In case you didn’t see, here’s my latest update. TLDR: I did some work on another manga! Check out the Manga tab. Also, I’ll have less time to translate since I need to start making money so expect an even slower release rate. Would be different if I made money from this but you guys reading what I post is enough for me. If there’s any weird spots let me know.

After we finished buying groceries, we finally arrived at home. It’s become 5pm, and as I thought about how dinner will start being made now, I tried to take a nap on our sofa like I usually do.

For some reason I could hear some rattling and rustling coming from the kitchen, which was a little noisy.

With a cushion for a pillow, I closed just my eyes in order to get some peace of mind and my face was assaulted by a soft feeling.

「Hey now. Don’t stay in your uniform. It’ll get wrinkled you know.」

Opening my eyes, Kanzaki’s face was in front of my eyes. And, she was holding a cushion of a different colour in her hands. Kanzaki was in the living room. It made my heart beat fast. Just for a bit though okay.

「I’m the one in charge of laundry so you don’t need to worry. I always take a nap at this time so please leave me alone.」

Saying that, my view was once again wrapped in darkness, and I felt the same sensation at the same place.

「…….Oi.」

「I’m free so entertain me.」

「Why are you free. Weren’t you going to show me your cooking skills?」

「Miku-chan is doing her best so that I can do that right now.」

「‥‥‥?」

I started to have some doubts towards Kanzaki as she looked towards the kitchen with a suggestive gaze.

「—-There is is. Kotone-san, we do have it!」

Miku’s voice could be heard from the kitchen. Kanzaki responded back.

「Sorry for making you look for me Miku-chan.」

「No no, I’m the one who knows where things are stored here. I’ll leave it over here okay.」

「Yup, thanks!」

Watching over us as I sat upright on the sofa and rested my arm on the armrest, Miku brought out a navy blue cloth from the kitchen area and put it down……. what, is that?

「Fufu, alright then I’ll make you wake up in an instant. Give me a second.」

After patting my shoulders, Kanzaki let go of me and headed towards the kitchen.

After thinking about our exchange, Kanzaki definitely took that cloth when she went. Now I can finally take a nap.

「—–You can’t sleep, onii-chan!」

My cheeks were assaulted by slaps of considerable power. An offensive-type waking up method.

「I always do this don’t I? Why can’t I do it today.」

「I have something important to talk about that’s why.」

「What’s up so suddenly. It’s kinda scary.」

I instinctively sat-up straight because Miku was surrounded by a serious atmosphere. That reminds me, I also have something to say to Miku.

「That’s right, how many times have I told you not to wear your uniform when you go shopping? It’s too late for any excuses.」

「Wah, an older brother who thinks of his sister. But that worry is a little excessive.」

「I guess you’ll never stop it then…..」

Recently, due to some dangerous events increasing, compulsory education, like middle schools, have added strict rules on going outside in uniform. You might think this girl understands that, but after warning her many times, she still hasn’t changed. She must be in a rebellious phase after all.

「Actually, when I wear this outfit to go buy groceries, the neighbors and supermarket employees praise me, saying “You’re so amazing even though you’re only in middle school~” and stuff!」

「……….Don’t get social approval for your self-esteem there.」

This girl, she’s my sister but doesn’t have a good personality. She’ll definitely lead guys around by their noses won’t she? Will things be okay?

And so, Miku raises her own stock while shifting the negative consequences over to her older brother, me. To be more specific, something like “An awful older brother who leaves everything to his trustworthy little sister” will spread throughout the neighbourhood and everyday while I head to school I’ll be met with cold gazes. My imagination is scary.

I could grasp that some kind of hostility like that could happen. Well, Miku doesn’t have that kind of intention……… right?

「And so, onii-chan. Can you show me the results of the test you had after the break?」

「Eh, what for?」

She has never been interested in my grades before though. Has she finally noticed the charm of her older brother?

「Don’t worry about it. You won’t get dinner if you don’t.」

「That’s foul play…….. here.」

I pulled out piece of paper from my pocket and handed it to her. It’s a good thing that it’s crumpled, otherwise she wouldn’t fuss about me.1 Rather than that, my little sister naturally threatening me is terrifying. It was unpleasant to experience her growth in this area.

