Of course, before Qin Yi boarded the plane, he sent Lai Pi into the space, tying it under the apple tree to prevent it from causing trouble inside the space. At this moment, several fruit trees were already in bloom, and in a few days, there would be delicious fruits to eat. However, the Lingyuan grass and Xueshen had not even sprouted, and the Blood Spirit fruit tree remained the same. It seemed that the next harvest would still be a long way off. The speed at which the Spirit Spring converted into spring water had slowed significantly. After observing for several days, Qin Yi felt it would take a month to fill the pond.
A few hours later, the plane landed in Zhengzhou, the capital of Yunnan Province, in the afternoon. With no luggage to speak of, Qin Yi carried a backpack and took a taxi straight to a 4S store, planning to buy a car to drive home. Upon arriving at the 4S store, he didn't look around much. He found an SUV and chose a Jeep Renegade priced at over 400,000 yuan. He paid with a credit card and left the paperwork and registration to the store, which, although more expensive, was convenient and quick. As for the driver's license, Qin Yi had obtained it in college but had never had the money to buy a car...
An hour later, everything was done, and Qin Yi drove away. He first went to a shopping mall to buy some clothes and supplements for his parents, as well as some gifts to give to others when he returned home. After doing all this, Qin Yi went to the bank to withdraw 100,000 yuan, then found a hotel to eat and rest, during which he released Lai Pi from the space. As soon as Lai Pi was released, it started chirping at Qin Yi, patting its belly with its front paws, as if saying it was hungry. Qin Yi found it very amusing, thinking the little thing was really smart!
He took some spring water and fed Lai Pi two fruits. Qin Yi felt he should put some vegetables in the space, otherwise, all the fruits would end up in Lai Pi's stomach. But then he thought, it was only for a couple of days. Once in the U.S., he would release Lai Pi into the pasture, where there would be so much grass that it would be overwhelmed.
The next morning, Qin Yi took Lai Pi and drove home.
Qin Yi's family was in very poor condition. This year, with the help of his two older sisters, they had built a new house, but they still owed a lot of money to relatives and neighbors. Qin Yi wanted to leave some money for his parents to pay off their debts and to let his relatives and friends know that he had made something of himself, so that his parents could be proud.
In the morning, after a 4-5 hour drive, Qin Yi arrived at his hometown, Dancheng County. After getting off the highway, he didn't stop and arrived at his village half an hour later. In the village, he got out of the car to greet people he knew, which was a rural custom. He drove slowly, and when he reached his home, his parents, Qin Jun and Li Guilan, were waiting, along with many curious neighbors.
Earlier in the morning, Qin Yi had called to say he had made money and was coming home to visit. The couple was a bit worried, fearing that their son had done something wrong. Now, seeing him return in a car, their worries deepened. What kind of business could make so much money so quickly? But now was not the time to ask questions. Qin Jun and Li Guilan greeted the neighbors with smiles.
Qin Yi got out of the car and greeted everyone, including the aunts and grandmothers.
Everyone was very curious about what business Qin Yi had done to make so much money. They guessed the car must cost over 100,000 yuan. A few close neighbors directly asked with a smile, "Great job, Xiao Yi! You must have made a lot of money. What kind of business are you in?"
"For the past two years, I've been working on high-tech farming with my college classmates. This year, it has been profitable, and we've made a lot of money. Now, I plan to go abroad with my classmates to lease a farm, where the policies are better," Qin Yi casually made up, and it sounded quite plausible.
But the crowd didn't care if it was true or not; as long as he was making money, that was all that mattered. After a brief chat, everyone left, and Qin Yi followed his parents home. Only then could he take a good look at his new home. The house his parents had built with their hard work, though not yet decorated and looking a bit plain, made Qin Yi feel very comfortable.
No matter how good or bad, it was the best because his parents had done their best for him!
At home, he put his backpack in the room his parents had prepared for him and then went to the living room to find his parents, knowing they had questions to ask. With no one else around, Qin Jun and Li Guilan couldn't hold back and started asking what Qin Yi had done to make so much money. The couple didn't quite believe the story he had just told. Qin Yi's work over the past two years hadn't been like that. Qin Jun was a bit reserved and didn't speak, while Li Guilan usually did the talking.
"Yi, tell me the truth. Where did the money come from?" Li Guilan's voice was stern, and she stared at Qin Yi.
Seeing his mother's serious expression, Qin Yi smiled, knowing his parents were worried about him and feared he might go down the wrong path. Although his parents were uneducated and couldn't articulate profound principles, they had always taught Qin Yi to be honest and not to make money through deceit.
"Don't worry, Mom. You know me. The money was earned honestly. I wouldn't do anything illegal."
Then, Qin Yi told the story of discovering the fruit trees in Shennongjia and selling the fruits, even taking out two fruits for his parents to eat. Of course, he didn't mention selling a single Xueshen for 1 billion yuan, as such a huge amount might turn into a bad thing for people who had been poor all their lives. He decided to gradually change their perception.
Sure enough, after eating the fruits and feeling their effects, his parents believed him to a large extent. Since the money came from selling fruits and was not illegal, Li Guilan and Qin Jun didn't care about the details. They were uneducated and let their son do as he pleased. Feeling relieved, they noticed it was already 2 PM and that their son hadn't eaten. Li Guilan quickly went to make dumplings, and Qin Jun helped with the preparations.
The dumplings were already made, just waiting for their son to return. In the morning, after receiving the call, Li Guilan had gone to the market to buy chives, as her son had always loved chive dumplings. Over the years, every time Qin Yi returned home or left, Li Guilan would make chive dumplings for him. For others, it was just a simple meal, but for Qin Yi, it was a way his parents expressed their love.
