The box was small and there was no telling what was inside, neither did Su Qiuzi want to know. She had made it clear to Luo Fan last time, that the two of them no longer needed to have any interaction. If his mother’s case was found out, he could contact her, but he shouldn’t do this kind of mindless thing.

Su Qiuzi hadn’t spoken yet, but Luo Fan had already handed it to her, as soon as she subconsciously took it, Luo Fan said, “Anything happened, I’ll definitely send it out, so feel free to throw it away if you don’t want to keep it.”

This brief encounter was only sort of a small episode, drifting away like a puff of smoke during the course of her birthday. He Yu didn’t ask much about it and Su Qiuzi didn’t mention much either. While she wanted to tell He Yu about the previous encounter, there was still Miao Hualing and Lian Junyin, so now wasn’t the right time to talk about it.

Over at Miao Hualing’s house, Su Qiuzi spent one of the most memorable birthdays of her life. The table was full of food, there were candles on the cake, Lian Junyin sang her a birthday song, she was even wearing her birthday kind of small crown, like a child who was loved and cared for by the whole family.

Su Qiuzi was very happy, He Yu was quietly watching her from the side, the corner of his lips shallowly hooked up, the candlelight covered a thin layer of tenderness on his face, making him more gentle and soft.

“Make a wish ah!” Lian Junyin couldn’t wait to tell Su Qiuzi.

Su Qiuzi closed her eyes, made a silent wish, then finally, with a smile, blew out the candle. As soon as the flame went out, Lian Junyin cheered, Miao Hualing and Lian Xiaoqing also laughed out, just after Su Qiuzi sat down, He Yu held her hand beside her. The man’s palm was warm, making Su Qiuzi’s smile grow even more pronounced.

After celebrating her birthday, Su Qiuzi and He Yu left Miao Hualing’s house. At the end of August, it was already feeling like early autumn, with the wind at night not as hot and humid as it was in summer.

When they got into the car, Su Qiuzi hadn’t recovered from the atmosphere of the birthday party. Her mouth kept talking to He Yu about the cake and candles from earlier, being happy and fulfilled.

He Yu listened with a shallow smile and asked her, “Are we going home now?”

“Huh?” When Su Qiuzi looked back, the girl still had a little bit of white cream on the tip of her nose.

He Yu chuckled and gently wiped it off with his thumb, then Su Qiuzi laughed and said, “I want to set off the Kongming lantern.”

“Mmm.” He Yu agreed warmly and asked, “Where?”

“The kiosk in front of First High School.” Su Qiuzi replied, “I studied there.”

The man gave her a sideways glance and responded, ” Okay.”

In different cities, the first high school tended to be the more prestigious one, and Xia City was no exception. Back then, Su Qiuzi was relying on her excellent grades to get in there.

Because of her mother’s affair, Su Qiuzi suffered from school violence and was humiliated and abused in elementary school, but when she went to junior and senior high school, this situation became fewer. Firstly, she had good academic performance, secondly, she was mentally strong and knew how to protect herself. Thirdly, most of the students in the school didn’t know about her, with the group that did know going into Xia City International Private High School just like Su Ai.