「………You actually got 20 points on math.」

「Eh, I got 20 points?」

「Why are you reacting like it’s the first time you’ve seen your own grades….?」

「I already know it’s going to be bad so I didn’t bother checking.」

「Then, what’s your impression?」

「They’re horrible.」

「We’re siblings after all.」

「You can’t do math either?」

「…..We have the same opinion.」

While letting out a sigh, Miku sat down next to me in a lady-like way and faced me. Anyone who sits like this will look cute. I think that this should become more popular than how girls sit holding their legs in gym class. Ah, but then we’d lose the culture of exposed thighs huh……..It’s the ultimate decision.

「Hey onii-chan.」

「What’s up?」

「With results like this, don’t you think you should study math?」

「……She said some unnecessary words to you didn’t she?」

I looked towards Kanzaki in the kitchen, who for some reason seemed to be in a good mood. I was a little curious when Miku had this feeling of confirming information she received when she was checking my results, but this was going to happen from the start.

「Whether or not you study is up to you in the end, so I won’t say anything but—」

「We’re definitely siblings after all!」

「Not showing any regret is a different problem so I’ll be reporting this to mom okay?」

「……..I wonder what you’re saying, Miku-chan.」

My enthusiasm rose up high for a moment, only to take a sharp nose dive down into the ground. Even though you’re in the top caste don’t ruin the mood by saying that.

「Specifically, this would lead to your allowance being reduced right? With that, maybe my allowance will increase~」

「Anything but that! You saw the state of my wallet earlier didn’t you!?」

「Even if you say that~? You’ll have to show it with your actions. With the attitude of someone reflecting.」

「…….I’ll study starting tonight.」

「*sigh*………..Maybe I’ll send a pic for mom to see on LINE2.」

Miku reached her hand out to her phone on the table.

「Please don’t use force!」

「Alright then, when will you study?」

「……..Right now right.」

「Good. Well, that was such an old word though.」3

「You’re the one who made me say it though….!」

While being told hurtful things by Miku who was already playing around on her phone as if she had nothing to do with this, I reluctantly headed to the dining area. I’m not really good with math, but if it’s for money then I’ll have to do it.

To start with today, reviewing some lessons should be good right? I took out my math textbook and notebook from my bag and spread them out on the dining table.

「—–Ooh, you said those words earlier but you’re studying after all. Amazing, amazing.」

A voice reached my seat from behind me. There’s no doubt that she probably has a smile on her face, and is laughing at me. I won’t turn around at any cost.

「……..How shameless. You said something to Miku didn’t you.」

It was probably when I was in alone looking at books. In other words, when those two were buying the ingredients we needed. I was careless…….rather than saying that it’s more like Kanzaki’s wits are more effective. Don’t show off your power as the top of the class at times like this.

「Well yeah.」

「Coming to my house was just an excuse to lead to me studying right?」

「That might be true, but anyone would say that wouldn’t they? A lot of girls would be worried for their boyfriend if they had really bad grades.」

「…….Like I said before, could you stop hiding tricks within our daily conversations?」

「Even though you were doing something similar in the clubroom.」

「…………You’re interrupting my studies so go somewhere else.」

「Uwa, such cold treatment~. You haven’t been looking at me since earlier too.」

「Onii-chan is the worst.」

Because of her exaggeration, there was some heckling from the crowd. However that settled down in an instant. And with that, a weird sensation came as expected.

「——I want you to look at me right now though.」

「…………!」

Towards the sudden whispers to my ear, my iron will that was going strong until now unintentionally collapsed and I ended up turning my head around. And there as I thought—–instead of what I thought, there was a gentle smile on Kanzaki’s face.

「Fufu, how is it? I tried matching with Miku-chan~」

Then she showed off a ponytail in high spirits. It fluttered about, and looked just like a tail swaying around. When did she do this I wonder? Compared to when Miku is preparing dinner in the kitchen, they definitely do match with each other. Almost like—-

「An imitation?」

「Rejected! Okay now, a different reaction!」

A different reaction…..A different reaction…….

