Chapter 34 - An Unable-to-Let-it-Go Dream

It was late into the night when Qin Qin woke up. It was dark out there. The room was with light on. She rolled her eyes and slightly moved her body. She found that her wounds were all wrapped up. Everything was fine except that she didn’t gain much strength.

Qin Qin felt a little bit dizzy. There seemed to be a blackout. She tried hard recalling. It seemed that the last thing she could remember was the unbelievable gentle voice of Chao Sheng.

However, how could it be possible! She scorned to herself. She must have an illusion due to the drug addiction. She would thank god if Chao Sheng would simply stop hating her. How come he talked to her intimately like they were lovers?!

“Awake?”

“Get up and have some porridge if you are awake. You haven’t eaten anything for two days.”

Sitting beside her bed, Chao Sheng talked with her gently. His eyes were with obvious redness. There were bruises at the corner of his mouth and evident scratch marks around his neck. Now he seemed to be quite different, for normally he was quite a decent man, but now was with quite a funny look.

She was held in his arms when the drug addiction came to her. She knew she couldn’t control herself. She remembered vaguely that she seemed to have beaten, scolded, and even scratched him. Not long ago, she thought those were all illusions. However, now, the memories seemed to be true.

Qin Qin felt sorry for the scratches, but on a second thought, he was the very person who was so stone-hearted to kill their kid. The slight compassion was gone immediately.

Chao Sheng slowly helped her up, took a spoon of the porridge at hand, and sent it to her mouth.

“I can do it myself.” Qin Qin wanted to fetch the spoon and do it herself. Yet Chao Sheng moved his hand backwards to avoid the touch. It was clear that he wanted to feed her himself.

She didn’t insist.

They two both didn’t speak. She was starved and ate fast. It didn’t take long for her to eat it up.

“When you get better tomorrow, go to the hospital and have a thorough body check.”

Qin Qin got stiff for a while on hearing the words. She lowered her eyes and kept quiet before she finally spoke, “No need to check, it’s drug addiction. It won’t help to go to the hospital.” Ironically, the addiction was forced on her by him.

Chao Sheng suddenly shouted out loud, “I said you go!”

“All right.” Qin Qin didn’t retort, but she clenched her fists under the quilt.

Qin Qin wasn’t quite recover yet. After the porridge, she felt dizzy and went asleep soon. She seemed to feel the fall of something on the bed beside her, and then she was soon in a warm hug.

Reluctant to think what happened, she found a comfortable position and continued sleeping.

Being half-sleep, Qin Qin seemed to hear someone call her, “Mommy! Mommy!”

She looked around and found herself beside the river bank. And the kid calling her was on the opposite side of the river and staggering towards her.

Despite distance, she saw clearly the baby’s face. He was much alike Chao Sheng, but unlike Chao Sheng, he loved to smile. He was such a cute little one.

Her heart became tender on seeing her baby. She wanted to hug him but was shocked to find herself unable to move. All she could do was to see the baby coming near.

Qin Qin could even hear the sound of her heart beat. Baby, her baby, was finally coming to her.

The baby was coming nearer and nearer. However, his body was falling into the river in a quite fast speed. Only seconds, it was only his head that was still above the water. And her baby started to be panic and scream for mommy.

“Baby!”