While his parents were busy, Qin Yi wandered around the new house. The courtyard was paved with cement, and the outer walls were covered with tiles. Inside, the house was not yet decorated, and the floor was not tiled, just a simple layer of cement. Qin Yi had heard from his parents that they didn't have much money left and planned to decorate the house at the end of the year. Qin Yi was already satisfied with what he saw, not because he had a spirit field space and didn't care about the house, but because his parents had worked hard all their lives to build it, and that was enough!
After a quick tour of the house, the dumplings were ready, and Li Guilan called Qin Yi to eat. Coming downstairs, Qin Yi thought about his parents' gray hair, wrinkled faces, and rough, tree-like hands, feeling a pang of sadness. Back in his room, he entered the space, took out two Xueshen, and returned to the kitchen. He cut them like radishes and placed them in bowls for his parents to eat, to nourish their bodies.
His parents watched curiously, "What is this? It looks like ginseng but is as tender as a radish." Li Guilan was intrigued.
"It's the same as the fruits I just gave you. I dug it up in the mountains. It's very good for the body, and I brought it back specifically for you to eat!" Qin Yi handed the two small bowls to his parents, "Just eat it like this, and then we'll have our meal."
Li Guilan took a piece with chopsticks and tasted it, "It's a bit sweet and crisp, better than a radish. Why only two? You should eat too!" She offered some to Qin Yi.
Qin Jun didn't take it, insisting that his son and wife eat first. Qin Yi knew this was his father's way of expressing his love for the family. In the end, Qin Yi said he had more in his bag and had already eaten, so eating a second one wouldn't be as effective. His parents understood and ate with peace of mind. After eating, they felt rejuvenated, as if they had become younger by a decade.
Qin Yi reminded his parents, "Mom and Dad, don't tell anyone about these white radishes. They are very expensive. Tomorrow, give one to Grandpa, but don't mention it to anyone else!"
Qin Yi's grandmother had passed away last year, and his grandparents had never even met.
"Okay, don't worry," Qin Jun, who didn't speak much, replied.
"Let's go eat, I'm starving."
Qin Yi was about to serve the food but was stopped by Li Guilan. She could take care of herself now and didn't need her son to serve her. Li Guilan had a plan: eat dumplings now, and make stuffed pancakes for dinner, both with chives, which Qin Yi loved and hadn't eaten for half a year. In the end, he ate two large bowls of dumplings, feeling so full he didn't want to move, which made Li Guilan chuckle. After resting for a while, Qin Yi called his parents to his room, took out his backpack, and brought out the 100,000 yuan he had prepared.
Seeing the 100,000 yuan in cash, Li Guilan quickly closed the door to keep it private. Holding the money, she deeply felt that her son had indeed made something of himself. A car was nice, but holding real money in hand felt even better!
"This is 100,000 yuan. Take it and pay off the debts tonight. Now that we have money, we shouldn't owe anyone, and it will prevent people from talking."
Qin Yi then took out two cards from his pocket and handed them over, "Each card has 80,000 yuan. You can buy whatever you want, or use it to decorate the house. You won't have to work outside anymore. We'll decorate the house in the second half of the year. In the future, your son will earn money to support you!"
Qin Yi didn't give too much, knowing his parents wouldn't accept it, and that even 80,000 yuan would likely be saved for him. He didn't argue, deciding to take it slow. His parents would gradually learn to spend money once they knew he had more.
His parents' eyes welled up, seeing their son grow up and take care of them. But they didn't say much, as rural people were not used to expressing emotions directly.
Seeing the two cards, Li Guilan took them without giving one to Qin Jun, "What would you do with it? You don't need it!" Li Guilan had always been like this, leaving Qin Jun with just enough for his card games.
Qin Jun laughed and didn't mind, knowing it was still their family's money.
After arranging these matters, Qin Yi remembered the things he had bought for his parents and that Lai Pi was still in the car. He had been busy with questions and fruits and hadn't taken care of it. He took out the things and gave them to his parents, seeing their happy faces, which made him very satisfied. Watching his parents take the things into the house, Qin Yi carried Lai Pi out and let it run around.
Li Guilan and Qin Jun put the things down and came out, ready to try on the clothes later. They hadn't seen their son for half a year and wanted to talk more. Lai Pi ran around for a bit but soon got bored, as the cement ground wasn't interesting. It came back to Qin Yi, wanting some food or drink. Qin Yi told Lai Pi to wait in the courtyard, went back to his room to get two fruits, and came out to see Li Guilan playing with Lai Pi.
Seeing the fruits, Lai Pi stopped playing and ran over eagerly.
Li Guilan, seeing her son feed the rabbit with the valuable fruits, didn't say anything. In their family, they treated the animals well. She remembered how they used to feed their cat an egg every day, better than what they ate themselves...
"Is this what you brought back? It's very smart. I thought it was someone else's pet," Li Guilan said, liking Lai Pi.
"I've been raising it for a few days. Its name is Lai Pi."
Li Guilan laughed, "What a name you gave it!"
Qin Yi thought the name was fitting: "It follows me around, begging for food. The name suits it."
Li Guilan smiled and didn't say more, not really caring about the name. After Lai Pi finished eating, Li Guilan called it over to play.
Qin Yi told his parents about his plan to buy a farm in the U.S. Li Guilan didn't say much, "Do you have enough money? If not, you can keep the two cards and deal with the house later."
"I have enough. I have a lot more money, so don't worry about it."
Hearing this, Li Guilan knew she couldn't help and just reminded him to be careful when traveling.
