Chapter 8

At the Beast Training House, in one of the public rooms.

"Another unlucky one who wasted three free choices... Hmm, it's a Special Class... Zhu Wu, I've sent you the video!"

Zhou Nan shook his head and sighed as he sent the video from the monitoring center to Zhu Wu, "The Special Class is really something. The strong ones are incredibly powerful, while the weak ones can't even contract with a beast, truly eye-opening."

"Received!"

Zhu Wu glanced at the file transfer progress and then said, "That's how the Special Class is. Some Special Class talents have no promoting effect on the growth of pet beasts, so contracting is extremely difficult, basically only possible through forced contracting.

However, these Special Class talents often have unique abilities, and once they grow, they become extremely powerful."

He paused and gave an example, "For instance, the legendary Beast Master Chen Fan. His talent 'Fusion' had no promoting effect on the growth of pet beasts, so he couldn't contract with a highly potential pet beast in the early stages.

But he didn't give up; instead, he chose to improve himself, learning various combat techniques and ancient martial arts.

After he advanced to the Expert Beast Master level, he ventured deep into the 'Beast Wilderness,' risking his life to forcibly contract with a young Behemoth, thus beginning his legendary journey."

"I know, 'A Behemoth with martial arts, no one can stop it!'"

Zhou Nan rolled his eyes and said indifferently, "Such geniuses are rare, how could they be encountered so easily?

Chen Fan, aside from his Beast Master talent, had a spirit power that was a once-in-a-century occurrence. I remember his first two pet beasts had ordinary potential and couldn't help him after he became a professional Beast Master.

In such a situation, he managed to tough it out to the Expert level. How can his talent be compared?"

Zhu Wu shook his head and casually said, "How do you know this person isn't the next legend?"

Zhou Nan muttered, "Is it that easy?"

Zhu Wu didn't continue arguing with Zhou Nan but instead opened the completed file.

Seeing the student in the video, Zhu Wu couldn't help but be surprised, "Chen Wen? It's him?"

Zhou Nan asked, "You know him?"

Zhu Wu replied, "I just met him today. He's quite polite, and I even gave him some key points."

As he spoke, he opened the video and watched it at double speed.

After a quick scan, Zhu Wu rewound the video to the scene where Chen Wen's contract failed and watched it carefully twice.

"Indeed, it's a Special Class talent that doesn't promote the growth of pet beasts, huh?"

"Hmm... his spirit power isn't bad..."

"He chose flying pet beasts with Elite Extraordinary potential three times, does he have a preference for flying pet beasts?"

"..."

Zhu Wu recalled Chen Wen's contract data and quickly analyzed him, then searched the database for a suitable pet beast for Chen Wen.

After three failed contracts, the Beast Training House would assign suitable pet beasts to the failed students, and he and Zhou Nan were the Beast Trainers responsible for this task.

This job wasn't difficult.

Most students who failed to contract mainly lacked spirit power, so it was just a matter of finding a pet beast with lower potential and a gentle temperament based on their preferences from the three contract attempts.

Zhou Nan did it this way.

However, Zhu Wu was willing to put in more effort.

Coming from an ordinary family, he knew the significance of the first free pet beast provided by the state for students from ordinary families.

It could very well change their life circumstances!

...

The reception room of the Beast Training House was not large, about the size of a school classroom.

The walls were painted white, and there were rows of stainless steel chairs in the middle.

Because of the air conditioning, the stainless steel chairs were a bit cold, but they couldn't compare to the coldness in the hearts of the young people in the room.

The more excited and joyful they were when entering the Beast Training House, the more dejected and depressed they were now.

After entering the room, all the young people did the same: they quietly found a seat with fewer people, sat down, and looked at the floor.

Chen Wen was no exception.

He was really hit hard.

Yesterday, he was full of confidence after crossing over, but today he was struck by a heavy blow. No matter how strong his heart was, it couldn't take it!

After a few dazed minutes, a young man with glasses entered the reception room with a stack of white papers.

"Cough, cough!"

After a light cough, the young man with glasses said, "My name is Zhu Wu, and I am a Beast Trainer at the Beast Training House. I will be assigning pet beasts to everyone next."

Chen Wen looked up at the young man speaking and was stunned for a moment before blushing and lowering his head.

He was embarrassed in front of someone he knew!

Zhu Wu had given him so much advice and even lent him a guidebook, but he failed repeatedly. If there were a crack in the ground, Chen Wen would have wanted to crawl into it.

However, the room was so small, and there were so few people; he couldn't hide even if he wanted to.

Zhu Wu started calling out names.

"Qiu Ren!"

"Fu Huafei!"

"..."

"Chen Wen!"

When he called Chen Wen's name, he gave him a gentle smile.

After calling everyone's name, Zhu Wu put down the list and said, "Don't be so dejected. The success rate of three contract attempts isn't high, and the pet beasts you chose might not have been truly suitable for you."

The pet beasts you chose might not have been truly suitable for you, but would the ones chosen by others be suitable?

Chen Wen and the others didn't feel much better after hearing this.

Seeing that everyone still had their heads down, Zhu Wu thought for a moment and said, "Do you know why you didn't succeed in contracting?"

Perhaps they had been thinking about this problem since their failure, so when Zhu Wu asked, they couldn't help but speak up.

"It's the talent, my talent is too poor!"

"I chose the wrong pet beast."

"I was always just a little short; I should have chosen the same pet beast all three times."

"My spirit power is not strong enough; the contract halo didn't have much effect."

"..."

Zhu Wu listened to everyone's answers seriously and then shook his head.

"Talent, choice, spirit power? No, none of these!"

When Zhu Wu said this, everyone's attention was drawn to him.

Zhu Wu continued, "You are all Beast Master apprentices. The contract formed by your spirit power is not strong enough to bind any pet beast, so the contract can only succeed if the pet beast doesn't resist at all.

Being contracted means better growth, but it also means losing freedom.

The pet beast will sense your Beast Master talent through the contract halo. If your talent can help it grow better, it might give up its freedom for that.

But if it senses that your talent cannot help it grow or only helps a little, it will resist."

After saying this, Zhu Wu continued leading the way, allowing everyone to think carefully.

Chen Wen thought about his talent.

Bonding, a divine skill for getting pet beasts for free, but it doesn't help the growth of pet beasts at all.

If he were a pet beast, he might have made the same choice.

Zhu Wu asked, "Do you know where your problem lies now?"

Many people nodded slightly, their expressions slightly better.

"Knowing the problem, we can solve it. Next, I will assign suitable pet beasts to everyone..."

Before Zhu Wu finished speaking, someone in the group angrily said, "Suitable pet beasts, are they just trash pet beasts?"
