Chapter 64: Semi-Finals

"Player Qiao has once again achieved victory in a higher-level match with her superior tactics! She has become the third player to advance to the semi-finals of the Hundred New Talent Competition! She is also the only player to win with a beginner-level pet beast! What do you two think of this match?" the commentator said, looking at the two guests beside him.

"I still stand by my words, I look forward to facing her in the regional tournament in the future," Sha Duo said with a smile.

"The direction of this match was something I didn't expect. Qiao is very impressive. Winning a higher-level match against a reverse attribute is something I couldn't do when I was young, and I can't do it now," Gao Xulu said seriously.

"Miss Xulu, don't say that. A beginner-level pet beast defeating a mid-level pet beast is different from a mid-level pet beast defeating a king-level pet beast," the commentator quickly said.

Qiao returned to her seat.

The commentator's voice could be heard clearly from the backstage passage to the audience seats.

Before Bai Yunmiao could excitedly speak, Qiao asked, "Is Gao Xulu more famous or is Sha Duo more famous?"

Bai Yunmiao was taken aback.

Although she didn't understand why Qiao suddenly asked this, she thought for a moment and replied, "Although Gao Xulu has beaten Sha Duo, their fans seem to be about the same. Most of Gao Xulu's supporters are due to her strength, while most of Sha Duo's supporters are due to his charisma."

"Then I can rest easy," Qiao sighed in relief.

"What were you worried about just now?" Bai Yunmiao asked in confusion.

"Just now, Gao Xulu praised me so much that I was afraid her fans would mob me and start a relay battle. Since her fame is about the same as Sha Duo's, I can rest easy," Qiao explained.

Bai Yunmiao: "…"

On the arena.

During the break between the pet beast performances, three or four staff members summoned their pet beasts to repair the arena.

After each match, the arena must be restored to its original state to ensure it does not affect the next match.

F-class pet beast masters need to repair the arena fewer times.

The winner of the fourth match was Li Langyi. Although he has two pet beasts, one is still a beginner.

In the afternoon match, he will definitely send out his mid-level pet beast, the Longtail Snake.

Qiao looked at the remaining three players in her notes and felt a bit worried.

Except for Li Langyi, she had no confidence against the others.

Unlike the other players.

Hou Xiangyu and Wei Wenyao won purely by strength without using tactics.

They each have two mid-level pet beasts of different attributes, and the skills they displayed are limited, making it difficult to assess and study them.

Unlike her.

Tactics require a lot of brainpower, and her trump cards have already been revealed.

…

In the pet beast arena's player lounge.

"Qiao, what are you doing?" Bai Yunmiao asked, holding takeout as she walked in.

Since the afternoon was the final of the Hundred New Talent Competition, most people did not leave and had meals nearby in Shuke Park.

As a semi-finalist, Qiao naturally did not return.

"I'm letting Fire Tooth Dog draw lots to see who my opponent will be in the afternoon," Qiao said, closely watching Fire Tooth Dog's movements.

"Isn't this something the organizers let you do?" Bai Yunmiao couldn't help but ask.

She had to question it because the props Fire Tooth Dog was using to draw lots were too crude.

Just three pieces of paper crumpled together on the table, with no cover or container.

"Of course not, I did this myself," Qiao said.

Bai Yunmiao: "…"

Sure enough…

But is Qiao so childish…

She doesn't seem like it usually…

Fire Tooth Dog stared at the paper balls on the table without moving.

It wasn't that it was hesitant; every time it pointed to a paper ball, its master would read it and put it back, making it reselect.

It didn't know what it was doing wrong.

30 seconds later.

"Tooth."

Fire Tooth Dog pushed one of the paper balls with its paw.

Qiao opened it and almost spat blood.

Hou Xiangyu again!

For the third time!

They say things don't happen more than three times, but Fire Tooth Dog has drawn Hou Xiangyu three times in a row. Could he really be her first opponent in the afternoon?

Hou Xiangyu is clearly the strongest of the three.

This is too unlucky…

"Why let Fire Tooth Dog draw lots, why don't you do it yourself?" Bai Yunmiao suddenly asked.

"Because Fire Tooth Dog has a unique luck. The person it says will win usually loses, and it's very accurate," Qiao said.

"Opposite, then the person it draws must not be your opponent, right?" Bai Yunmiao countered.

Qiao was taken aback, feeling suddenly enlightened.

That makes sense!

…

2 PM in the afternoon.

Pet Beast Arena.

"Ladies and gentlemen, on-site audience, and viewers watching the live stream of our Hundred New Talent Competition, the next is the announcement of the first semi-final match-up. Please look at the big screen!"

The remaining four photos kept alternating, and after 6 seconds, they stopped.

Looking at the screen, Qiao stiffly looked at Fire Tooth Dog, who was trying to maintain a poker face.

"The first semi-final match-up is announced! It's between Wei Wenyao and Li Langyi! The remaining players, Hou Xiangyu and Qiao, will automatically be the opponents in the second match!"

Bai Yunmiao looked at Qiao sympathetically, "Don't worry, Qiao, even if you lose, you can still compete for third place. At worst, you'll be fourth, which is already very impressive."

Anyone could see that Hou Xiangyu, with his control and unique abilities, was the strongest of the four.

And Qiao…

Qiao forced a stiff smile, "Thank you, I feel comforted."

Having come this far, who wouldn't want a higher ranking?

If the semi-final match was against Li Langyi, she could probably win with her knowledge of the Longtail Snake, securing a spot in the final.

She didn't think about getting first place, but second place was something she had considered…

After all, the prize for second place is much better than third.

Not to mention the league coins, the value of the motorcycle and the water-type evolution stone is much higher.

She had even thought about selling the water-type evolution stone on a certain website…

She had even thought about the price…

…

On the arena, with the referee's whistle, both sides summoned the Longtail Snake and the Force Duck.

The match did not have any surprises.

As Wei Wenyao's first pet beast, the Force Duck had a slight edge in both coordination and ultimate skills.

The Longtail Snake's skills were all avoided by the Force Duck, and the match ended with the Force Duck's Water Cannon.

It seems her next opponent will be Li Langyi.

Qiao wasn't surprised at all by the result…

The second semi-final match was soon to begin.

"Will Hou Xiangyu win again with his overwhelming strength, or will Qiao create a miracle and win another higher-level match? Who will secure the last spot in the final!" the commentator said passionately.

After finishing, he didn't forget to ask the guests for their opinions, "What do you two think?"

Most of the audience came for the guests, so they naturally wanted them to speak more.

"From an emotional standpoint, I hope Qiao wins, but from a rational standpoint, Hou Xiangyu should win," Sha Duo said with a smile.

"What about Miss Xulu?"

"I agree," Gao Xulu replied.

The commentator: "…"

"Such a concise and clear answer. Now, let's focus our attention on the arena."

Yesterday and today, I can see everyone's comments on the author's assistant, but it doesn't seem to show on the起点 (Qidian) platform. Someone asked me a question yesterday, and I replied, but it didn't seem to show up.

I'll answer her question here: Pet beasts definitely have gender distinctions, but they won't be specifically mentioned. I didn't specifically mention Fire Tooth Dog's gender, but it should be clear that it's a boy. Also, pet beasts that can communicate with humans in the later stages should exist.
