"First, who should I hear from?"
In the room, there were three of us: Orabus, Varak, and myself.
I had asked Crossel to step out.
Incidentally, when I asked Crossel to step out,
"Whaaat? I want to be with Master Norman too, why are you excluding me?"
she pouted.
"Well, I need Crossel to go and replenish the food supplies,"
I told her, and she said, "If that's the case, I have no choice," and left.
The household chores in this house are quite dependent on the demons.
"I think we should hear from Varak first."
Why did Varak try to kill me? That seems to be the more important topic.
By the way, I haven't told Orabus about Varak's attempt to kill me.
So, I thought it might not be a good idea to spread this around, and considered asking Orabus to step out as well, but considering the possibility that Varak still has murderous intentions, I decided to keep Orabus around just in case.
If Varak were to attack, having Orabus here would be reassuring.
"So, why did Varak try to kill me?"
"What!? This little girl tried to kill my Master!? That's a grave crime! Even if Master forgives her, I won't! I will immediately sentence this little girl to the ultimate punishment!"
Orabus got all fired up.
Maybe it was a mistake to have Orabus here.
Varak, saying "Higu," with tears in her eyes, cowered.
It's natural to cry when Orabus, who can blow up a lava rock dragon, threatens you with the ultimate punishment.
"Orabus, be quiet for a moment."
"Hai, I will remain silent until Master gives me permission to speak!"
Orabus stood straight and silent.
You don't have to hold your breath, you know.
"I don't intend to sentence her to the ultimate punishment, so can you tell me why?"
I spoke to Varak in a gentle, reassuring tone.
"Because... Master Norman took Crossel from me..."
Took?
I don't remember taking Crossel from her.
"Varak was so fond of the cute Crossel, and after Master Norman summoned her, Crossel never came back to the demon world. So, I thought if I killed Master Norman, Crossel would be mine again!"
So, in other words...
"Varak likes Crossel?"
"It's not that I like her... I just want to admire the cute Crossel!"
"I think Varak is cute too, you know."
So, why don't you look at your own face in the mirror and admire it? I thought.
But that might be a bit too extreme.
"Varak knows she's cute!"
Varak, blushing, took a step back.
Did I do something that made her wary?
"Anyway, I don't want to die for such a reason. So, do you still have murderous intentions towards me?"
"I have no intention of killing you anymore."
Varak said this while looking at Orabus.
If Varak had declared she would kill me, Orabus wouldn't have stayed silent, so she couldn't have said that.
"But, you still want to be with Crossel, right?"
"Yes, but..."
"Then, we should try to find a compromise."
If we keep separating Varak and Crossel, Varak's dissatisfaction might build up again, and she might think about killing me again.
So, it would be best to find a way to prevent that.
"I have one request."
"Hmm? What is it?"
"I want Varak to be summoned all the time."
"True, that way she can be with Crossel."
But, the maximum number of demons that can be summoned is three.
Considering Fokarol, who is not currently in the demon world, it's not possible to meet everyone's wishes.
We need to come up with some kind of solution.
"We'll discuss that later, with Crossel included."
Putting the complicated matter aside, I moved on to the next topic.
"Orabus, you can speak now."
"Hai, I have permission to speak!"
Orabus, who had been silent, finally spoke.
"So, where were you, Orabus?"
When I asked, Orabus was looking around nervously, sweating.
It's the reaction of someone who has something to hide.
"Did you get lost and couldn't find your way back?"
"Yes, that's right! I tried to come back, but I got lost!"
I thought, that's not good, I must have done something to Orabus.
"She was near the house."
Varak said this quietly.
"Really?"
"No, I was lost and couldn't find my way!"
"Varak, your tracking skills are perfect! So, I knew Orabus was near the house the whole time! I was wondering why Master Norman was looking for her!"
"Master! This little girl has a habit of lying! Don't be fooled!"
"Hey, lying habit? That's a bit harsh!"
The two started arguing.
Hmm, who is telling the truth...
I have a pretty good idea, though.
"So, Orabus, why didn't you show up even though you were near the house?"
"Well, I was lost --"
"Orabus, I'm not angry."
When I said this, Orabus hesitated and then said,
"...Yes, I was near the house."
"Then, why didn't you show up?"
"Because I made a big mistake by sleeping during a battle, I didn't know how to face you!"
"I understand how you feel."
Everyone has had a similar experience at least once.
"If Master gives the order, I am prepared to commit seppuku for this failure!"
Orabus is always so dramatic.
"I've told you many times, I'm not angry."
"Oh, I am deeply moved by Master's understanding! I am so glad Master is my Master!"
And with that, Orabus started crying.
Orabus is really dramatic.
Varak, too,
"Ugh, so troublesome."
She looked at Orabus with a bored expression.
"By the way, when the lava rock dragon attacked, why did Orabus show up? Were you nearby?"
"No, I was near the house at that time. When I realized, I was already there..."
"I see."
If that's the case, it's even more mysterious why Orabus was there.
"Probably because of Orabus's ability."
Varak said this.
"Really?"
"I don't remember having such an ability..."
"It doesn't make sense if you don't realize it."
Varak said this in a tone that suggested she was unimpressed.
"Well, it makes sense if it's Orabus's ability."
If I had to guess, it's probably an ability that makes Orabus appear to protect the summoner when they are in danger.
Actually, since I summoned Orabus, it was the first time I felt my life was in danger, so it's not an impossible scenario.
"Changing the subject, a demon named Agreas asked me to pass a message to Orabus."
"Hmm, what message?"
"'Your superior is angry. You should consider coming back.'"
As soon as I said this, sweat started pouring down Orabus's body.
"My Master is the only one! I have no superior!"
Orabus insisted, but it's obvious she's lying.
Orabus's superior.
I don't know what kind of person they are, but it would be good to resolve this issue, though I can't really interfere with the demon world.
While I was thinking about this,
the grimoire 'Gehenna' started shaking.
I accidentally dropped the suddenly shaking 'Gehenna'.
When I looked, 'Gehenna' had stopped on a certain page.
-- Summon me.
It was written on the page.
I was confused by this new phenomenon.
Varak and Orabus also seemed interested and came closer to read it.
"Varak thinks it's interference from the demon world."
Varak said this.
Hmm, is it possible for the demon world to interfere?
But, what does it mean for a demon to want to be summoned?
"Ah!"
Orabus, realizing something, screamed and recoiled.
"Master, please, don't summon that demon!"
From Orabus's reaction,
"Is it your superior?"
Orabus nodded silently.
"Don't worry, Orabus. I won't summon them."
I said this and closed 'Gehenna'.
Orabus said, "Thank you, Master!" and started crying again, seemingly moved.
As long as I don't summon them, Orabus's superior can't interfere with the human world, so there shouldn't be any immediate problems.