「…………Seems like medium length hair is the most flexible for hairstyles.」

「The impression you say with a serious mood is that!?」

「It seems like a pain to deal with long hair after all, and you won’t be able to arrange it like short hair right?」

「There’s no way a girl like me wouldn’t know that. Rather than that…..Then, how about this outfit? I’m borrowing your mom’s though.」

「Aah…..you really are. That’s an apron huh. Of course it suits you. Or rather, there’s nothing that wouldn’t suit a model like you right?」

「AAAAAAAAH! Enough! I’m happy but…. it’s irritating how I can’t say anything back!」

Kanzaki, who was lamenting as if she was having a monologue in a play, was wearing the same uniform as me, but it was hidden by the navy blue apron on top of it.

If I were to say it in a reserved manner, then I think this picture would lead people to think “This is the start of the uniform + apron era don’t you think?”.

I think that this uniform+apron combo is more attractive than a private naked apron. Sometimes things are better not taken off. I’d like people around here to have some more modesty.

「There’s no helping it Kotone-san. This is how onii-chan usually is. Even if he woke up to a natural disaster this part of him will never change.」

「Am I a Japanese train or something!?」

「…..So noisy. Shouldn’t you hurry up and study?」

Towards my perfectly timed retort, Miku didn’t even bother with it and immediately cast her gaze towards me. You’re in a uniform apron combo too huh. I’m used to seeing it though, and since she’s my blood-related sister, I don’t think anything of it.

Since I couldn’t go against Miku, who is connected to my mom (or rather both parents) in more ways than one, I turned my gaze back to the textbook. Isn’t the power relationship of us siblings weird?

However, with receiving a double punch of being bad at math and also not liking it, it was hard to continue and the pen in my hand naturally stopped.

「ーーーFine I guess I have to~. For this one…..try calculating the answer using this formula.」

While realizing that Kanzaki was sitting next to me, she passed me a small piece of paper with a formula written on it. Eh, I haven’t said anything yet though. Does she have a bird’s eye view? Is she Iniesta?4

「………………………Like this?」

「Yup. You got it. And then for the next question—」

「Wait, wait. You’re underestimating me too much. You just use this formula right?」

「No no, you’re the one underestimating math too much. You take the answer you get from here…..and get this.」

「Uwah, here it is, the typical pattern for questions. This is why I don’t want to read the last question or even the question prompt.」

「Jeez, don’t just give up saying you can’t solve it. Come on, we’ll do the next question together.」

Her way of speaking was overflowing with kindness, but this cat-like girl flipped over to the next page as if to say I had no choice. This is super spartan. I think cuddling together some more would be nice though.

「Weren’t you going to show me your cooking skills?」

「Of course. I’ve just left the preparation work to Miku-chan. I’m the one who instigated you to do this, so I should take responsibility and teach you right?」

「Then don’t come up with such weird plans in the first place.」

「Don’t argue for the sake of arguing. Also, since you’re reviewing today’s lesson, review yesterday’s as well too okay~」

「Aren’t you asking too much of me? If you say that much then—-」

「Should I tell Miku-chan about you sleeping during yesterday’s lesson?」

「For some reason I’m suddenly motivated.」

「Mmm. I like that part of you Shinomiya.」

The “that part of you” she mention just now wasn’t about me being obedient in a sweet way, it’s definitely about me being obedient in a terrifying sense. The girls here are scary. Am I the only normal one here?

「By the way, you won’t get any dinner until you finish.」

See, this kids immediately hold food as hostage.

Somehow or another, I finished reviewing without any problems and obtained dinner.

Kanzaki and Miku set the table up with just the two of them as they were more or less worried for me, as I was tired. Both of them eventually sat at the dinner table. Sitting opposite to me like usual was Miku. And, Kanzaki was sitting to her right. Because of their similar appearances, they looked like sisters when next to each other like this.

「Ta-da-! It’s butter chicken! Well, I followed the recipe from the curry powder exactly as it was written though.」

「But if you don’t think about that then this looks really delicious! You can really smell the buttery scent!」

As Miku said, even I, who has like no experience at all with cooking, can sense the butter. Maybe it was out of respect for the dish’s origins, but I could perceive the level of seriousness put into this from how the rice and curry sauce were separated.

…….I didn’t retort that the colour of the curry sauce was the same as carrots. You didn’t have to mash them up and mix them into other foods like you would for a child in order to get them to eat stuff they don’t like. Stuff like this is what leads people to lose trust in other humans.

We all said our thanks, and I immediately brought the curry sauce to my mouth.

「Ah, it’s good.」

My thoughts naturally came out. Seeing that, Kanzaki had a smug look on her face.

