Chapter 1

The moon hung high, and the night grew more promising.

On the 48th Street, the owner of a snack stall, wearing a fan hat, was shouting out his wares, while others were selling various accessories...

Next to a beef offal stall was a goldfish stand, with fish tanks of various sizes on the ground, filled with goldfish of all colors, big and small. There were also a few foam boxes lined with stones, each crawling with a dozen or so small turtles.

The owner of the goldfish stand looked like a simple, large man, squatting on the ground, smiling foolishly as he read a job advertisement, muttering to himself from time to time: "Why can't I find a job that works eight hours a day, with air conditioning all day, no work, and a monthly salary of over a million for flirting with girls?"

Still, the days of fixing things, farming, and selling goldfish at night while watching beautiful women were carefree and easy.

This guy had a buzz cut, wore five-eighths length jeans, a pair of flip-flops, and a black bear tattoo on his right arm.

No one knew his name, but he had given himself a nickname: Hero.

At that moment, a little girl came up to Hero with a small turtle box, her little belly sticking out, and said:

"Big Brother Hero, Nana's little turtle fell asleep while swimming in the water. Can you wake it up for Nana?"

Hero recognized this little girl. She called herself Nana. Her butler had bought a small grass turtle from him a week ago, and he had given this little girl a turtle box. When he saw the turtle box in the little girl's hand, the turtle was already floating upside down, probably drowned.

So Hero comforted the little girl by saying, "Your little turtle misses its mother."

"Misses its mother? Big Brother Hero, why doesn't the turtle miss me? I treat it so well, giving it Coca-Cola to drink and KFC to eat every day. Now it ignores me, and Nana has no one to play with, so pitiful," the little girl said, her eyes welling up with tears, looking at the seven-tenths simple, three-tenths lecherous big man.

With every "Big Brother Hero" she called, the guy was almost floating on cloud nine. But seeing the little girl's red eyes, he thought to himself: "Damn, this family, can you ever finish making money? Learn from me, selling goldfish and comforting little girls, what a carefree life."

Thinking of this, Hero bent down and said, "Nana, Big Brother Hero will give you a super strong little turtle. It can resist Sudan Red, malachite green, gutter oil, and drug chickens. It has no heart or lungs and won't miss its mother. Just give it a pack of cigarettes every day, and it will protect you."

Hearing that Big Brother Hero was giving her a super little turtle, Nana's face lit up like a red apple. The simple guy felt a great sense of achievement seeing the little girl's smile, a great achievement in selling goldfish, quietly spreading light to the world.

Then, the simple guy gave the little girl a small turtle that had been testing his failed drugs for several months. The little turtle felt a great sense of relief: "Damn, helping this scoundrel test drugs for months and still being alive, I should thank the heavens for protecting turtles. May this guy lack seasoning in his instant noodles and cups for his water."

This little turtle had already undergone 81 rounds of failed drug tests, enough to withstand malachite green, Sudan Red, and gutter oil.

The little girl looked at the turtle in the box, holding a cigarette, and smiled like a little apple: "Big Brother Hero, this turtle is so cool. Can you give it a name?"

"It's called Little Rogue," Hero said.

Just then, a bright red motorcycle appeared in the night market. As it slowly approached the goldfish stand from twenty meters away, it suddenly accelerated, darting through the crowd like a shadow, and finally crashed into the goldfish stand.

The old butler beside Nana was terrified.

With a loud bang, the red motorcycle shattered the fish tanks and rolled toward the little girl, who was still in shock.

In this critical moment, Hero, shocked and angry, shouted, "Damn!"

At the same time, a heart-pounding sound erupted from Hero's body, his blood pressure skyrocketing to tens of thousands of pascals!

The world slowed down for half a second in Hero's senses. In that brief half-second, his muscles burst with power, transforming him into a human bear. His figure blurred as he dashed behind Nana, picked her up, and shouted, "Old man, get lost!" before kicking the old butler away.

With a loud crash, the red motorcycle, now a red streak, passed through the shadow Hero left behind. Hero had intended to confront the red motorcycle, but he saw a strange pattern on the motorcycle's body flash, and he thought, "A superhuman!"

