Pity his misfortune, anger at his lack of struggle!
This was Yang Bo's attitude towards his elder brother. It had been seven or eight years since he graduated from vocational school, and over these years, Yang Lang had never had a proper job, always hanging around and even asking the family for living expenses!
Yang Bo remembered very clearly that in his senior year of high school, Yang Lang had stolen two hundred yuan from home to treat his shady friends to a meal, and at that time, Yang Lang was already twenty-four years old! In an era where jobs were abundant and even dishwashing could earn two thousand yuan a month, Yang Lang, unable to get money from home, actually stole two hundred yuan!
Yang Bo looked down on Yang Lang. Even though he was his elder brother, he couldn't just give him money for no reason; doing so would only encourage his lazy and unproductive mindset! Moreover, Yang Lang had used the money for their father's medical treatment to gamble, which completely crossed his line!
When Yang Father heard Yang Bo's words, he was stunned for a moment, then waved his hand, "Forget it, forget it. I can't control what happens in the future. As the saying goes, you reap what you sow. What achievements you and your brother will have in the future depends entirely on your own efforts!"
Yang Lang stood to the side, listening to his younger brother's accusations without a word. It wasn't until his father spoke that he shook his head, "I don't need you to worry about me!"
"Where are you going!" Yang Bo shouted.
"It's none of your business!" Yang Lang replied.
"You can't leave! You need to go to the hospital to take care of Father!" Yang Bo took a few steps forward, trying to stop him.
Yang Lang paused, then turned and walked out without another word!
"Yang Lang, if you leave this house, don't ever come back!" Yang Father shouted loudly. He had seen that his younger son could earn so much money in such a short time and would surely succeed in the future. If his elder son followed, there might be a chance for him to reform!
Yang Lang didn't stop, his footsteps gradually fading away in the hallway!
Yang Mother, hearing the shouting, ran out and, seeing Yang Lang leave, couldn't help but complain to Yang Father, "Why did you shout at him!"
"It's all your spoiling that has made him this way!" Yang Father coldly snorted.
...
This time, Yang Bo didn't skimp on expenses. The three of them directly took a taxi to the provincial people's hospital, which cost five hundred yuan, something Yang Bo would never have done before.
When Yang Mother got in the car, she kept nagging, "It's too expensive, it's such a waste. There are many places where we need to spend money, Xiao Bo, you have to be careful with your spending!"
Yang Bo could only nod in agreement.
By the time they arrived at the provincial people's hospital, it was already noon. Yang Bo took his parents to a restaurant and ordered some dishes. He didn't even have time to eat, "Mom, Dad, you eat first. I'll go to the hospital to check the situation. It's probably too late to register now, I'll go see what's going on!"
"Xiao Bo, eat something first. There's no rush. They won't be working right now!" Yang Father said.
"No, I ate a lot this morning. I'm not hungry. I'll go check the situation first. If we can't register today, we won't queue up in the afternoon," Yang Bo said.
Yang Bo hurriedly left. As he passed a nearby supermarket, he hesitated for a moment, then went in to buy a loaf of bread and a bottle of water, and anxiously headed to the hospital.
When he arrived, the hospital staff were on break, and there was no one at the registration desk. He searched for a while and finally found a doctor in a white coat. He quickly approached, "Excuse me, when does the registration start in the afternoon?"
"It starts at 1:30. What's the illness? Has it been diagnosed?" the doctor asked warmly.
"It's early-stage liver cancer," Yang Bo said.
The doctor pondered for a moment, "This needs to be treated as soon as possible. However, the expert appointments at the hospital need to be booked a day or two in advance. You can only register for tomorrow or the day after."
"Ah?" Yang Bo was shocked. He hadn't expected the expert appointments to be booked so far in advance. "Thank you!"
The doctor nodded and left. Yang Bo was at a loss for a moment.
After some thought, he called Luo Yaohua and explained his situation.
Luo Yaohua understood Yang Bo's situation and immediately agreed without hesitation.
In the afternoon, Luo Yaohua arranged for a nurse to help Yang Bo with the procedures, took Yang Father to see the expert, and completed various tests. By the time they finished the hospital admission procedures, it was already past five in the evening.
Yang Bo was very grateful to the nurse who helped him and offered to treat her to a meal, but she declined. In the end, he had to force a red envelope on her.
Considering that he would need to stay for a long time, it was too late to rent a place, so Yang Bo booked a standard room at a nearby small hotel, allowing his mother and him to take turns resting.
When Yang Mother learned that Yang Bo had booked a room, she complained again, "I can sleep on the floor here. Didn't you have a place to sleep before?"
Yang Bo had never told his parents about his situation in Jinling, so they didn't know he had been sleeping on a folding bed for two years. He explained, "I might be quitting my job soon, and it won't be convenient to stay there. I'll rent a place tomorrow, which will make it easier to cook and be more convenient!"
"Ah? You're quitting?" Yang Mother was shocked, "If you quit, how will you earn the money for your father's medical expenses?"
"Mom, don't worry, I can earn it!" Yang Bo reassured her.
Yang Father, lying in the hospital bed, said, "He's grown up, let him be."
Yang Mother sighed and didn't say anything more.
Despite not having slept much the previous night and being exhausted from a full day of work, Yang Bo still let his mother go to the hotel to rest and stayed at the hospital to take care of his father.
The night passed quietly. Yang Bo fell asleep leaning on the bed. When Yang Mother brought breakfast, she made him go back to the hotel to rest.
Yang Bo returned to the hotel room, washed up, and lay down on the bed. He closed his eyes but couldn't fall asleep.
Thinking about the missed calls on his phone and the fact that he hadn't resigned from Gu De Zhai, Yang Bo got up, dressed, and took the bus to Gu De Zhai. He had already been absent for two days, and Gu Bapi would surely be worried.
At that moment, Gu Bapi was indeed sitting in the store. Seeing Li Ling standing outside the door, he shouted, "Li Ling, what are you doing?"
Li Ling stood outside the door, somewhat timidly, "Nothing, I just wanted to see if Da Bo has come back."
"Hmph!" Gu Bapi snorted and then angrily said, "That damn brat hasn't shown up for two days. When he comes back, I'll fire him!"
Li Ling tried to help, "Boss, you know Da Bo's situation. He hasn't been home for two years. Maybe he went back to visit his family!"
"Back home? Back home and can't even make a phone call? His home is in the mountains!" Gu Bapi said angrily.
