"Air force squadron has already set off, heading for Canberra, expected to arrive at the designated location in thirteen minutes..."
"Tank squadron has already set off, heading for Canberra, expected to arrive at the designated location in one hour and thirty-seven minutes..."
"Artillery battalion is adjusting coordinates, target Canberra, expected to begin the first artillery barrage in one minute and thirty seconds..."
"Destroyer..."
The orderly electronic voice echoed one by one in the forward base's combat command room. At this moment, all the military forces under the forward base bared their fangs, and the remaining Australian military forces unhesitatingly aimed all their firepower at the former capital, Canberra.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
On the streets of Canberra, Li Mu stood expressionless, his silver eyes cold and ruthless, firmly locking onto the fleeing X-type zombie. He pursued relentlessly, even as King, perched on the shoulder of the X-type zombie, continuously screeched, summoning an almost endless horde of zombies to swarm and intercept Li Mu, but to no avail.
Although both were Kings, Li Mu possessed physical enhancement abilities, which meant that this King was at an absolute disadvantage in the confrontation with Li Mu.
If it were a typical encounter between two Kings, the battle would be a contest of mental control and the armies of zombies they commanded. But Li Mu was different; he was an army and a force unto himself. He was both king and general, and this difference meant that no King could suppress Li Mu.
Li Mu did not need the assistance of other zombies; he himself was a terrifying warrior and an ultimate force.
Seeing the zombies he controlled rush to attack Li Mu, only to become immediately stunned and have their control forcibly taken over by Li Mu, the King screeched even more furiously.
As the king of these zombies, since this ugly, small zombie evolved into a King, it had never been forced into such a desperate situation by its own kind. But now, it could only flee in a panic from Li Mu's pursuit.
The X-type zombie, the only one capable of potentially killing Li Mu from a distance, under the control of King, did not dare to stop. If it stopped, it might be killed by Li Mu before it could even use its abilities.
This was the tragic aspect of the King's power: it could control the most powerful zombies, but it could not evolve physically. Once its mental control ability was lost, it could only flee in a panic.
But apart from Li Mu, a unique existence, what other entity in the world could penetrate the zombie horde, ignore the endless zombies controlled by the King, and relentlessly pursue and hunt down the King in this overwhelming tide?
Encountering Li Mu was truly the greatest misfortune of this King's life.
"Great King, kill it!"
The red mutant parrot screamed excitedly. Li Mu's pursuit was like a lightning bolt, and in this rapid chase, the red mutant parrot derived great pleasure. Moreover, the target was a King, a king among zombies. Just thinking about it made the red mutant parrot almost climax in excitement.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A black bone spike unfurled from behind Li Mu. The cars along the way were instantly lifted by the black bone spike, like cannonballs, hurtling towards the King.
If not for the X-type zombie guarding the King, which could control magnetism, with the ferocity Li Mu displayed, the giant zombie suspected to be an M4 would have already been caught and killed by Li Mu.
The X-type zombie was indeed terrifying, with its ability to manipulate magnetism being truly astonishing. The cars Li Mu hurled, despite their overwhelming momentum, could not get within three feet of the X-type zombie. The X-type zombie did not even turn its head; with just a thought, the vehicles, like cannonballs, instantly twisted, stagnated, and crashed to the ground.
Woo! Woo! Woo!
Suddenly, a ghostly wailing sound came from the sky. Li Mu's heart tightened, a great sense of danger rising. He turned his head sharply, his pupils contracting, and saw the shells trailing bright blue flames, roaring down from the sky.
"Damn! We've been ambushed!"
The red mutant parrot screamed in shock, covering its eyes with its wings, almost falling from Li Mu's shoulder. Li Mu's pursuit of the King was instantly interrupted by the sudden barrage of shells.
Li Mu suddenly pushed off the ground with great force, breaking through the road surface and instantly diving into the sewer, no longer caring about pursuing the King.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Intense explosions erupted almost instantly, the brilliant flames almost illuminating the entire Canberra. The overwhelming firepower of human armed forces was fully displayed, with the ferocious artillery fire, determined to level Canberra and erase it from the map.
One deafening explosion after another, even though Li Mu moved quickly and took cover in the sewer, he could still feel the ground shaking, the smoke and dust rising to the sky, and large buildings collapsing in the face of this devastating artillery fire.
The power of the zombies seemed so insignificant in the face of this destruction.
"First round of artillery barrage completed, preparing for the second round..."
In the forward base's combat command room, the results of the artillery bombardment on Canberra were clearly visible. The familiar streets, from the Parliament House to Lake Burley Griffin, were now filled with endless smoke and fire, the dust rising like smoke signals.
"Damn it. Damn it. Humans, they must die!"
The red mutant parrot screamed hysterically in the sewer, instantly covered in a layer of dust, coughing violently, still trembling with fear, and cursing loudly.
Li Mu remained expressionless, running quickly through the sewer, the filth along the way not hindering his progress. The road above occasionally trembled and even collapsed, the deafening explosions replacing all other sounds, indicating the ferocity of the artillery barrage outside.
The collapses in the sewer became more frequent, meaning that the artillery barrage on the surface was becoming even more intense.
The zombies that had previously ravaged Canberra had no resistance against this barrage, instantly turning to dust in the deafening explosions.
"Farewell, Canberra."
General Soros sighed, removing his military cap and slowly saluting the image of Canberra, which was gradually turning into ruins under the intense artillery barrage. His eyes were filled with sorrow. As a pure soldier, aiming the guns at his own country, his own city, his own capital, was not a source of pride for him.
"How long until the air force squadron arrives?"
After a brief moment of sadness, General Soros regained his composure and asked.
"Three minutes."
