In the desolate world of yellow sand, Saen had been living alone for more than a year.
When Saen heard another voice that could converse, it was easy to imagine how excited he was.
Of course, this was on the condition that one ignored the intense pain the voice caused in his mind.
Glancing back at the pitch-black passage he had come from, and realizing he was likely lost in this underground space, Saen decided to follow the voice's guidance and continue deeper into the passage.
The grandeur of the voice also indicated that Saen had no room for compromise or resistance.
Just the voice alone could cause such a significant impact and pain; if that entity intended to harm him, Saen would have already fallen.
After about an hour of walking, Saen arrived at a relatively spacious sand cave.
The surrounding darkness was dispelled.
However, the light was not from sunlight filtering through the sand cracks, but from yellow energy crystals embedded throughout the cave!
These energy crystals exceeded Saen's cognitive limits. At least in his mentor Mosido's laboratory, Saen had not yet seen energy crystals of such quality.
The brilliant yellow light almost blinded Saen's eyes.
A rough count showed that there were dozens of these yellow energy crystals embedded in the cave.
"Do you want these second-grade energy crystals?" The familiar voice appeared again, but this time, it was much softer, and Saen did not feel the intense headache.
Unable to resist, Saen looked towards the source of the voice, and his body stiffened.
It was a giant insect, only half of its body remaining, embedded in a translucent yellow amber.
Although only half of its body remained, its length was still a staggering hundred meters.
The entire cave wall was covered by the coiled body of this crippled giant insect.
The massive fangs and the jagged end of its body were terrifying.
The size and appearance of this creature were chilling, but its voice was surprisingly casual, as if it did not mind giving these precious second-grade energy crystals to Saen.
Faced with the inquiry from what might be the king of all sand insects, Saen lowered his head and fell silent.
In the dark realm, unequal strength meant domination and being dominated; there was no possibility of equal communication.
Saen did not believe he had anything that would make this terrifying sand insect king wary.
Although Saen remained silent, the sand insect king, embedded in the yellow amber, did not stop speaking.
It explained, "Energy crystals are indeed the universal currency of the Astral Plane, and I believe your powerful wizard civilization is no different."
"These second-grade energy crystals are merely the earth element energy that my body emits, eventually condensing into these forms."
"To you, they are invaluable treasures, but to me, they are almost useless."
"From the looks of your life level, it seems you haven't even reached the first grade?" the sand insect king continued.
Saen remained silent.
It was not that he was being aloof, but he genuinely did not know what to say to this creature.
Communication between beings of different life levels could be incredibly difficult.
Their perspectives, ways of viewing things, and methods of thinking were vastly different.
Not to mention second-grade energy crystals; even first-grade energy crystals, Saen had only seen a few times in his mentor's laboratory.
As for the first-grade life level mentioned by the sand insect king, it probably referred to the level of formal black mages like his mentor Mosido.
"What kind of deal did you want me to make?" After a long while, Saen finally spoke.
He did not have the skill to communicate telepathically, so he used the language of the wizard world.
Fortunately, this mysterious insect could understand Saen.
Saen's question was also an attempt to understand his advantages or what he could rely on.
What did this mysterious and powerful insect need from him?
A deal? If it was a deal, there must be something Saen could do.
As a spellcaster, Saen did not want to be at the mercy of others; he at least needed to regain some control.
In response to Saen's question, the insect fell silent for a moment.
After a long while, the insect slowly said, "I am an extraplanar being who entered your wizard world through a spatial rift. In the recognized power levels of the Astral Plane, I belong to the fourth grade."
"Perhaps the guardian of your wizard world had some misunderstanding about me. She drove me away and left me in this broken plane."
"I want to make a deal with you to help me convey my good intentions to your wizard civilization."
"I heard that your wizard civilization has established the Wizard Alliance. Yes, I want to join the Wizard Alliance." The giant insect with only half a body answered.
From the remaining half of its body, it was not hard to guess that the guardian of the wizard world had not been gentle when driving it away.
"As a reward, I can give you all these second-grade energy crystals."
"Moreover, you seem to have been looking for a way back? I can also show you the general area of the spatial passage you came through." The sand insect king said.
This sand insect king had clearly been observing Saen for a long time and knew that he was looking for a way back to the wizard world.
However, the Wizard Alliance and the guardian were beyond Saen's capabilities and knowledge.
He knew a little about the Wizard Alliance from a magic book he had read.
For example, the centaur plane he had read about in a book seemed to be one of the member planes of the Wizard Alliance.
As for the guardian... what kind of existence was it?
Saen had heard two third-grade peak archmages mention it during a battle, but this was far beyond his capabilities.
However, Saen did not remain silent.
The second-grade energy crystals were secondary; what truly attracted him was the sand insect king's offer to show him the general area of the spatial passage, which was crucial for his return to the wizard world!
"How can I help you?" Saen asked.
With Saen's life level not even reaching the first grade, it was clear he could not access many of the wizard world's secrets or high levels.
The sand insect king also seemed to realize this. After a moment of thought, it continued, "You can try to contact a certain tower organization in your wizard world and inform them of my situation."
"As long as a tower master is willing to recommend me, the misunderstanding between me and your wizard civilization, and my joining the Wizard Alliance, will likely be resolved." The sand insect king answered.
