Boom!~

Outside the cave, rocks and ice flew everywhere, the ground shaking continuously as two colossal beasts engaged in a fierce battle.

The body of the Dawn Night Flame Lion was surrounded by a crimson-golden flame, like a halo, scorching the surrounding area with intense heat, causing the ice to rapidly melt and turn into white mist that blended into the cold fog.

How could a warlike golden dragon possibly let such an opponent go? With its body covered in sharp spines, it fought the peak ninth-rank magical beast, its razor-sharp claws and teeth deeply piercing the flames and the Dawn Night Flame Lion's body.

Even as the spines on its body were instantly heated to a red glow and melted into heavy metal droplets that fell to the ground, Su still let out a joyful roar, venting all the resentment he had for the "bastard named Su-27" on this opponent.

In normal circumstances, flying creatures have a natural advantage over ground-dwelling ones. Even though the golden dragon had temporarily lost its ability to fly and was weakened by a vicious curse, it did not fall behind in the battle against the fully capable Dawn Night Flame Lion.

"Roar..."

The Dawn Night Flame Lion's black body seemed to turn into lava, with crimson-red streaks crisscrossing its surface. Golden flames spewed from these crack-like patterns, making the surrounding air increasingly scorching. The dry rocks exposed by the melted snow and ice began to turn a dark red, charred and smoldering.

Even a cornered rabbit will bite, let alone a Dawn Night Flame Lion at the top of the food chain. With the pride of a predator, it fought fiercely against the brutal golden dragon, using its innate flames to melt its opponent and tearing it apart with its claws, never backing down.

The scorched areas on the golden dragon's body sent waves of numbness, and Su seemed to lose control over parts of his body. The high temperature that could melt metal slowed his movements, and even the softened spines, though piercing the opponent's body, could not penetrate deeper.

The numerous, various-sized, ugly curse marks on the dragon's body also suffered from the violent impact of the fire energy. Some of the smaller curse marks, glowing red, gradually faded, unable to withstand the intense heat.

Although being scorched was extremely uncomfortable, Su was mentally exhilarated. Being able to fight and reduce the effects of the curse was a highly profitable deal.

The Dawn Night Flame Lion's body was riddled with wounds, each as large as a human fist, oozing purple-golden blood that burned. Though it was covered in injuries, the actual damage was not as severe as it appeared. However, the peak ninth-rank power of the Dawn Night Flame Lion was also unable to tear apart the golden dragon. The two colossal beasts rolled on the ground, evenly matched.

The ground shook violently as the two massive creatures "rolled around," and Lin Mo, standing a hundred paces away, watched the temperature data on the "Dragon General" helmet's display screen fluctuate.

The highest temperature reached 2175 degrees Celsius, an astonishingly high temperature, and this was just from thermal radiation and air transmission.

Even from such a distance, the intense heat, like that of a steel furnace, could be felt. Su seemed to be using the high temperature to re-melt and rejuvenate his body, reborn from the ashes!

A small ice particle hit the "Dragon General" tactical helmet, and Lin Mo instinctively looked up, exclaiming, "Hey, trouble's coming!"

The thick, year-round snow on the mountaintop began to loosen due to the fierce battle between the two colossal beasts. Snowballs and ice chunks were rolling down, as if the giant ice cream could no longer withstand the intense shaking, oh, it's about to...

"Looks like I need to add some spice!"

Lin Mo surveyed the mountaintop and then turned his gaze to the dragon hunters and Portlanders struggling to climb up. A mischievous smile appeared on his lips.

Someone was about to have a bad day, and whenever Lin Mo had this expression, it was certain.

"Subsonic cannon self-check... unknown fault, unable to reach 100% output power, maximum output 45%... found repair tool 'Magic Square,' activate? Activate cancel!... custom frequency, rated 30%, begin charging..."

Like the golden dragon Su, facing the dragon hunters or Portlanders alone would be a losing battle, leading to a desperate and futile chase. However, the dragon and Lin Mo had a tacit understanding, working together to face their common enemies, which was a significant headache for the Portlanders and the Anstrather Empire's dragon hunters.

At this moment, the golden dragon was locked in a fierce battle with the peak ninth-rank magical beast, the Dawn Night Flame Lion. It was time for Lin Mo to reveal his trump card and lend a hand to Su and himself.

---

The team, which had lost nearly one-tenth of its members after numerous trials, had to be extremely cautious with every step, always on guard against the unimaginably vicious traps.

"Listen, there's movement on the mountain!"

