Chapter 86

Cheng Yang and his companions' strength far surpassed that of ordinary combatants. Chen Yun and the others had all obtained a full set of Black Iron-grade equipment, and although Bronze-grade equipment was not abundant, each of them had one or two pieces. If it weren't for the fact that the territory guards could not be taken out of the territory, Cheng Yang would have been absolutely confident that the five of them could flatten the main city of Xiangcheng.

"Let's eliminate the other lesser demons first, and then we'll make a long-term plan," Cheng Yang instructed immediately.

Chen Yun and the other four had no objections. These demons, whose highest strength was at the peak of the first stage, posed no significant challenge to them. When they were still high-level apprentices, they had once fought and killed a peak first-stage lesser demon individually.

Subsequent battles confirmed this. The ordinary lesser demons in each small courtyard were quickly dealt with by Cheng Yang and his companions. Even the peak first-stage lesser demon they encountered before entering the next checkpoint was taken down in just one round with their combined efforts.

In less than ten minutes, they had already pushed to the final prayer hall of the Blood Church. By then, they had already obtained two decent pieces of equipment, both of which were Silver-grade.

It seems that the first run of this Nightmare difficulty instance indeed brought great rewards.

Wise Man's Necklace: Silver-grade jewelry, increases magic attack by 4 points. Can be equipped by combatants of apprentice level or higher. Durability: 100/100.

Tree Elf Bow: Silver-grade weapon, increases physical attack by 6 points. Can be equipped by combatants of apprentice level or higher. Durability: 100/100.

Naturally, Cheng Yang took the Wise Man's Necklace, increasing his attack by 2 points. As for the Tree Elf Bow, it undoubtedly went to Xu Wu, the only archer in the group. This Tree Elf Bow had 3 more points of attack power than the Black Iron-grade longbow he currently had, making it a very powerful piece of equipment.

Looking at the prayer hall before him, Cheng Yang felt a bit nervous.

In his previous life, Cheng Yang had also come to the Nightmare difficulty Blood Church instance, but at that time, he was just a minor player. In that battle, he fully recognized the power of second-stage demons. Moreover, this lesser demon leader was not an ordinary leader; it had a BOSS template.

"Chen Yun, can you withstand this lesser demon's attack?" Cheng Yang asked softly to Chen Yun beside him.

Chen Yun replied, "This lesser demon is a physical attacker. My current physical defense is 17 points without any equipment. With Zeng Yue's priest skill buff, my defense can reach 18 points. In areas where I wear defensive equipment, my defense is at least 20 points. The lesser demon's attack can deal a maximum of 60 points of damage to me. With my health, I can withstand up to five attacks. However, this is assuming I get hit. Moreover, with health potions and Zeng Yue's healing skills, I should be able to hold out. Besides, with my combat skills, even if the lesser demon is at the early second stage, it will be difficult to knock me down."

Cheng Yang nodded immediately after hearing this, trusting what Chen Yun said.

"Alright, Cao Cun's summoned creature will go in to lure the monster. Then you will charge and stun it. I'll save my freezing spell for emergencies. The entire battle will be about holding out," Cheng Yang instructed. "Cao Cun, pay attention to your summoned creature. Summon it first, and once the skill cooldown is over, start the battle."

Cao Cun nodded quickly, then waved his wooden staff, and a robust spectral wolf appeared before them. This peak first-stage spectral wolf was much larger than the ones summoned by other summoners in the past.

At the same time, Zeng Yue also cast the Angelic Inspiration status on Cao Cun. As for Cheng Yang and the others, they had already been buffed with this status in previous battles. The ten-minute cooldown time meant that this status would not disappear so quickly.

One minute after the spectral wolf appeared, Cao Cun immediately directed it to charge towards the prayer hall's entrance. In the blink of an eye, the spectral wolf reached the entrance, and a deafening roar echoed from inside the hall, followed by a slight tremor throughout the instance.

"Prepare for battle!" Cheng Yang shouted. As he finished speaking, a lesser demon over two meters tall rushed out of the hall.

Chen Yun immediately moved, raising his shield in front of him and charging forward like a meteor, straight towards the lesser demon that had just emerged from the hall.

Although the lesser demon was powerful, at Chen Yun's 300% speed, it didn't have time to react before being hit. Its originally intimidating movements suddenly softened, as if it had fallen into a deep sleep.

The others didn't idle. As Chen Yun moved, they also launched their attacks on the lesser demon leader, including the spectral wolf acting as bait. At the same time, Zeng Yue's Holy Guardian skill was cast, increasing Chen Yun's defense.