Hero dared not rashly confront the other party and could only hold Nana and leap to the side of the road.

Hero handed Nana back to the still-shaken old butler. Looking at the ground covered with turtle and fish cakes, Hero felt as if someone had burned dozens of acres of his land. These were all the turtles and fish he had raised with great care.

A turtle with a cigarette in its mouth crawled out from the turtle and fish cakes. This turtle was the father of the super little turtle given to Nana, having helped Hero test drugs for a year. Hero put the turtle back in his pocket and patted the little girl's head, saying, "Nana, see you at home. Big Brother Hero has to go fight the bad guys."

Hero turned and glared at the motorcycle as it sped away.

The motorcycle rider gave him the middle finger, and Hero's eyes narrowed!

This was definitely those bastards coming to him. But only a few people knew his true identity.

Watching the red motorcycle quickly disappear, Hero's gaze hardened, and he thought, "Want to do business with me but show off on my turf? I'll turn you into a meat pie first!"

With this thought, the heart-pounding sound in Hero's body intensified!

Two streams of blood, like water jets, surged through the arteries in Hero's legs. Just as his blood vessels were about to burst, a green aura emerged from a green jade crystal in his dantian. This green aura circled his body, making him instantly tough and full of power.

His legs instantly had the strength of ten thousand pounds!

Hero moved like a cannonball through the crowded night market.

A moment later, Hero was led to a dark alley with dim streetlights.

The wind in the dark alley was like a hundred ghosts wandering at night.

Four black figures appeared in the alley, all wearing masks with green glowing eyes, like wild dogs hunting at night!

Hero knew who they were; he had once been a member of this organization.

Just then, the red motorcycle entered the alley.

It was a scorpion-shaped battle bike.

Hero looked at the rider and asked, "You're Scorpion!"

It was a red-haired girl, looking like a dark beauty under the dim streetlights.

Under Hero's gaze, the scorpion-shaped bike disassembled into blocks and reassembled into a suit of armor on Scorpion.

On the armor was a flowing emblem: the Flame Scorpion Emblem!

This armor was a patterned armor!

When the emblem is engraved into an object and fused with it, it becomes patterned armor, which amplifies the special powers of the emblem. This is the equipment used by superhumans!

Scorpion wore a red Flame Scorpion patterned armor.

She was a superhuman.

Looking at the human bear in front of her, Scorpion's eyes showed a hint of disdain. She didn't want to answer any of the scoundrel's questions, threw a sealed envelope to Hero, and said, "This is the task the organization has assigned to you."

Unexpectedly, Hero slapped the envelope away and said, "Sorry, I've retired."

Scorpion glanced at the secret envelope on the ground, a mocking look on her face. She said, "Can you really leave? This is a task assigned to you by the Dragon King. If you complete it, you'll be fully paid. You can refuse, but don't regret it."

Hero grinned, "Regret? I only regret for my brothers. In that battle, the Dragon King didn't send any reinforcements and even betrayed us. I must have been crazy to believe him. After I survived, I have nothing to do with this damn organization."

Behind this smile was endless resentment.

Scorpion knew what Hero was talking about and coldly said, "Do you know what the Dragon King's responsibilities are in the organization? No matter what decisions the boss makes, he doesn't need to explain himself to a washed-up failure like you."

"Failure?" Hero narrowed his eyes. At that moment, Scorpion's video call rang. She answered it and threw the phone to Hero, saying, "The Dragon King wants to talk to you."

Hero took the phone and stared at the video call without speaking. A minute later, the call ended, and he couldn't describe his excitement.

"The old bandit has been saved!"

This tough, legendary man had taken him in and brought him into the organization, along with a group of brothers. Unfortunately, only he survived that battle. Seeing the man lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to various tubes, almost made him shed tears.

He had to save this man. He wouldn't believe any of the Dragon King's promises, but the old bandit was still in the Ninth Institute, barely surviving as a vegetative state thanks to the institute's advanced techniques.

To save the old man, Hero bent down to pick up the envelope that had been slapped to the ground, under Scorpion's disdainful gaze.

