Chapter 49 – Quarrel

Di Jing disliked this. Since she did not mention it, then he had to bring it up.

“I have something to say.”

This night, he came to her room and took the initiative to speak.

Shangguan Yan looked at him with a gentle expression and a polite smile on her face.

“Oh?”

“Zhuang Qinwang wants to marry his daughter to me.”

“You don’t have anything else to say?”

Instantly, Di Jing’s face sank and his eyes became deeper and unfathomable. His tone sounded a little dangerous. “What did you say?”

Ha, he is angry!

All the servants and maids had already fled outside the house in fright and quickly retreated. This is the first time that Lord Di and his wife quarreled since they got married. Shangguan Yan stopped the pretense of putting up a smiling face for him and with her hands on her waist, she confronted him. “Why are you glaring at me for? The one who benefits is not me but you! Why can’t I congratulate you?”

“We are upright people and don’t talk with hidden meanings. You are purposely trying to make me angry.” Di Jing suddenly took big steps to move closer to her.

Shangguan Yan wanted to retreat but suddenly felt it was not right.

If she is to step backward, he will think that she is afraid of him! She is not retreating!

“That’s right, I am unhappy but for me to feel unhappy is normal, but what are you unhappy about?”

“If you are angry, you can tell me.”

Both of them had gotten married not too long ago and others had barged into her territory with a show of oppression. Di Jing had kept this from her and said that he was not tempted. It would be strange if she did not feel suspicious of him!

“You’re right. I should have told you about this matter from the very beginning because this matter is entirely your problem.” The direction of the conversation suddenly changed and he pushed all the blame on her.

She was stunned and asked angrily. “My problem? Is there a mistake? Someone wants to marry his daughter to you and you still say it’s my problem?”

She was so angry that she wanted to leave but found that her waist was trapped in his arms. She turned around and scolded again. “Let me go! Who says you can touch me?!”

The arms around her waist tightened and she was hugged tightly against his chest. Both of them stared at each other as his angry breath blew on her face causing an itchy feeling.

He spoke to her in a firm tone. “That time when the Ninth Prince and Pan Gongzi wanted to snatch you away, it was my problem and I solved that. Now someone is coming to snatch away your man, why isn’t this your problem? This time, it’s your turn to worry!”

Is there actually this kind of reason? When other women want to snatch him, it’s her problem but not his?

“Is it my wrong that County Princess is interested in you?”

“When someone showed interest in your man, you turned a blind eye, did not care, and did not solve it. You showed indifference, avoided responsibility, placed the person sharing your pillow in danger, and ignored him. A heartless person like you should be punished!”

(Tai Chi is a form of exercise the Chinese people do to improve their health. The moves are based on martial arts and are a combination of slow movements and deep breaths. Tai Chi exercises can be done alone or with a partner and if two people exercise together, both of them will look like they are sparing with each other.

In this story, when DJ mentioned that he is making Tai Chi moves with the Emperor, it means that DJ is pushing the marriage suggestion back to the Emperor while the Emperor is pushing the responsibility of this matter to DJ.