Portlander Sword God Glen suddenly pulled on his horse's reins, listening intently. The others looked up at the mist-covered peak, where terrifying roars and the sounds of massive impacts could be heard above the white snow line, along with faint red light, indicating a fierce battle between two monstrous creatures.

"Send a flying dragon rider to investigate."

The high-ranking knight leading the Third Division gestured to the sky.

One of the four flying dragons circling the team quickly approached the misty area. Moments later, the dragon that had conducted the reconnaissance swooped down and landed beside the team.

"Report, sir, the dragon seems to be battling a high-rank fire-type magical beast! I apologize, but I couldn't get any closer. It was too dangerous, and Sidi and I almost got killed by the aftereffects of their battle."

The flying dragon rider and his mount were covered in the smell of burning and even had unextinguished embers. Just a quick glance had almost gotten them caught in the battle's aftermath. If they had gotten any closer, they might have been burned to a crisp by the flying embers.

"Click! Click! Click!"

As if to corroborate his rider's report, the flying dragon let out a pitiful low growl, with several ugly black spots on its fine scales.

It wasn't that the soldiers were weak, but the enemy was too powerful, and it didn't even have the qualifications to get close.

"Truly, heaven is on our side. The dragon has met its match. We must speed up!"

Sword God Glen felt a sense of joy. This was a perfect opportunity to benefit from the conflict between the two.

"It's a good opportunity."

The steward of the Morix family, Ronan, and the family's chief knight exchanged glances and nodded in agreement.

With the dragon weakened by the curse and still battling another magical beast, they would be able to hunt it down with much less effort than they had imagined.

"The opportunity has come!"

Lin Mo noticed the movement higher up on the mountain and quickly picked up a large ice block, weighing dozens of pounds, and hurled it at the Dawn Night Flame Lion, which was locked in battle with the golden dragon. He then shouted, "Su! Into the cave! Hurry up!"

Due to its irregular shape and density, the ice block missed its target and instead hit the golden dragon's forehead, then, carrying a trail of rapidly vaporized water, it struck the Dawn Night Flame Lion. Before it could land, it was vaporized by the surrounding flames and heat, recondensing into white mist in the air.

"Sorry, Su!" The apology from the dragon rider was drowned out by a loud boom. His face changed, and he sprinted at full speed toward the cave where the Dawn Night Flame Lion was.

The snow on the mountaintop began to loosen, and the targeted frequency subsonic waves from the "Dragon General" further destabilized the snow and ice layers. More and more snow and ice began to slide down, growing larger and larger, until they could no longer maintain their stability, finally collapsing in large chunks.

The rumbling sound echoed like rolling thunder through the mountains.

"Roar!"

The Dawn Night Flame Lion also noticed the unusual activity on the mountain. Though not a native to the cold region, it had lived there long enough to know what this meant.

Without hesitation, it abandoned the golden dragon and rushed toward its cave, the only truly safe place.

"Trying to escape! Not so easy!" The golden dragon swept its tail, tripping the ninth-rank magical beast that had been evenly matched with it, and then followed Lin Mo into the cave.

The thousands of tons of snow and ice collapsing from the mountain had not yet reached the ground, but the fierce, violent air currents had already swept down, with a force no less than an explosion. If not for the golden dragon's heavy body, it might have been blown away.

"Roar!" The Dawn Night Flame Lion was enraged, its body ablaze with flames, trying to charge into the cave and reclaim its territory.

At the last moment, it failed. It leaped into the air with all its might, almost reaching the cave entrance, but a wave of snow and ice surged down, instantly burying it and sweeping it down the mountain.

"The mountain is collapsing!"

The dragon hunters and Portlanders, who were almost at the mountain's waist, were terrified. They had never seen an avalanche and thought the mountain was collapsing.

How could human strength resist the power of nature? Even the strongest warriors were no different from ants in the face of such natural might.

Even the green-scaled steeds, which were better adapted to mountain terrain than warhorses, could not match the speed of the avalanche. A disaster, both natural and man-made, was about to engulf these unfortunate dragon hunters and Portlanders.

The massive cave entrance, shrouded in mist, was instantly buried in snow and ice, leaving only an endless darkness.

Soon, light returned to the cave. A ping-pong ball-sized light orb floated in the air, emitting a soft, gentle white light.

It was just a simple first-level illumination spell, but it brought light to the creatures trapped in darkness.

The golden dragon Su and the dragon rider Lin Mo looked at each other, both almost drained of energy, panting heavily. They were exhausted and scared, and it had been a close call. They had almost met the same fate as the ninth-rank magical beast.

"Finally, we made it in!"

The rare period of laziness has ended, and it's time to start working hard again.