「Fufun, you can understand how good my cooking is right.」

「Yeah. I’d want to eat this curry everyday.」

I didn’t say only if there were no carrots. There’s something about this that makes me feel addicted.

The proof is that different to earlier with the pen, I didn’t know how to stop the spoon in my hand.

「I-is…..that so. I wouldn’t really mind making this curry for you everyday…..」

「Don’t get caught up in his flow so easily Kotone-san. Eating this everyday would be really bad for your calorie intake.」

「Is it that high?」

「This is something that would make you instantly fat if you mistakenly think it won’t do much. It might also be bad for onii-chan who doesn’t exercise much you know?」

「You’re also a part of the going-home club aren’t you? Wait, if that’s the case then why does it seem like the person who should be the most careful is the most open to the idea?」

I moved my gaze to the model sitting diagonally from me and Miku turned her gaze as well.

「Everyday…..Everyday huh……wait what’s wrong? Both of you are staring at me.」

「Uh, I was just wondering if it’s okay for a model like you to be eating so carelessly.」

「Onii-chan was curious about that too huh…」

Even though I’m an ordinary guy, I know that it’s necessary for a model to maintain a certain figure. Not only do they have candy as snacks between meals, but they definitely do some kind of calorie-restriction program, but I can’t sense any hint of that from Kanzaki right now.

「Ah, even if I eat it doesn’t really affect my body. Even if I eat a lot of calories, it isn’t a problem.」

「This is the rumoured model physique……!」

「Seems like other girls are jealous of that huh. Just like how Miku is right now.」

「What are you saying onii-chan! This is more than just jealousy of beautiful people like Kotone-san, it’s already in the area of admiration!」

「There’s a lot of people like that too.」

I wanted you to deny it if possible. There’s a image of a more complicated and deep darkness in female society compared to male society. We don’t have a word that isn’t trusted like girls saying “cute”. From my many years of experience, it seems like that word has a role of keeping people in check. Kinda like “I praised you, what are you gonna do huh?”. So scary.

「I’m asking since I’ve got doubts from hearing it again right now, but how are your guys’ reputations at school?」

「It goes without saying that Kanzaki is a popular person. For me, I don’t even know if I’m even recognized.」

Hahaha, I don’t even have to mention my situation. I even have a soft spot for products with no reviews on online shopping sites.

「Such a sad….. Anyways, I don’t want to hear about you guys separately, I want to hear about you guys being a couple. I’m curious about the reactions of two completely opposite people going out with each other.」

「That kind of thing huh. We’re hiding the fact that we’re dating, so that kind of reaction won’t happen. Of course, you can imagine stuff is happening behind everyone’s backs.」

This is why I had to meet her at the school’s back entrance and leave from there.

「What really?」

Miku looked at Kanzaki for confirmation, but all she got was a light nod of the head and said “That’s how it is…..”. My words were not enough for her to believe them. Big brother is sad.

「But is it necessary to hide it? I personally think hiding it is more harmful to the relationship. There’s a lot of places you wouldn’t be able to go to for dates.」

「That’s right! It’s already been a month since we’ve started dating but the two of us still haven’t been on a date~. All of spring break was on LINE right? Ah, if that’s the case then we’ve been real lovers for about two weeks then.」

「Oi it was your fault right. Don’t listen to her Miku. Who was the one who sent “It isn’t bad like this” as a message during the middle of spring break huh?」

「Wa- Isn’t it rude to expose me here!?」

「It’s because you were trying to play the victim card. Look, your dear Miku is also dumbfounded.」

「Eh. Y-you’re wrong Miku-chan! That’s not what I intended!」

「Ah, okay. I’ve guessed a lot of things so it’s okay. So why though?」

Miku was calm in contrast with Kanzaki who was desperately trying to come up with excuses. It’s like she’s reached enlightenment though. Is this the moment when humans become Buddha?

「It’s not a big reason. It’s just that we met up with each other in places other people didn’t know and our relationship changed a little and we didn’t think it was necessary to make it public. Think of it from a model’s viewpoint.」

「Ah, makes sense. There’s the possibility of falling prey to Bunshunhou5. Something along the lines of “Beautiful high school girl model has a secret romance with a classmate”」

「As far as that goes, my name probably wouldn’t sell for much so there’s no need to worry I think. If anything, I’m okay with making it public.」

Kanzaki added some words while Miku nodded her head in understanding with her true thoughts mixed into her whispers. Since things could get bothersome in various ways here, I once again landed an effective strike.

