"Magic mirror, magic mirror, who is the beauty whose face is more radiant than a hundred flowers, whose black hair is deeper than the night sky, and whose demeanor is more virtuous than a scholar?"
In a dimly lit room, a girl with her long black hair braided into a thick plait slanted across her chest sat in front of a dressing table. By the dim candlelight, she asked the mirror before her.
The mirror reflected the girl's face, with her long black bangs covering her forehead, giving her a rather gloomy demeanor. Beneath the bangs, oversized black-rimmed glasses obscured most of her face. In the dark room, it was hard to discern her appearance, but from the glimpse of her bright, full lips and smooth, delicate chin, she seemed to be a beauty.
In the next moment, the girl in the mirror opened her red lips.
"It's me, Dorothy."
However, the door to the room suddenly opened, and bright sunlight burst in, piercing the darkness and making the girl by the mirror close her eyes for a moment, unable to adjust.
"Big sister, why are you doing this again?"
A golden-haired beauty with a face as radiant as the sun appeared at the door, hands on her hips. She first looked at the black-haired girl at the dressing table with a hint of exasperation, then quickly walked in, pulled open the curtains, and opened the windows.
More light mercilessly flooded the room, illuminating everything and completely destroying the dark atmosphere Dorothy had painstakingly created.
"No, Alice, my power, my power is fading! You are truly a wicked step-sister. You and your evil mother came to this house to take away what should have been mine."
The bright sunlight finally revealed Dorothy's pale, almost white skin. She shielded her eyes from the blinding light and glared fiercely at the golden-haired girl who had approached her.
This was her nominal younger sister, Alice, brought into the family by her stepmother. Because of this hateful mother and daughter, Dorothy's once peaceful and happy life had been ruthlessly shattered.
Thinking of this, Dorothy shivered with anger, and even the bright sunlight outside could not warm her.
Well, patience, the tide of fortune can turn, and one should not underestimate a poor girl...
"Enough, big sister. Father is just a poor mage, and you and he are in-laws. You don't have any property. Here, this is the allowance for this month that Mother gave me to bring to you."
The golden-haired girl, Alice, mercilessly interrupted her sister's rant. She looked at her sister, who was acting out again, with a hint of exasperation, then pulled out a thick envelope from her flat chest and waved it in front of Dorothy.
"Do you want it or not?"
"Yes."
Dorothy stood up without any dignity and quickly took the envelope from her sister, but her brows furrowed as soon as she held it.
"Why is it so thick?"
Although her stepmother was indeed wealthy, she was strict with their allowances. The amount given to her and her sister was not small, but it was not excessive, enough for daily expenses but not for extravagant spending.
However, this time the envelope was several times thicker than usual, which made Dorothy very pleased.
Could it be that Mother has finally come to her senses and realized that a daughter needs to be raised in luxury, so she decided to increase my allowance?
"Don't get your hopes up, big sister. This is just money for buying school supplies. After all, you'll be a part of the Witch Academy starting tomorrow. Hurry up and pack; Mother asked me to take you to the market for a big shopping trip later."
Alice, who knew her sister all too well, saw her sister's drooling face and immediately shattered her illusions.
"Oh, I see. Alright, wait for me a moment."
Dorothy's face fell as her beautiful fantasy was shattered, and she lowered her head in disappointment.
However, she was somewhat dazed by her sister's words.
"A witch? Yes, I will be a witch starting tomorrow. Time flies, sixteen years have passed."
Dorothy murmured to herself.
In her heart, she had a secret: she was not from this world but a穿越者 (穿越者 means "穿越者" in Chinese, which translates to "穿越者" in English, but in this context, it means "a person who has traveled through time or dimensions") from another world.
In her previous life, she had died tragically while trying to save a little girl, hit by a truck. In her dying moments, she heard the voice of a god, who asked her if she had any unfulfilled wishes.
As a lifelong bachelor, her final wish was to have a young, beautiful, compatible, and loyal girlfriend.
The generous god granted her wish, but in a rather unique way.
However, Dorothy had no complaints about the whimsical god, after all...
Yes, I am now truly beautiful. The me in the mirror is my ideal type. I've decided, from now on, I will be my own girlfriend.
She now had this kind of playful and joyful mindset, as if she were raising a female character in a game.
However, this reborn world was quite different from her previous one. It was no longer a technology-dominated blue world but a more fantastical magical world where many legends from her previous life had become reality, such as the witches her sister Alice had just mentioned.
The term "witch" was not a positive one in her previous world, representing countless girls persecuted by fanatical religious movements.
In this new world, however, it truly represented a race, a race of innate powerful spellcasters, the elite among the already elite mage class.
Long lifespans, powerful magic, and eternal beauty—these things that other races could only dream of, witches possessed from birth. They could freely cast spells, easily command powerful familiars in battle, and even without magic, their basic physical attributes were enough to match seasoned warriors in combat, making them a race with god-like abilities.
Such a powerful race could not be easily persecuted as in her previous world. In fact, in the distant past, when witches had not yet risen to power, a church had once initiated a witch hunt. However, the hunt did not last long before the enraged witches attacked heaven, stripped the feathers of the powerful angel known as the Lord of Light, and took them back to make pillows.
Witches, this was the ruling race of this world.
This world was a magical world where witch civilization flourished unprecedentedly.
And she, Dorothy, was about to become a new member of this powerful race.
"This is truly an exciting new life."
Dorothy lifted her head, looked at the unfamiliar yet familiar face in the mirror, and a smile curved her lips.
