fruit.
Qin Yi believed this was why Lele, at 4.5 years old, wasn't as tall and strong as 4-year-old Yangyang.
Seeing Lele about to run away, Qin Yi quickly caught him and held him in his arms, "Ha, you can't run away, I've caught you!"
"Help!" Lele shouted, but his face was happy. Because of his straightforward mother and indifferent father, he had a quiet personality, rarely played with anyone. He had always liked his uncle, who played with him. "Let me go, Uncle, I'll call Bald Strong! Help... Bald Strong..."
Qin Li watched her brother and son play, smiling happily. It was relaxing to be at home.
"Okay, I'll let you go, but you have to eat a piece of tomato!" Qin Yi tried to get him to eat more vegetables, even if just a little.
"Okay," Lele reluctantly agreed, clearly not wanting to, but willing to do it to escape. "Just one piece, and you let me go!"
Mother Li Guilan, sitting next to Qin Yi, smiled and quickly put a piece of tomato in Lele's mouth, watching him eat it, feeling happy. The child's picky eating habits worried everyone.
To everyone's surprise, after eating the tomato, Lele didn't run away. His eyes kept darting between the cucumber and tomato.
Qin Yi smiled and handed him a pair of chopsticks, letting him eat on his own. "Hmph, no matter how picky you are, you can't escape my super vegetables!"
Everyone was amazed. The vegetables were indeed delicious, but they never expected a piece of tomato to make a picky eater like Lele give in!
Everyone was happy. Children needed vegetables to grow, and seeing the two little ones eating so well, Qin Jun moved the plates closer to them, smiling.
After everyone had tasted the vegetables and realized their uniqueness, Qin Yi began to explain his idea. "You probably guessed it. Yes, these vegetables are different from the usual ones. They are new varieties I got from abroad, resistant to pests and diseases, high-yielding, and delicious. Most importantly, eating them regularly can improve health!"
"Improve health? Vegetables can improve health?" Liu Feng asked in surprise. He didn't doubt the quality of the vegetables, but the idea that common vegetables could improve health was surprising. His parents and sisters had similar expressions.
"Exactly!" Qin Yi didn't elaborate, "My idea is for you to lease a few acres of land and grow these new vegetables. The cheapest price for these vegetables is 10 yuan per pound!"
"10 yuan?" This shocked everyone. That was the price of pork!
"Of course!" Qin Yi was confident, thinking 10 yuan was already a low price, "If you want to buy, you can. I can also help you find buyers. As long as you grow them, they will be sold. The buyers will come to the field to pick them up. This is the opportunity I mentioned. Think about it and ask me if you have any questions."
Everyone was stunned. At 10 yuan per pound, leasing a few acres of land could earn them hundreds of thousands of yuan a year. It was like printing money!
After a moment, Mother Li Guilan spoke, "Yi, explain clearly. If you really grow these vegetables, what do your sisters need to do?"
Qin Yi was a bit puzzled. What did they need to do?
"Just lease the land in the village. You don't need to worry about anything else. Don't use chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Hire people to weed and catch pests. If you decide to grow them, take the seeds with you when you leave. I have them ready."
"Where do the seeds come from? Are they expensive?" Mother Li Guilan continued, and everyone looked at Qin Yi.
Qin Yi slapped his thigh, realizing he hadn't explained clearly. They were worried about the cost of the seeds. It made sense; leasing a few acres of land for hundreds of thousands of yuan a year, and the seed producers wouldn't let them make money so easily.
"Free!" Qin Yi laughed, but he understood their concern, "The seeds are mine, just for my sisters to grow vegetables." He turned to his sisters, "Elder Sister, Second Sister, you only need to pay for the land and hiring people to help. The rest is on you, and all the profits are yours!"
Everyone was surprised. If it was really like this, they would definitely stay home and grow vegetables! Although they were shocked, they trusted their brother who had grown up with them. Their hesitation was only because they feared the seeds would be too expensive, costing all their savings. Now, what was there to fear?
PS: First, I want to thank everyone for the recommendations and support. This week, the new book rankings are better than last week, and I appreciate everyone's support! Also, I won't get the Three Rivers recommendation next week, but I finally got my first recommendation: the new book recommendation in the category, commonly known as the "underwear" recommendation. I hear that most new books use this for their first recommendation, but regardless, I have a recommendation now! The rankings will change tomorrow afternoon, but I'm a slow bird, so I'm asking for next week's recommendations and clicks today. I hope everyone continues to support me. Thank you all!