「You were thinking “A secret relationship huh…….That sounds kind of nice” weren’t you?」

「……You want seconds don’t you Shinomiya!」

As expected, Kanzaki, who suddenly stood up from her seat, took my emptied bowl and vanished into the kitchen.

It seems like even people from the top caste have some kind of dark history they don’t want anyone to know. I thought that was just a thing for loners.

And there, Miku looked towards Kanzaki as she moved to the kitchen with a suspicious expression overflowing on her face, and then turned her face towards me. I also brought my ear down to the table.

「……..Will you really hide your relationship?」

「What do you mean.」

「You two will be entering society soon. Leaving me behind.」

「No, we’re not entering it yet at all. We don’t even speak to each other in the classroom anyways.」

「Ah okay okay, there’s no point in asking.」

Disregarding my opinion, Miku continued to eat her curry. What’s with her. I properly answered her question though.

While displeased with my little sister’s indifferent response, and while I was tired of waiting for Kanzaki to bring seconds, the sound of slippers sliding on the floor slowly came closer.

「Hey, Shinomiya」

「Thank you…..what’s wrong?」

In addition to receiving rice and curry from her, she had a worried expression so I asked her a question.

「In the case of unexpected heavy rain, the trains stop running right? I noticed when I got close to the window in the kitchen but…..」

「…….What do you mean?」

「ーーWhoa, she’s right. It’s really pouring.」

Miku, who was definitely across from me earlier, opened the curtains of the living room and looked outside. Thanks to the silence that that brought, I was able to understand the situation. It wasn’t just a few drops here and there, the sound of the raindrops striking the ground could be heard over and over again.

「Aah…… it seems like they’ve suspended the Tokyo-Yokohama Northeast line.」

Checking the service announcements on her phone, Miku immediately told Kanzaki that. My little sister is really the embodiment of quick action. She’s a tactful girl. But, what we need right now is a weather girl.6

「Seems like it……. What should I do, I can’t go home now.」

Kanzaki lives in the Urawa district. From here—- From the Yono district, it’s not a distance you can walk with weather like this. So, in a situation like this the only way home has been lost.

「But it’s a unexpected heavy rain storm right? It might rain for around an hour so you should stay here until it stops. Just until you can go to the station.」

In order to make her shapely face, which had become ghastly due to being uneasy, return back to normal even just a little, I called out……… to try to encourage her.

「You’re right. Thank you, I’ll accept your kind words. For now I’ll message my mom—-」

「Well please wait a second Kotone-san. Nothing should just be a temporary means for shelter from the rain.」

Miku put both of her hands on the shoulders of Kanzaki, who had taken out her phone.

「……..What do you mean?」

「Lend me your ears for a bit.」7

「What era are you from?」

And so Miku forcibly brought Kanzaki into the living room and brought her face close to Kanzaki’s ears.

For some reason, Kanzaki’s cheeks gradually redden as Miku told her something with the face like that of a mischievous child……. It feels like I’m looking at something I shouldn’t be looking at. But I’ll look anyways. I’m a high school boy after all, there’s no such thing as right and wrong!

「—–And with that, we’ll go with that kind of feeling!」

「There’s nothing really wrong with that but…. It’s my first time coming here…..isn’t it kind of strange? Look, what about our ethics and morals!」

「It’s fine if it’s Kotone-san! We just had dinner together!」

With her back being pressured by the flow of that conversation, Kanzaki came closer to me. Eh, I’m related to this? This didn’t have to do with yuri?

「Eeh, uhm…… Could I, stay here today?」

With her gaze swimming around to here and there, Kanzaki said such a proposal.

This line was a little awkward to translate, meaning is likely not correct and sorry if it sounds weird. Japanese WhatsApp basicallynot sure what they’re referring to here, maybe the phrase he said a couple lines ago? Likely a reference to Andres Iniesta who is some soccer player, I don’t know what the bird’s eye view bit is about though.I think this refers to a group of people like the paparazzi. Japanese paparazzi lol.likely a reference to Weathering with You, the shinkai movie. Miku says this in an old-fashioned way. I don’t know how old people speak.
