Ritsu, who was standing in an open area of the forest, noticed the long-awaited presence and stood up.

A woman said to the slender man while glaring at him.

“All of you, enough with the chatter.”

A woman dressed in camouflage lightly cautioned the three, while not dropping pace in her step.

“Something’s off. According to reports, the spirit tree should be around this location, but my [Detect] shows nothing.”

“Captain Izumi~ what do we do?”

The slender man asked the woman in the camouflage cloak.

“We continue while keeping alert–

“Are you all from the sanctuary?”

The four from the sanctuary got scared, after hearing Ritsu’s voice come out of nowhere.

“Ah, I didn’t mean to scare you. I’m sorry.”

“Who are you? We came for the spirit tree observation mission.”

Captain Izumi ostensibly pretended to be calm, and asked a question in return.

“Ah, my apologies. It’s been a while since I talked to another human. My name is Yozakura Ritsu.”

Ritsu, who had successfully met the envoys from the sanctuary, was wary at first, but had successfully established a peaceful first contact.

“Does that mean Yozakura-san actually lived outside the sanctuary for 50 years?”

Saijou Haruya, who seemed to have an easygoing atmosphere to him, asked Ritsu suspiciously.

“Yes. I’m sure it sounds unbelievable.”

Ritsu laughed seeing the apprehensive Haruya.

“My name is Tanno Karin. Why couldn’t I sense you using my [Detect]?”

“That’s right, you didn’t show up on Karin-san’s [Detect].”

Saijou followed Tanno, and asked him questioningly.

“That would probably be because of my skill.”

Ritsu thought while keeping his hand on his chin.

“Such a skill…”

Tanno muttered while looking down, perhaps in shock at learning that her skill was easily broken through.

“I am the captain of this team, Izumi. I’d like you to tell me about the spirit tree that was supposed to be here. That’s why we came here in the first place.”

Izumi asked while bowing towards Ritsu.

“Aah, the spirit tree. It transformed into a monster, so I defeated it. I learnt about you all through the tree itself.”

Ritsu answered Izumi’s question, while looking up at the sky.

“Is that, so.”

“I’m late for introductions, but my name is Kuroi Ryou. We had heard the same story from the spirit tree, so we’re glad to know it was defeated.”

“Yes. By the way, How long does it take to reach the sanctuary from here?”

Ritsu tried changing the topic.

“The sanctuary is one week’s travel from here.”

The captain, Izumi, answered while looking up and down at Ritsu.

“Ah, no need to worry. I can protect myself on the way.”

Ritsu answered while pointing at the sword in his hand.

“That said, since the spirit tree’s no more, that means monsters will swarm this place too.”

Saijou said that with an annoyed expression.

“I’m sure everyone must be tired from their journey. Allow me to get you all some food.”

Ritsu started walking off into the forest as he said that.

“Eh, ah, no, we all already carry food supplies with us.”

Izumi showed the food in her hand slightly apologetically.

“I see. Then I’ll bring my own share.”

Saying that, Ritsu disappeared into the forest.

“Captain Izumi, what do you think about that guy?”

After Ritsu went into the forest, the four gathered, and discussed about him.

“He doesn’t seem like an enemy, at the very least. Though I can’t believe he survived out here alone for 50 years.”

“He even slipped out of my [Detect]. I suppose he’s strong isn’t he?”

It seems that having her skill broken through served as quite a shock to Tanno.

“If he’s strong then aren’t we lucky to safely return to the sanctuary? Why’s everyone so serious?”

“If something happens after we bring back our miracle man, it’s going to be our responsibility.”

The four’s talk continued until Ritsu came back.
