After being a commoner for several decades, the sports car that Andy could only dream of owning now stood before him, and not just one, but two supercars that were entirely his. Andy was so excited that his face turned red, his breathing quickened, and his fingers trembled as he caressed them. For a man, a sports car is like a luxury handbag for a woman.
The silver-gray Porsche Carrera GT is a rare and valuable supercar, with a unique design and outstanding performance, specifically crafted for those who seek ultimate speed and the best handling. Its ultra-lightweight and high-tech design place the Carrera GT among the top-tier cars. The powerful 5.7-liter, 10-cylinder, 605-horsepower engine can accelerate the Carrera GT from 0 to 200 km/h in just 10 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 330 km/h.
The bright red Ferrari F430 is equipped with a new, lightweight and compact 4,308 ml engine, providing 490 hp, with a power output of 114 hp/l and a torque of 465 Nm. It boasts exceptional performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds, with a top speed of 315 km/h.
Although Andy was an experienced driver, it was his first time driving a sports car, and he needed to get familiar with it. Andy took out the Ferrari's key, sat down excitedly, and watched as the garage door slowly rose. He started the engine with a thrill, and the car slowly drove out of the garage. The roar of the engine brought another wave of excitement.
In both the United States and China, the steering wheel is on the left, and vehicles drive on the right, so these aspects were the same. The main focus was on getting familiar with and controlling the sports car.
The sports car slowly drove out of the villa and onto the road. A surge of passion suddenly arose, and with a roar and a strong push from the back, it shot forward like an arrow, speeding ahead.
Andy let out a few excited shouts. Soon, the traffic on the road increased, and his excitement subsided, causing the speed of the sports car to slow down.
Looking out the window, he sighed at the familiar yet strange city. Los Angeles is a city of stars, filled with the hustle and bustle of the secular world, and a restless and uneasy atmosphere.
In April, the streets of Los Angeles are lined with dense purple-flowered trees, like purple mist. The petals fall with the wind, covering the streets, looking like a recent blue-purple rain, no less romantic than cherry blossoms...
Having already set the destination with GPS, Andy arrived at the entrance of the SLS Hotel. As soon as he turned off the engine and got out of the car, a doorman approached with a smile, "Hello, sir, welcome to the SLS Hotel."
Looking at the doorman who took the car keys, Andy nodded slightly, "Thank you."
The SLS Hotel's Tres afternoon tea is known as the most luxurious afternoon tea. Under the guidance of a waiter, he found a quiet corner.
"Sir, here is the menu," the waiter, with a straight posture and a smile, handed the menu with both hands.
Andy, who had done his homework at home, quickly browsed the menu and said, "I'll have a latte first."
"Sure, sir, please wait a moment," the waiter closed his notebook and turned to leave.
Andy looked at the menu, giving it a general browse. The prices were not expensive. On the way, he had thought about indulging in a little luxury, trying a cup of Blue Mountain coffee, but later decided that what suited him best was the best.
When he was a tech enthusiast, his favorite coffee was a latte. A latte is a blend of espresso and milk. People who like lattes might prefer the milk more than the coffee.
Soon, the waiter brought a latte, still with that smile, making him feel like he was basking in a warm breeze, "Sir, your coffee."
"Thank you." Taking the coffee, Andy picked up the menu he had just closed and said, "A piece of wagyu beef, medium-rare, caviar with tomato, red beet macarons with goat cheese and avocado sauce, and a lobster. For dessert, I'll have a pink lemonade fruit tart. That's all."
After saying that, he closed the menu and handed it back to the waiter. Watching the waiter leave, Andy took a sip of the coffee, savoring the familiar yet purer taste. He took out his phone, read all the messages, and replied to a few from his parents. In his contacts, he found the number of his lawyer, Nelson.
Nelson, the lawyer, was one of the heads of the Los Angeles branch of Andy's father's law firm and also Andy's personal lawyer.
In the United States, almost everyone has to deal with two types of people: lawyers and doctors.
The call connected.
"Hello, Nelson," Andy adjusted his posture and asked softly.
"Hello, Andy, how can I assist you?"
Hearing the relaxed tone on the other end, Andy imagined a man in his forties, dressed formally in a well-tailored suit, with neatly combed back hair and clear, eagle-like eyes, a face with sharp features, and a professional demeanor that gave a sense of reassurance, like someone very trustworthy.
"I need to take out a loan from the bank using my house and copyright as collateral."
"Wow, that's a lot of money! I need to check the bank's interest rates and contact your accountant, Cole, to assess your property and book copyrights."
Hearing the response, Andy smiled and said, "Leave it to you, as soon as possible."
"Sure, boss, I'll take care of it quickly."
Hanging up the phone, Andy shook his head and laughed. Indeed, in the world of money, the one with money is the boss, and the one without is just Andy. They wouldn't ask the reason, as long as the client could pay the bill.
The dishes were served, and Andy took a bite. The taste was indeed good, very refined, but the portions were small, almost like feeding a cat. But this was just the appetizer.
As more dishes were brought out, caviar, cheese, wagyu beef, and lobster, Andy devoured them like a locust, not caring about his table manners.
Becoming a millionaire overnight from a tech enthusiast, everything felt like a dream. Even with the soul fusion, adapting to all aspects of this new life wasn't something that could be achieved overnight. He still had a long way to go.
After eating and drinking his fill, Andy paid the bill, which the waiter looked at in a daze. He took the bill, glanced at it, and got up to leave, muttering, "The tip is really 20% of the bill." He realized he needed to carry more loose change in the future.
As he took the car keys from the doorman and gave him a $20 tip, he drove away, feeling the doorman's grateful and envious gaze.
Checking the time, it was already past three. The housekeeping staff should have cleaned his villa by now. Looking at the busy traffic and the bustling crowds, he felt a wave of loneliness.
Would his parents in China be too sad? Would his girlfriend cry for him?
Sighing, his vision began to blur. "Beep!" The sharp sound of a car horn snapped him back to reality, and he could faintly hear some cursing. Calming down, he realized his car had stopped on the road, and there were already a dozen cars behind him.
"Vroom vroom!"
He stepped on the gas a few times, and the roar of the sports car drew the attention of passersby. The Ferrari shot forward like an arrow.
Back home, looking at the clean and tidy living room, the dejected Andy slumped onto the sofa, thinking of his parents and his nagging girlfriend from his past life, tears streaming down his face.
After crying himself to sleep, Andy sat up groggily from the sofa. Through the floor-to-ceiling window, he saw that it was already dark outside. Rubbing his eyes, he checked his watch; it was already 7:30 PM. He walked into the bathroom, splashed cold water on his face, and looked at the stranger in the mirror.
"No matter how much I think about it, it won't change anything. Song Dawei is dead, and Andy is dead. I am now living for two people, and I must live a colorful life. I won't be a nobody anymore, and I won't be depressed. I can't waste another hundred years of life."
Suppressing the urge to call his family in China, Andy prioritized safety. Suddenly calling someone with no prior connection could raise suspicions from the U.S. government, which could be disastrous, even if the probability was small. His current situation must remain a secret, to be taken to the grave.
