Her legs dragging along the floor, Merle headed for the King’s throne room. Unexpected injuries, body pains, and some cuts that make her mouth taste like blood. It seemed impossible to walk without Succubus supporting her.

Her body was beaten-up. But her heart was full.

She wanted to have a heated battle to call herself the Demon King. That desire to clash with a strong enemy has now been fulfilled.

“Your Majesty, are you alright with your injuries?” Succubus asked.

“Don’t worry,” Merle said. “It’s not lethal but I’d appreciate it if you could continue supporting me.”

“But of course I will,” Succubus said. “I’ve been by Her Majesty’s side the whole time! I’ll be with you no matter what.”

“Thank you.”

Succubus bit her lips as she whined.

Despite being so strong, Merle was injured. She wasn’t afraid to deal with someone with the power of light, her weakness. Even if reinforcements came to her opponents. Merle went on a rampage with her magic sword in hand and won.

Not to mention Succubus wholeheartedly believed that Merle was the next Demon King. She was sure this person could lead the demons to a peaceful world. She would conquer the humans and bring prosperity to the demons.

And if possible, she wanted to be right next to her. Whatever happens, until the end of time, she wanted to see that face beside her.

There was no one to greet the two as they made their way to the King.

The castle had become an empty shell. There were no humans around and the carpet was ruffled up, probably because they fled in a hurry. Even the crown was laying in front of the throne as if it had been abandoned.

“There’s no one here…?” Merle asked.

“I believe they saw the previous battle and realized they had no chance of winning,” Levantine said. “Perhaps there is no one stronger than the man you fought earlier.”

“To abandon the castle and the city so easily, what a terrible king,” Merle said. “Succubus, can you seat me on the throne?”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Merle sat on the throne and stared at the space before her. The city is no longer under the King’s control. From here on out, it was the Demon King’s castle.

“Succubus.”

“Yes, Your Majesty?”

“Raise the flag. That skull flag. This city—from today, this is our Demon Castle.”

“At once, Your Majesty.”

With the flag in hand, Succubus flew out the window, knocked down the King’s flag at the top, and raised the Demon’s flag instead. Staring down at the city below, the city is quite large; with such a territory, the demons would surely prosper.

Succubus almost teared up. She saw the prosperity of the demons who had been driven to hiding. Now they’re making steady progress to reality.

"

"

This is just the beginning. But it’s a big step.

Succubus chewed her lip as she looked down at the city, feeling the wind blowing by. The city now in the hands of Demon King Merle.

Originally she was just a small-town girl. Her only achievement was that she pulled out the magic sword. As she is sitting on the throne injured and exhausted, she doesn’t seem like the Demon King. Her clothes are torn, her hair is a mess, there is dirt on her face.

Fast asleep, her face looks like any other girl’s.