A single round of attacks took away over 150 points of the spectral wolf's health, as this round only involved Cheng Yang, Cao Cun, and Xu Wu dealing damage to the lesser demon leader.

One second later, the lesser demon recovered from the stun, and in a fit of rage, it ignored other targets and raised its short spear to stab Chen Yun, who stood directly in front of it.

Chen Yun had anticipated the lesser demon's move. He thrust his shield forward, and at the moment the spear and shield met, he pulled the shield back with a specific rhythm, dissipating the force and avoiding being knocked back.

This was not a skill but a combat technique. For future shield warriors to stand their ground, mastering the technique of dissipating force was essential, as it determined whether they could serve as the tank in a group. If a warrior was knocked back every time they encountered an attacker with higher power, they would be of no use.

The lesser demon's attack failed, and it immediately raised its short spear to stab Chen Yun's shoulder from the side, clearly harboring resentment towards him and forgetting the more threatening spectral wolf on its left. As for Cheng Yang and the others, who had caused more damage to the lesser demon, they were completely ignored.

Chen Yun's movements were slightly slower than the lesser demon leader's. He had just raised his shield to block the attack, which looked easy but was actually quite strenuous on his arm. He had no way to dodge the horizontal spear thrust.

"Thud..." The short spear pierced Chen Yun's left shoulder, causing him to wince in pain. However, under the rules of the world, the lesser demon's sharp spear only dealt 59 points of damage to Chen Yun, without breaking his arm.

At the same time, Cheng Yang and the others launched their attacks again, and Chen Yun's counterattack also began. In that instant, the lesser demon leader lost over 200 points of health.

The lesser demon's counterattack followed, but this time its target was not Chen Yun but the spectral wolf beside him.

Taking advantage of this gap, Zeng Yue used the Healing Light to instantly restore Chen Yun's health to full, then began to buff the others with the Holy Guardian status.

After five rounds of attacks, the spectral wolf summoned by Xu Wu died, and the lesser demon leader had lost nearly a thousand points of health under the attacks of Cheng Yang and the others. Including the previous two rounds of attacks, the lesser demon leader's health had already decreased by a quarter.

However, the moment the spectral wolf died, the lesser demon leader lost its primary target and immediately fixed its sinister gaze on Cheng Yang, who had caused the most damage among the group.

Chen Yun, with his rich combat experience, immediately noticed the lesser demon's intention. He moved quickly, appearing in front of the lesser demon leader and slashing at its waist with his steel sword.

Even after taking a hit, the lesser demon leader did not change its mind. It leaned to the side, trying to bypass Chen Yun and chase after Cheng Yang.

But how could Chen Yun be so easily bypassed? As a territory guard summoned from the Guardian Hall with SS-grade talent, Chen Yun was a combat genius. As soon as the lesser demon made its move, he exerted force with his feet and blocked the lesser demon again. However, his attack had not yet retracted, so he couldn't slash the lesser demon leader again.

Taking advantage of the moment when the lesser demon leader was entangled with Chen Yun, Cheng Yang and the others continued their frenzied attacks.

The lesser demon leader realized that if he didn't kick this guy away, it would be difficult to get past and attack the annoying flies behind.

Raising its short spear, the lesser demon leader used a powerful downward strike aimed at Chen Yun's head, the spear glowing with a strange light.

Seeing this, Chen Yun immediately knew that this move was not a simple attack but a heavy strike with a stunning effect. Knowing this, he still found it extremely difficult to dodge. He quickly raised his left hand, blocking the spear with his shield, preparing to take the hit.

"Clang..." A loud metallic sound echoed in everyone's ears, lingering for a long time.

Chen Yun, the one hit by the spear, was completely stunned. The lesser demon leader's move was indeed not a regular attack but a heavy strike with a stunning effect.

The lesser demon leader seemed to sneer, giving Chen Yun a disdainful look, then swept its short spear horizontally, as if trying to sweep away this obstacle.

If Chen Yun was hit, he would undoubtedly be knocked back. When he returned to the battlefield, the defensive line he had set up would be completely disrupted. It would be difficult to control the lesser demon leader at the hall entrance.

At this moment, Cheng Yang moved instantly, a cold light enveloping the lesser demon leader, and the temperature of the entire space seemed to drop, freezing the lesser demon leader in place.

For two seconds, Cheng Yang and the others did not idle, unleashing their maximum damage on the frozen lesser demon leader.

Chen Yun woke up almost simultaneously with the lesser demon leader. The moment they both regained consciousness, they immediately launched a full attack on each other.
