"Great King, you... still owe me a dance..."
Annie whispered softly. This twenty-year-old girl extended her hand at this moment, grabbing hold of Li Mu's emotions that were about to spiral out of control. Li Mu's eyes were bloodshot, and he slowly lowered his head to look at Annie. A savage aura flickered in his eyes, as if he could lose control and tear apart the living flesh before him at any moment.
"Just because I took one more look at you in the crowd, I can no longer forget your face..."
In the darkness, under the moonlight, the ground was covered in blood. On the street below, a terrifying zombie slowly raised its head, its dull, bloodshot eyes filled with savagery, staring at the figure on the terrace.
A faint, ethereal song murmured from Annie's lips. She didn't know where her courage came from, but she gently held Li Mu's hand, and under the moonlight, amidst the blood, she began to spin and leap, her clothes fluttering, her beauty captivating. She danced for Li Mu.
The blood in Li Mu's eyes gradually faded, his body becoming stiff. The muscles that could crush an entire elite armored unit or slice through a tank, now became rigid.
Even his speed, which could reach a hundred meters in a second, seemed unable to keep up with Annie's dance steps. He moved almost mechanically, following Annie's lead, taking stiff, mechanical steps.
Everyone watched this scene in a daze. It was so terrifying yet stunning, the demon-like man and the beautiful girl dancing in the moonlight, stepping on the blood.
Many believed that this scene would be hard to forget for many years. It was a dance of innocence and evil, beauty and savagery, so out of place, yet it was so captivating that it made people forget the horror.
The savage Li Mu, under Annie's lead, danced clumsily yet carefully. Everyone could feel the softness beneath his savage body, a yearning for beauty and a desire to protect everything.
The red mutant parrot couldn't help but feel a bit envious, "This woman isn't as stupid as I thought."
Annie forgot her fear, forgot everything, holding Li Mu's stiff and cold hand, continuously dancing. At this moment, she could clearly feel the fiery heart beneath Li Mu's cold shell, the loneliness, the desolation, the lack of understanding. These emotions came like a flood, making Annie want to cry, but she proudly raised her head, laughing wildly, a pure and innocent laugh. She knew that even if this man fell into the abyss of hell and became a zombie, he still didn't need pity or sympathy.
Because he was Li Mu, the one who, even in the depths of hell, amidst mountains of corpses and rivers of blood, would return with unwavering determination.
The sweet, soft breath of the girl warmed Li Mu's ear, making his gaze soften. Incomplete memories boiled in his veins, as if there had been a day, a moment, when another girl had danced with him on the street, making a promise that would last a lifetime.
Even if only this shell remained, a single insignificant action from others could make these fragmented memories surge like a flood, overwhelming him.
Li Mu became even more quiet, his lips pressed together, hiding the savagery of his fangs, quietly watching Annie. His movements were clumsy but careful, his savage and cold body gently embracing Annie's small, warm body.
He could feel the long-lost warmth and heat in this body, a warmth different from that of the zombies and this world.
But the song would eventually end, and the dance could not last forever.
As Annie's song gradually faded, Li Mu slowly stopped, his grayish-white eyes quietly looking at Annie, nodding, and slowly releasing her hand.
Annie felt a sense of loss, staring at Li Mu in a daze.
Li Mu's face was expressionless, and he slowly raised his hand. A roar echoed, and a figure below the street quickly leaped and climbed, soon reaching the terrace, its bloodshot eyes savage, its low growl suppressed. It was Charlie.
The red mutant parrot landed on Li Mu's shoulder, nodding approvingly at Annie, "Woman, you did well. The Great King has protected you for so long, it wasn't in vain."
Annie ignored the red mutant parrot, just looking at Li Mu and softly saying, "I don't care what others think. Call me low or foolish, I beg you to stay and continue protecting us."
"Annie, are you crazy?"
Someone screamed.
The red mutant parrot immediately sneered, spitting, "Great King, as I said, these ingrates should all be killed! Damn, they don't know when to die!"
One sentence, filled with killing intent, immediately made the others fall silent, trembling in fear.
Li Mu's face was expressionless, and he slowly extended his hand. Charlie immediately took large steps forward, his bloodshot eyes flickering with a desire for blood, but he soon saw Annie's sister and became quiet again.
Li Mu nodded, turned, and walked away. The red mutant parrot immediately shouted, "Woman, we'll meet again. The fool will protect you and your sister. Fool, see you later!"
Before the red mutant parrot could finish speaking, Li Mu had already grabbed it, looked back at the former paradise one last time, and without hesitation, jumped off the building.
Annie quickly followed, standing on the terrace, but could only see Li Mu, surrounded by countless zombies, slowly walking into the darkness, becoming indistinct.
Annie couldn't hold back her tears, looking back. Although Charlie was still savage, he was now firmly protecting her sister, his savage body giving her a sense of security.
"Will he come back?"
Someone finally couldn't help but ask, looking at Charlie fearfully from a distance.
Annie didn't speak, just walked over, politely smiling at Charlie, and picked up her sister. Charlie immediately growled unhappily, savage and terrifying, but obediently followed Annie, or rather, Annie holding her sister.
Seeing Annie about to leave, the others immediately called out, "Where are you going! What if he comes back?"
Annie stopped, turned, and coldly laughed, "No, he won't come back."
The others were stunned, not expecting Annie to be so certain. It wasn't until they saw Annie leave under Charlie's protection that they suddenly realized the harsh reality. Without Li Mu's protection, how would they survive in this city?
They looked at each other, and then suddenly began to fight. The canned food and alcohol that they had previously taken for granted were now the most precious resources, because they had finally lost their protector.
Bang!
No one knew who fired the shot, followed by a nearly desperate roar, "No!"