Scorpion stepped on the envelope and coldly said to Hero, "You refused my offer, and now you want to pick it up? It's not that easy. This task is to be completed by us two. Your role is just to replace the Hu family's weak bastard and infiltrate the Hu family. I can find someone else to do it, and I don't need to partner with a failure like you."

Hero's face darkened. Scorpion felt a great sense of satisfaction seeing the despair in his eyes. How could a nobody like him be worthy of partnering with her? Even if that team was the organization's best logistics team, they were all trash except for the old bandit!

Hero suddenly grinned, "I'll make you taste the feeling of being a failure!"

With this grim smile, the soul pattern embedded in his soul activated. It was a 'Raging Bear Pattern' that looked like a blood-red bear roaring! Patterns are the power of superhumans. A peak martial artist must awaken the soul pattern in their soul to become a superhuman.

But Hero was no longer the Hero of the past. He no longer needed various crystals or energy agents to activate and use patterns; he used genuine Daoist inner breath!

During the final battle, he fell into a cave and found the remains of a cultivator. There, he obtained a jade scroll containing the cultivator's life's work and a few spirit pills.

These spirit pills, which cleansed his body and bones, pulled him back from the brink of death and cultivated a path of inner breath within him. He still had three of those spirit pills left.

The Raging Bear Pattern was already fused into his soul and could not be removed. After a year of refining with spirit pills and inner breath, he managed to perfectly integrate the Raging Bear Pattern with Daoist inner breath. He didn't know what he was now, but he was incredibly powerful.

When the Raging Bear Pattern in his soul was activated, his blood pressure doubled, and his body instantly transformed into a ten-foot-tall human bear, radiating a wild aura.

The black bear tattoo on his right arm came to life, transforming into a fierce Raging Bear! This was a technical pattern: Raging Bear Roar!

Using inner breath to power the pattern had no side effects, including the rage and madness that came with Raging Bear Roar.

"Angry, huh?" Scorpion sneered, looking at the enraged bear.

Before Scorpion could finish gloating, Hero suddenly burst forward, locking onto her with his aura.

"Raging Bear Roar!"

With a mighty roar, Hero's fist transformed into a roaring iron stake, delivering an uppercut. Scorpion only had time to activate her patterned armor.

This uppercut, accompanied by the Raging Bear Roar, struck between Scorpion's prominent peaks. The powerful inner breath not only shattered her patterned armor but also tore her undergarments to pieces.

If not for a defensive pattern on her chest, she would have been obliterated.

Under the dim streetlights, Scorpion, lying in a pool of blood, looked incredibly alluring. She looked up at the dim streetlights.

Feeling the sudden and unbearable defeat, Scorpion thought, "That nobody who used to be crushed by me is now strong enough to knock me out with one punch. What does this mean? A ninth-level superhuman awakening?"

The cold wind blew over the high ground, and the strong liquor made him bold!

Hero stepped on Scorpion's stomach, grabbed a jade bottle, and took a swig of the strong liquor inside, which was specifically for strengthening one's vital energy.

In the path of cultivation, the most important thing during the foundation-building stage is to maintain one's vital energy until it transforms into qi. Once a mouthful of qi is cultivated, one can do as they please.

The liquor emboldened him. Hero bent down and looked at the furious Scorpion, saying, "You were so arrogant just now. If you're arrogant in front of me, you should be prepared to be stepped on."

Being stripped and stepped on by a man was a great humiliation for her.

Scorpion showed no sign of a woman's weakness, instead glaring at Hero with hatred, "You scoundrel, if you have the guts, finish me off right here. I came to deliver a message. If anything happens to me, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!"

"Regret for the rest of my life?"

Hero grinned and grabbed Scorpion by the neck, forcing a kiss on her. His tongue roamed in her mouth like a fierce dragon, only stopping when she was gasping for breath. He then looked at her with a grin, "You bitch, listen up. I'm a rough guy taught by the old bandit, not a king of soldiers. My brothers were all killed because the Dragon Group refused to help. I want to see what I have to regret for the rest of my life!"

As he spoke, his fingers traced the area covered by her undergarment, lightly pressing, causing Scorpion to shudder.

When Scorpion turned around, Hero had already taken the envelope and disappeared into the night, leaving her to her venomous curses.
