“Pfft.”
There’s a squirrel. Her cheeks are puffed out and she looks like she’s angry.
Big triangular ears and a bushy tail. This is not a squirrel but a fox. It’s Ouka-chan.
“What are you so angry about?”
“Because ……”
Sl*ve Ouka’s duty is to be my friend.
The contract expires in one year.
Food and clothing are provided. The reward is 30 pieces of silver (paid in advance).
“Simple enough, right?”
“I am a sl*ve to serve my master. A sl*ve is a servant to his master.”
“uh-huh”
“And yet I – I’m just saying that I was bought by 30 silver pieces!”
Ouka shouts, waving her arms around.
“You don’t want to disturb the neighbors.”
“There’s no such thing as a neighbours! This is the forest!”
Currently, me and Ouka are walking through the forest.
The adventurer’s city of Solly is surrounded by a forest. The vicinity of the city is managed, but we come further back than that.
As for the time, it’s about 9:00 or 10:00 PM. In our world, it would be “Moonlight Hours of the Tower”.
“Well, matching the numbers is not the wrong way to describe it.”
I told Ouka that I wanted her to join me.
It’s a grating word, but I guess everyone has their own way of perceiving it.
I don’t know how Ouka sees it, but the companionship I’m referring to is “temporary”.
“I’ve never heard of a guild promotion test with more than two people in it either!”
“It’s okay. I just heard about it a few weeks ago myself.”
“That’s not the point!”
Her arms are swinging even harder.
The guild is an organization that mediates requests from the general public to adventurers by dividing them into levels of difficulty.
There are six levels of difficulty, starting with A-rank and ending with F-rank.
“F-rank is a job for new adventurers to get used to the adventurer’s job. When you complete a certain amount of work, it will automatically become E rank. From here, you will be asked to take out monsters and so on.”
“So you need a certain amount of results and a promotion test to move up to a D grade from there?”
“The requirement for the test is ‘at least one person must be registered in the [Bonds list] – easy, right?”
“However……”
I show Owka my neck.
To be exact, the ’00’ of the [Bonds list] engraved around my neck.
“This world puts a lot of importance on the [Bonds list]. That’s because it’s the only way for humanity to defeat the demon race.”
“Humanity’s bare strength cannot compete with the demon race. …… That’s certainly a memory.”
“It’s the same with guilds. An adventurer must have friends, widen his circle, and fight alongside his allies.”
The guild’s D-rank promotion test has a very loose requirement, and anyone could get through it quickly.
— unless you’re a loner.
“Master, you don’t remember, do you?”
“Hmm? What?”
Ouka lifts up her index finger.
“Slaves don’t get the benefit of the [Bonds list], do they?”
“Yeah, I’m aware of that. I’m quite aware of that.”
“Oh, come on!”
“Are you really a slave?”
Her attitude towards her master is so messy that I’m starting to worry if the contract was really signed.
Or is this what the relationship between the master and the slave in this world is like?
Or maybe it’s an attitude that follows the words “join me”…….
“So?”
“Which one?”
“How come you’re in the woods with all these problems?”
” Oh.”
Apparently, the current situation is not connected in Ouka’s mind.
Well, she does have a fuzzy memory, and she’s not giving out detailed information.
“For now, we’re going to crush some of the restrictions on slaves.”
“–!”
Ouka’s feet stopped.
