The show Su Quizi joined was called “The Taste of the Mainland”. It was directed by a woman named Lu Jia who is about 40 years old. She came from a journalist background and went deep into the war zone as a reporter in a TV station once. Later on, she became interested in the war zone’s culture. Then became a freelance journalist wherein she published some books and wrote biographies. Now, she mainly works as a documentary director as “The Taste of the Mainland” would be her second documentary film.

With her very diverse work style, her first documentary film focused on cultural traditions while the second one focused on food. Both of them had different stories. In her own words, she wanted to enrich her experiences in life through distinct documentary films.

In contrast to Zhu Meng, Lu Jia has a more enthusiastic and outgoing personality. As she was constantly traveling around, her personality was wild, along with her excellent skills and a relatively warm heart. Su Qiuzi meticulously fell head over heels with this female director after a couple of weeks of working on the film.

To say that it was love is a bit extreme, but in fact it was admiration. After all, this woman had other traits that she appreciated and admired, which was not only being independent but also relentless and strong.

As opposed to Cai Jiayu, Lu Jia was also fond of Su Qiuzi. This host was relatively young but approachable and hardworking. During the filming of the documentary, there was not much work for the host. When Su Qiuzi was done, she would either help out in the film crew or she would engage in a small conversation with the actors who were filming with the crew, so that she could learn something that she did not know in order to enrich herself which was quite motivating.

When it was time for the Spring Festival, the “The Taste of the Mainland” crew made their way to the west and entered the Tibetan region, where they mostly filmed the traditional Tibetan New Year’s Eve food called “Gutu”.

The crew was outsourced which meant that the team was actually put together by Lu Jia. In addition to the director, there was also a cameraman named Lai Zhuo. Lai Zhuo was about thirty years old this year, tall and big, wearing snow boots and cowboy clothes, with a baseball cap and tanned skin. He’s particularly exotic. Apart from him, there were a number of assistants of all sorts, responsible for helping with the filming.

Prior to entering Tibet, Lu Jia had contacted a Tibetan guide called Gesang Wangmu. The young girl was the typical Tibetan girl, who was only twenty years old, taking a winter break from college to make some quick bucks as a guide.

Along with the development of tourism in the Tibetan area, the majority of them could speak Chinese, but the places they went to were relatively secluded, with most of them being older or middle-aged women who hadn’t gone to school and only spoke Tibetan. Gesang was not very old but she could read the weather. As the crew of the show drove into Tibet, following the planned route, which was supposed to be more difficult to navigate and would also encounter bad weather. With the help of Gesang, it became a lot easier to get there.

Due to their similar age, Su Qiuzi and Gesang had gotten a bit closer. Gesang was late to start her studies and was only in her first year of college this year. She studied vocal music at a vocational college. Sometimes in the car, Gesang would also sing. With her beautiful voice, it was like she had been kissed by an angel, her voice was loud and clear while singing some folk songs which was very relaxing.

During the time of entering Tibet, from Qiangtang into Cocosiri, passing through the no man’s land, they also encountered some Tibetan antelopes. Regarding the Tibetan antelope, Lu Jia entertained Gesang with many questions such as poaching, protection, and also antelope skin…
