"Alice Surface!! I am breaking our engagement!!"
The moment the video from the student's communication magic streamed into the dance hall, the staff room was in an uproar.
"Someone contact the principal!"
"If we can get in touch, get permission to contact the royal family and the Surface family as well!"
"Even Professor Altena is there? What's going on!"
Amidst the chaos, I ran towards the dance hall, determined to save Alice.
"Professor Alusha! I'm coming too!"
When I arrived at the dance hall with Professor Mikaël and a few other teachers, the hall was covered in a glowing magical barrier.
"It's Kyle Lucas! Why is this happening! No one can break a light magic barrier!"
Meanwhile, the video of Alice being interrogated continued to play.
I can't save Alice unless I break this barrier.
But if I break it and they find out I can use light magic, they'll kill me.
Still, I didn't hesitate for a moment.
I want to save Alice! I put strength into my left hand for the first time in eight years.
"Mother! Rainbow!"
The first time I used light magic was out of a desperate desire to make my frail mother laugh.
The moment a rainbow was created from my left hand, my mother and the surrounding maids were in an uproar.
After it was discovered that I could use light magic, my already frail mother became even weaker, and by the time I was 12, her fragile life was almost over.
"Alusha, you are blessed with the ability to use light magic."
"Yes, Mother."
"That is your greatest strength, but it might also be the source of your suffering.
You may encounter people who try to take advantage of you or use your power for evil.
But remember, never hate. Hatred erodes people.
If you can't forgive, be angry. Anger is important.
Face the person and express your anger properly.
No matter what, the light will always shine on you.
Alusha, you are my light, not because you can use light magic, but because you are you.
No matter what happens, never lose yourself."
Mother said these words and then passed away.
I didn't have time to mourn my mother's death.
Taking advantage of the death of my mother, who was originally a commoner and a low-ranking concubine, the queen accused me of being a bastard.
My father, the king, said nothing.
I was taken in by a baron's family on the condition that I renounce my right to succession and never use light magic again after leaving the palace.
If I used light magic, I would be considered a rebel and executed.
On the last day before leaving the palace, I met a little girl crying in the garden.
To stop her crying, I used light magic for the first time since my mother's death, and what would likely be the last time in my life.
A small rainbow made her smile instantly.
Her smile was so cute, it made my heart race.
Since I wouldn't see her again, I burned her smile into my memory and quietly hid.
When I left the palace, I was not allowed to take most of my belongings, only my mother's necklace.
"Hey, Alusha."
The last person to call me in the palace was my half-brother Alan, who always glared at me with hatred and with whom I had hardly ever spoken.
"I have a fiancée. Alice Surface. The girl you were being friendly with in the garden just now."
Alan smiled with a twisted face that didn't look like a prince at all.
