Chapter 122: A Souvenir From Her

Putting away the documents at hand, He Yu took a sideways glance at the young woman beside him, who lay with her head tilted and her face somewhat askew as she slept. With a layer of tenderness surfacing between his eyebrows, He Yu whispered lightly, “She’s not just adorable.”

Gu Yu’s eyebrows furrowed, unashamedly asking, “So what else is there?”

Looking up at his friend, He Yu smiled lightly and just said, “I can’t tell, I just like it very much.”

Gu Yu slumped in his seat, letting out a snort from his throat. He Yu had a gentle personality and was also courteous to women, but there was something different about his gentleness now and he could tell that he truly liked this little wife of his.

That was pretty good too.

This business trip was in Christchurch which was located on the Southern Island of New Zealand. While it was summer in China, it was winter in New Zealand. However, Christchurch possessed an oceanic climate, so the temperature would not be too low even in winter.

Upon arriving in New Zealand, they settled into a one-story house in a small town outside of Christchurch. It was the He Family Group’s property and had been warmed and cleaned before the couple arrived.

He Yu was on a work trip this time and became busy as soon as he landed. Su Qiuzi was not familiar with life here, so He Yu arranged an assistant to accompany her to play around in Christchurch.

Although the couple had come to New Zealand together, they were in much the same state as when they were at home, with very little time to meet or spend time together. Often, when Su Qiuzi fell asleep, He Yu was still not home. When Su Qiuzi woke up the next morning, He Yu had already left.

Knowing that He Yu was busy with his work, Su Qiuzi was not bothered much and the assistant that He Yu arranged for her was one of the He Family Group’s managers in Christchurch. He was familiar with Christchurch and had been showing her around for the past few days.

Christchurch itself was a garden-like city with perennial greenery and a very strong Brits presence. In this garden city, Su Qiuzi was able to take a tram ride, wander the River Avon, and watch opera and ballet performances. It was her first time out of the country and she was having so much fun these days. She also sent postcards to Lin Qing, Guan Lin, and Lian Junyin in China.

By late afternoon, Su Qiuzi was sent home by the manager with some souvenirs in her hand. Bundled up against the cold wind, she opened the door and entered the house, where the burning fireplace dissipated the chill from her body. Immediately, Su Qiuzi took off her scarf and when she raised her eyes, she saw He Yu, who seemed to be waiting for her in the living room.#pleasereadthischapteratfoxaholic.com

He Yu seemed to have just returned from a meeting. He was wearing a dark suit and sat next to the fireplace, holding a document in his hand as his feet rested upon the soft carpet. The soft light of the fireplace faintly flickered in his eyes, complimenting his tall stature and long legs. With his reserved temperament, he was every bit the image of a British gentleman.

When he heard the door open, He Yu had immediately raised his eyes. Looking at his wife standing at the door, the corner of his lips curved slightly. The young woman looked at him and smiled, softly calling out to him.

“Hubby.”

Su Qiuzi felt that she was quite the thankless wretch. She was here to accompany He Yu on a business trip, but in reality she couldn’t help at all. He Yu was busy working outside every day, while she was travelling at the government’s expense and even hogging one of He Family Group’s managers to accompany her.#pleasereadthischapteratfoxaholic.com

Hearing her call, He Yu mumbled a response and put away the papers. A smiling Su Qiuzi walked over to him, her nose looking a little red from the cold, and passed him the souvenir in her hand. The gift was a small bunny made of clay, not very expensive, but she didn’t know what to buy him either. She had also made a bunny for He Yu last time and he seemed to like it quite a bit. That little bunny had been placed on his desk in the study, the cute bunny, made of ceramic art Q version, was incompatible with the study that had a strong elite atmosphere.
